Good Morning! Sunday February 28, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. The forecast for today is mid 40s, mostly cloudy ... at the moment, it's clear and bright, at least in my back yard! LOL! The house doesn't feel so chilly; but of course, the wind has calmed a lot and that helps.
Yesterday was a surprisingly productive day, considering I dawdled and got a late start. :) My niece and I went into town, took a brief cruise around a second hand store, and then got groceries. We got the groceries all put away, took a break, and then got the Christmas stuff cleared off the high shelves in the kitchen. I sorted through the boxes I had packed up before Christmas, and decided not to bother putting all of it back. At the moment my shelves look a bit sparse - but since I'm an incurable collector, I'm sure that will be taken care of sooner or later! LOL! I haven't taken the boxes upstairs yet, because I want to take another look around, try to see if I've missed anything (which I usually do!). They'll go up today. Next weekend - winter will turn to spring. Well, at least inside my house it will! :)

Good Morning! Saturday February 27, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! The forecast says partly cloudy, but so far it's bright and clear. It will only go to upper 40s, and breezy. That might be a good thing. I have a "warm" chore for today ... taking down the last of the Christmas stuff in the kitchen - just in time to start putting spring decorations out! LOL! I know, it'll be winter for a few more weeks; but when it's March, I'm ready for winterstuff to be packed away. At least inside! LOL!
Last night we went to eat (BoJangles), and then to WalMart. Jimmy picked up some prescriptions, and my niece and I roamed around. I only got a few things I knew I could get cheaper than an upcoming grocery run. And tweezers! Last weekend I searched the house and couldn't find any tweezers ... so last night I bought 3!! Bet I'll find one next time I need it! LOL!
Today, as I said, is pack up the kitchen day. We'll also go to the grocery store, take trash to the dump, and (probably) bake something. Though the gas tank still isn't filled, it's got more than it's had since Christmas. Yay! :)

Good Morning! Friday February 26, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! The sun is bright, the sky is clear. It'll be upper 40s today, and windy, but the sun makes it at least feel warmer! Even though we're nearly at the end of February (already?????), we're still in winter here.
I did a little more decluttering last night, and caught up laundry. I managed - barely - to stay up to watch the ladies figure skating finals. USA is out of the medals for the first time in many years; but the ladies who won totally deserved their medals!
My niece is coming for a visit this weekend. I have no idea what we'll do tonight ... probably go out to eat and then just veg in front of the TV. Now that the skating is done, I'm not sure what's left. But, it's all good. :)

Good Morning! Thursday February 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still gray, but at the moment it's dry. We're back to winter, with a high of about 40. The weather people keep saying snow ... but that's only areas an hour and more north of me. I'm hoping for the sun to peep out by this afternoon! :)
Last night I got a little burst of energy ... no idea where it came from. But I got the last of the packed boxes upstairs, straightened up the upstairs room a bit, and re-organized a few "bare spots" downstairs. This weekend the kitchen stuff and last tree will get packed away. I only have a few more weeks, and the snowman collection will have to make way for St. Pat's decorations!
I did watch the guys sing last night. I was more impressed than with the girls - marginally. I find it sad that (so far) no one really stands out to me. I'm hoping that one, or several, of the ones that keep getting voted in will keep getting better.
Tonight is the ladies figure skating finals!

Good Morning! Wednesday February 24, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's chilly and wet, but the frozen stuff - if there is any - will be north of me. Everyone knows I like snow ... but ... now I'm ready for spring! LOL! We do have a few cooler (low 40s) days coming, but after a cloudy day or two, we'll at least see more sunshine.
Last night I watched the "final" 12 girls sing on AI. Jimmy even watched with me ... and I have to say, I wasn't overly impressed. I stayed up late to see some of the ladies figure skating finals ... much nicer to watch! Since there's no figure skating tonight, I will probably watch to see if the guys are any better than the girls. I probably will NOT watch the results show! :)

Good Morning! Tuesday February 23, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Right now it's still a bit overcast and foggy; but that will clear out, and we'll be in the low 60s! Best to enjoy while we can, because by tomorrow we'll be back to those "below normal" 40s. This is all "normal" for us ... but we're still hoping for an early spring! :)
My business class last night was interesting, even though I doubt I'll ever remember much of it. The whole class is pretty much an "overview" of several business courses. I'm enjoying the class, and even if I don't remember much, I'll have my notes!
I got home in time to see the ice dance finals, though it was hard to hold my eyes open! LOL! I was glad to see that other countries have "stepped up their game" enough to (finally) knock the Russians out of the gold ... and very happy for Canada! (and for USA silver!)
Tonight, hopefully, laundry and a few boxes upstairs. I think the ladies singles competition starts tonight. Hopefully most of that won't be until after AI, since I missed that last week.

Good Morning! Monday February 22, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Right now it's a bit overcast; but not "dark and gloomy". The forecast for today is for showers ... and upper 50s! This will make my yard very happy.
Yesterday we got the Christmas outside stuff all tucked away where it belongs. A few things that will be re-purposed are in back waiting for thier transformation. While walking around the yard, we found lots of lovely spring things poking through the dirt! Now that I've seen them, I am SO ready ... but knowing NC, we do have to get through March first.
Tonight I have my business class, and hope to get home in time to see the ice dancing finals. I have no special favorites in this round; though of course, I'd prefer to see USA win. :)

Good Morning! Sunday February 21, 2010

Good morning! It's another gorgeous morning. It's almost dangerous .. two lovely days in a row, makes one feel like spring is on the way. But it's still only February, and I know better! Still, I will certainly try to take advantage of a clear sunny day with temps going to upper 50s!! Yesterday we got a lot done. A really lot! I got 3 loads of laundry and a lot of decluttering done in the morning. Then I picked up my friend, and we tackled the yard. It went super fast ... all of the Christmas is down (except for some things that only needed to be unplugged, which they are). It is all organized, and ready to be taken to the barn or attic, which will probably get done today. We also found time for a quick trip to take trash and plastics to the dump, recycle a load of plastic (grocery) bags, and stop in the ocal second hand store.
Today I will get the last boxes other than kitchen finished (which will get done next weekend) and upstairs, and the upstairs room straghtened again.
It's also time to start perusing seed catalogs and dreaming about spring planting! This is when it's fun having a big yard! :)

Good morning! It's a gorgeous morning! It's bright and clear already. It's around 35 out, but will warm up to low to mid 50s. YAY! Much as I love snow ... I'm tired of it always on weekends. LOL! Today I hope we'll get some of the Christmas things cleared out of the yard ... at least the ones that have toppled over in recent storms. I wanted to leave the lights up around the front door; but since the arch structure fell down, I guess that won't happen. Sad ... time for lights out.
I also have a lot of other things that need to get caught up today. I'm hoping my joints and the weather hold out! :) Tonight, of course, more Olympics. Last night I watched some ice dancing. Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's sunny and clear, and we'll go up into the 50s today. It's looking like we'll actually have a gorgeous weekend, mostly sunny, temps around "normal", maybe even close to 60 by Sunday! Stuff in the yard will definately get done!! :)
Yes, I stayed up too late again. I (mostly) watched the men's figure skating finals. I did keep dozing a bit ... missed most of one performance. LOL! But I was very happy with the results. The young man who won clearly gave a superior performance, and deserved his gold medal!

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's clear and bright, and will go to mid 40s today. The temps are gradually climbing up towards a nice weekend. I know, it's still "winter". But we'll take what we can get! LOL!
Last night ... I ended up opting for Olympics after all. Well, they're only every 4 years. AI is every year ... plus I can still "catch up" when there are fewer contestants to confuse my addled brain! :) Actually, mostly, I stayed in my nice warm cozy chair and read a book, just watching TV when my eyes got tired.
I expect tonight may be a lot more of the same. The men's skating finals are tonight, I know I want to watch that.

Good Morning! Wednesday February 17, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Same forecast as yesterday; and same bright clear chilly morning. They're saying it will "warm up" (50s) by the weekend before the next cold blast. I hope they don't keep changing that! LOL!
Last night it was a hard choice, but I watched Olympics. Figure skating is one of my favorites, and last night was the men's short program. I believe their finals are tomorrow, so again I don't know what I'll choose tonight.
I hope this "warm" spell lasts long enough to get a few things done in the house ... lately it's just been too cold and dark when I get home to bother. And ... it's piling up! LOL!

Today is "Ash Wednesday" ... "Lent Begins" ... "My Way Day" ... "National PTA Founders' Day" ... "World Human Spirit Day".

Good Morning! Tuesday February 16, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast for today is low 40s, partly cloudy, breezy. Right now it is bright and clear ... and cold! :) I'm not sure (because it keeps changing), but I believe it's supposed to be mostly clear and 40s all week.
Last night was my business class (more of a discussion, and more interesting than "dry facts"), and then groceries. I still got home in time to watch the figure skating. I stayed up way too late, but saw the favored Chinese couple get the gold! (and silver, breaking a 12 year Russian dominance on pairs skating). I'm happy for them.
Tonight, a conflict ... Olympics or AI??? I don't know yet what I'll choose. :)

Today is "International Pancake Day" ... "Mardi Gras" ... "Shrove Tuesday" ... "Bursting Day (Iceland)" ... "Independence Day (Lithuania)".

Good Morning! Monday February 15, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast for today is mostly cloudy and maybe rain; but at the moment the sun is shining and it's bright and beautiful out my window. It's supposed to go to mid 40s, so that plus any rain will probably wash away the last of the lingering snow. It's been a strange winter so far ... temps both way above and way below "normal" .... and lots more precipitation than we usually get (the frozen kind that is). I've not heard anyone mention "drought" in a long time! LOL!
We got home around 5:30 last night. I got unpacked and laundry caught up, and then relaxed with a book to read in between figure skating. Well, OK, I admit, I watched quite a bit of the other sports too. :) Most of them are interesting. Well, maybe not cross-country skiing.
Tonight is business class, and then groceries on the way home ... hoping I get home in time to see the pairs skating long program. It might be "unpatriotic" ... but I'm cheering for the older Chinese couple! And I found last night's scoring to be quite strange, so I am wondering what will happen tonight.

Good Morning! Friday February 12, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. At the moment it looks a bit gray ... forecast is confusing for today. It's saying "clouds rolling in" , but looks like they're already here. Low 40s today isn't "freezing", but it sure isn't warm! LOL! And, they're saying the "S" word again. This time the storm system is moving up from the south. If ever we get snow, that's *usually* where it comes from. I'm heading east after work tonight, but there's a fair chance the storm will hit there too. Then again ... we might get the one "real" snow fall at home on a weekend when I'm away! LOL!
Last night I got laundry done, and packing for the weekend. I'm looking forward to a family visit.
I will have computer access, but it tends to be erratic (for one thing, the computer is in the room where my grandson sleeps when we visit, and I won't go wake him up by turning it on.) I"lll try to get the newsletter out ... but just in case, y'all have a good (safe!!) weekend ... and be sure to tell someone you love them!!!

Good Morning! Thursday February 11, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and most of the wind has died down for now. It'll be windy again today, but "they say" not the ferocious winds of yesterday. (winds that blew another storm system past us and to the north!). It'll also be warmer today, mid 40s, and sunny. Nice! :) There's talk of yet another system ... this one from the south ... but looking like it will stop short of most of NC and move out to sea. Storms from the north stop above me. Storms from the south stop below me. What's up with that???? LOL!!
The wind yesterday sucked heat right out of the house, so I did very little last night. Mostly, I stayed wrapped in a quilt, alternating between TV and a book. Not such a bad evening! :) Tonight, I have to get laundry caught up again, and get packed for a weekend visit. This time we're going east ... might even see the snow that's not coming to my house! :)

Yesterday I accidently gave you today's "celebrations". Oops. Time for better reading glasses! LOL!

Good Morning! Wednesday February 10, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Right now the sun is shining; but the forecast is for mid 30s, cloudy (maybe even flurries - I seriously doubt that!), and extraordinarily windy. They got the wind part right for sure! LOL! At my house right now it's about 35 ... but that's in the one spot the morning sun hits, so could be a bit "off".
Last night as soon as I got home we had a plumbing issue ... so I ended up cleaning the bathroom. Oh joy. LOL! So not much else got done. I watched AI (surprisingly, pretty much agreed with the judges picks to stay on), and then mostly was stuck in a new (to me) Kathy Reichs book. Oh, and I did call my grandson Alex to say Happy Birthday! :)
Tonight, hopefully, I'll get that one box upstairs; and maybe even get another packed. Or at least get more of the clutter cleaned.

Good Morning! Monday February 8, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! Sunlight is streaming across the yard ... making the frost sparkle! It will be mid 40s today, and mostly sunny. Yesterday turned out also a lovely sunny day (although still pretty chilly!). I got a lot done though. My dining room is about 95% reclaimed (not counting the one white tree still in the corner). The living room is getting there; and I took 7 or 8 or so boxes upstairs, and tried hard to keep the upstairs relatively straight. My (obvious?) goal is to know what's up there, where it is, and be able to get to it when I want to! :)
Tonight is business class, so won't be home until late. Well, later than usual. Depending on how tired I am, maybe I can get one more box taken up. Mostly all I have left to do ... except those 2 white trees ... is the kitchen. That stuff is on a high shelf; but I'll have to get it down. Eventually! LOL!

Good Morning! Sunday February 7, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's still cold, but the sun is shining brightly, so the gloomy gray is gone. Today will be low 40s and sunny; and it looks like all week will be in the low 40s. I find it so much easiser to get things accomplished inside when it's bright outside (especially since my house tends towards dark all the time). A lot got done yesterday. I picked up my helper friend, and we ran a few errands. Then we came back here and in between HGTV breaks (we're both "decorating-junkies"! LOL!), the big tree came completely down and bagged (even the lights are labeled!). OK, truth is, she did that! :) But I did make several trips up and down stairs. Another full box is packed, and I made some progress on clearing off the table. I have Valentine decorations ... just have to finish clearing away all the clutter so they show up! I really hope today to finish with the clutter, get all the holiday linens washed and packed; and bake some cookies! :)

Good Morning! Saturday February 6, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's gray out, and quite chilly, but not raining. Yesteraay's "showers" (what imaginary forecast did I get that from?? LOL!) was a steady all day pouring rain. I think we're not in a drought any more. :) Today's is for cold - mid to upper 30s - and showers. Well, it also said "flurries"; but not a chance of that here. As long as it's not just pouring all day, things will get done.
Last night I watched a bit of TV, and went to sleep early. Hmmm... early on a Friday night ... am I getting ...*gasp* ... old??? LOL!!
Today I will be more productive. It's harder when it's dreary (S.A.D.D.); but I'll hopefully have some help, and maybe even get out to do some window shopping. It may just depend on how the weather goes today.

Good Morning! Friday February 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's gray and drippy, but it's not ice or sleet (or snow). Today will be upper 30s, mostly cloudy with occasional rain. It may not be a "nice" day to be out, but at least not icy. And I don't plan to be out in it more than coming and going to work! LOL!
I did get 2 loads of laundry done last night. I sort of watched the shows I like; but everything is reruns. I wonder how they can make about 6 new shows and show 24 reruns??? LOL!!
We got a bit more gas in the tank, and "splurged" and turned the heat up a little. So, hopefully, tonight I'll get some ambition or something and get some sorting and cleaning done!

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's starting out grayish again, but the forecast is for mostly sunny until late afternoon, when the next round of rain clouds start arriving. It'll be mid 40s today; not as "warm" as yesterday, but at least not freezing! :)
I'm sure some of you will be shocked to hear ... I didn't watch AI! I decided I've had enough of the auditions, and watched my "usual" police/detective type shows. Oh, and a show about SuperBowl commercials. While a lot of them I could do without, I really love those Clydesdales! LOL!

Good Morning! Wednesday February 3, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Most of the ground in my yard is still white (ice and sleet, not snow, but looks the same!), and the sky is gray. But, the forecast for today is low 50s and mostly sunny. That should take care of what yesterday's rain didn't get. I think there's an old superstition, or something like that, about if snow lays on the ground for 3 days it's waiting for more to join it. Well, there is more snow (flurries only) in the forecast, but that's only north of me. So, maybe mine will all melt off today!
I watched AI last night (nothing overly impressed me; and the judges were acting really weird), then read a bit. That made my eyes tired, so I gave up and went to sleep. Hmmm ... wonder when I'll wake up??? LOL!!

Good Morning! Tuesday February 2, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's gray out, with a promise of rain, and going to around 40 today. That should melt off a lot of the ice still laying around. It was cold last night, so the parts of roads that didn't dry will be icy this morning; but the "main" roads are nice and dry, so I really shouldn't have any trouble going to work.
Last night I still didn't get much done. I threw a few things in a box. But, I finished reading a book! LOL! I didn't even watch much TV .. one rerun. Tonight, however, is AI. Perhaps I'll find a bit of energy somewhere; sure would help if the sun came out. No, wait!! I do NOT want sun ... ah, too late. The groundhog saw his shadow. So PA will have 6 more weeks of winter. But ... is there an NC groundhog??? He surely won't see his shadow this morning! LOL!

Today is "African-American Coaches Day" ... "Groundhog Day" ... "Hedgehog Day" ... "Candlemas (Luxembourg)" ... "Dia De La Candelaria (Mexico)".

Good Morning! Monday February 1, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, lots of sunlight reflecting off the ice. It's cold now, but should go to low 40s today, which will melt off some of the ice (and the rain predicted for tomorrow should get most of the rest of it). A lot of roads are still very slick, but I'm told the "main" roads are clear, so I should n't have any trouble getting to work.
Yesterday was another semi-lazy day. The water came on by early afternoon, and I got watery things (dishes, laundry, showers) done! Our neighbor stopped by to see if we needed anything (he was having no problem getting around in his truck). I got a burst of energy (helped by having actual sunlight coming in the windows! LOL!), got the last tree upstairs, and all the packed boxes up. I also brought down a few more to pack. The big tree is still up, because I have nowhere to put the pieces until I can take it to the barn; and the 2 white trees are up ... just because they're so pretty! :)
I haven't heard anything about the class tonight, but I suspect I won't try to go. I really don't want to be trying to drive once it gets dark and whatever is left freezes.
If you have to get out today ... be careful!

Today is "Freedom Day" ... "Hula in the Coola Day" ... "Robinson Crusoe Day" ... "Working Naked Day".

"The squeaking wheel doesn't always get the grease. Sometimes it gets replaced."
