Good Morning! Saturday July 31, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's misty out, and may not "burn off" this morning. Today will be cloudy, high 80s (may not even get to 90! Wow!), and a good chance of showers by this afternoon.
Last night we went out after I got home from work, to eat and then run some errands. I didn't get everything on my list ... we got too tired! LOL! No, I didn't get *that* much. It was just late and still pretty warm. We did go over to Lowes to check out spillways ... but if we go that route, we'll have to build our own. They're very pretty (would look so nice in the pond), but too expensive. And I am just smitten with a bubbler that has little lights that make it look like the bubbling top has a fire inside!
This morning I'm going to try to finish my errands, and then hopefully get some laundry, cleaning and projects done around the house. With it a touch cooler, I should be able to get a lot done ... if I can stay away from the computer! :)

Good Morning! Friday July 30, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's pale but clear out, and will be mostly sunny today. We're still going to mid 90s (yesterday at 5:30 the clock in town said 102, after a forecast of low 90s - so who knows!); but it should be less humid. No showers today, so watering tonight I think. They're saying a good chance of storms later in the weekend ... but again, "they" could be wrong! LOL!
Last night I updated some scheduling paperwork, and ( ** gasp **) worked on that boring sewing project! Tonight we will probably run some errands after work, so not likely to get much done at home (though hoping to get laundry started). Perhaps I'll be able to fit some sewing in over the weekend .. after all, I'll need breaks from all my other projects! :)

Good Morning! Thursday July 29, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's a bit overcast and misty, but the forecast is for partly cloudy so this early morning mist will most likely burn off. I tend to forget that technically the days are getting shorter now. Today will be back in the mid to upper 90s, humid, and chances of afternoon storms. There was no rain at my house yesterday, so if no rain today I'll be running the sprinker again!
zYesterday I stopped by the grocery store on my way home. I really only meant to get bread; but Breyer's was on sale!! What can I say? LOL!! Then last night I finally got to working on my sewing project. I'm at a boring step, but I've set myself a "deadline" to finish so I need to push on to get the boring parts done and get busy sewing.
Tonight I'm going to try hard to finish the phase I'm on so by the weekend I can get to sewing (in between a zillion other weekend projects! LOL!). It should be a good TV night (for just sitting and doing the sewing project); but if it's all reruns, I might get distracted. :)

Sad Goodbye

I have trouble attracting followers. I know, my blog isn't all that interesting .. but I do try! :) For a long time I've had a total of 5 followers among my 3 blogs ... all of a sudden today I only have 3. A blog is supposed to attract followers, not lose them!
I sure would welcome some input about what to do! Ideas? Suggestions?

Anyone?????

Good Morning! Wednesday July 28, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's mistly out with a good chance of showers, and only low 90s today. Yesterday it started raining on my way to work ... and rained off and on all day! YAY! Lovely lovely rain, and hoping for more of it today. :)
Last night I spent most of the evening working on important paperwork. It's now done, and I'm looking forward to a new phase in my life. Well, hopefully anyway. I got a little bit of spot-cleaning done too.
Tonight, other than catch up laundry (maybe! LOL!), I shouldn't have anything else to do but work on a sewing project. I've even made room for the part I need to do now ... just need to do it! :)

Good Morning! Tuesday July 27, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. The "official" forecast for today is 89, but I expect we'll still be low 90s. It'll be mostly cloudy; we didn't get rain (again) yesterday, but there's a pretty good chance of it today.
Yesterday was fairly productive. I got a little bit of paperwork taken care of; my bathtub is caulked, and the shower curtain washed; the chair seat covers are cleaned; and I got a few quick errands done in town too. Of course, I had help! LOL! Today is back to work ... I've discovered I really like NOT working on Mondays! LOL! Tonight I will be getting back on the sewing ... I even cleared away junk on the sewing table that's been in the way. :)

Good Morning! Monday July 26, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sky is faintly "milky" this mornign, but it's bright and still out right now. Today should be "much cooler" ... only low 90s; but partly cloudy and chances of showers and storms. I heard on the news there were storms last night ... none were anywhere near me of course. I ran the sprinklers for about 3 hours!
Yesterday turned into a fun day for unexpected reasons. I didn't get much done at home, just too hot. My friend and I took my niece (and her pizza table) home. Then we decided since we were already in Raleigh, to go by a store for things we can't find locally. And while there, it wasn't far to go by where I grew up, just to see what has changed (not much except painted). If a car hadn't been pulling out of the drive right at that moment, I might have been tempted to stop! I also went by the elementary school I went to ... or at least, where it used to be. It was brand new - I went there the first year it opened. Now they've completely torn it down and built a new one. Wow.
I'm taking a vacation day today, and have lots of things planned. I have to start my retirement paperwork; clean the kitchen; deal with some laundry; scrub the needlepoint chair covers (soaking now); take trash to the dump; and clean the old caulking around the tub. And maybe go pick some blueberries! :)

Good Morning! Sunday July 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Of course, I haven't stepped outside .. it's clear and bright and breezy, but also already upper 80s. Forecast for today is 102. Since I'm told this is "normal" I suppose I should get used to it. Not. LOL!! By tomorrow the worst of this heat should back off, and even a good chance of rain.
Yesterday we got more done than I thought we would. My niece and I picked up a friend and we went to town to check out a new coffee shop. (it is very nice ... anyone near Benson, I highly recommend it!!). We came back to the house so Jimmy could use the car awhile (2nd car unavailable until a new radiator is put in it next week). We got all the needlepoint seat covers off and ready to clean, and 2 of the chairs are glued and clamped. Hopefully I'll soon have a set of gorgeous old needlepoint dining room chairs. :) Late in the afternoon we made a quick grocery store run; and everything outside got a good watering.
I've been surprised at no comments about the little table that was my project. But, my niece loves it, and since it's hers that's all that really matters. Today we'll take her ... and her table ... home. In this heat ... we probably won't even attempt anything else. Hopefully tonight I'll get to work on my sewing project again.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and the forecast is for 101 (knowing it may be a touch higher here), with heat indexes around 110. Yikes. Today we will not be going to "open air" flea markets! LOL! Some of those afternoon storms would be welcome, but I'm not looking for that to happen. We will be watering this evening. :)
I don't really know what we'll do today. It'll be sort of see what we feel like (or what it's not too hot to do). I don't have anything in particular planned; but if it ends up just too hot to go anywhere, maybe I'll get to work on my sewing project.

Good Morning! Friday July 23, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Yesterday was hot, today will be hotter ... quite likely triple digits. We're on the edge of setting all kinds of heat records (oh, but wait, I'm wrong, I'm told this is "normal". Hmmm. I guess I want to move to Hawaii! LOL!) There's always the chance of those heat-induced afternoon storms, though more often than not they miss my house.
Last night was busy. After work I got the plant I needed (which I have to pot this morning - yikes!). It was difficult to choose, being it was about 98 in the plant area! I also got the final step done on my project, and I got laundry (mostly) caught up. And, with all that going on, the neighbor came by to visit. It was a busy evening!
Tonight my niece will be here, and I doubt we'll do anything but sweat ... uh, I mean veg ... in front of the TV! LOL!

Good Morning! Thursday July 22, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! We got rain last night, and this morning everything is bright and fresh. OK, it wasn't a "lot" of rain ... we got several really strong storms that only lasted less than 10 minutes. Still, it was a good soaking on top of earlier watering. (and it looks like my apple tree isn't dead after all! Yay!). Today, and the next few days, will be tough. The forecast is for upper 90s, probably triple digits in the next few (possibly even today), humid, and more afternoon storms. The weatherman calls it a "heat hostage" situation! LOL!
Last night my friend came over and we got the "fun part" of the little project done. Between the heat and the storms (lots of thunder and lightening), I didn't get much else done. Tonight I have to run a quick errand; catch up laundry; and finish the project (if the weather permits). And, hopefully, since none of those will take too long, I'll get more done on my sewing project. :)

Good Morning! Wednesday July 21, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's faintly "dim" this morning ... not quite cloudy, but not completely clear either. Yes, I know, that doesn't make any sense! LOL! Anyway, it will be up close to, if not over, 100 today; partly cloudy and humid with chances of afternoon storms. Yesterday some very strong storms moved across the state. Once again, they circled around me - I did get thunder and lightening. I'm not sorry, of course, to miss the damage; but we sure need more rain.
Last night I did a little better: I got the next step on my project done, some cleaning done, and worked on my sewing project. There are a lot of steps on the sewing project that don't involve actual sewing ... I guess I put them off because they're boring! LOL!
Tonight I get to work on a fun stage of my project; that one may take longer, so don't know if there'll be any sewing. Of course, with this crazy weather(though typical ... having been put straight about how wrong I am thinking the weather this summer is "unusual", merely because the weatherman said so! LOL!), no telling what will happen. :)

Good Morning! Tuesday July 20, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, no morning mist today. It'll be upper 90s, maybe even hit 3 digits by this afternoon; and almost no chance of rain. We did get another shower last night, so everything is ok for now ... but will probably need watering again by this evening.
Last night was a pretty good night. I got another step done on the "small project"; had a lovely conversation with one of my nieces (and looking forward to a visit!); and got more of my upcoming fall-into-Christmas scheduling done. I also watched some new shows on TBS ... a station I rarely think to check ... which I enjoyed.
Tonight I plan to get the next step done (all will be revealed eventually, I promise! LOL!), and some work on a sewing project.

Good Morning! Monday July 19, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Again, as is becoming the norm, it's faintly overcast. It's not "dark", but not clear and bright either. It will be mostly cloudy today, lower 90s but with humidity. And, again, there's a chance of showers in the afternoon. I do hope for more rain, as watering hasn't been enough.
Yesterday I got some progress made on my small project, some decluttering done, last of the laundry finished, and even made a quick run to a store for a paintbrush (that I KNOW I bought but can't find! This getting old stuff is getting old! LOL!).
Tonight I will work on my project, and (hopefully) a few more steps in my current (but long-neglected) sewing project.

Good Morning! Sunday July 18, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast for today is partly cloudy, but at the moment it's quite bright out. They say low 90s and a chance of afternoon storms. Yesterday it stayed cloudy all day; but by mid afternoon it was very dark, and by late afternoon we got wonderful storms! I heard on the news some places had wind damage, but it didn't get that bad here. We had some thunder and lightening, and RAIN! Not enough, of course, but a lot just the same. I've already lost some things in the garden ... watering is never enough ... but hopefully everything else will perk up now. A possibility of more this afternoon is good too.
Yesterday didn't go at all like I thought ... which I'm sure comes as no surprise to anyone! LOL! My "cleaning schedule" got put on a back-burner ... just too hot to deal with. We were just ready to leave for some errands when a lady showed up, just begging to let her demonstrate a vacuum. So, OK, I get 2 rooms of carpets vacuumed for free. Of course, I'm NOT buying a Kirby. No matter how good they are (and they really are GOOD), they're not worth $1400!!!! Just before she left, the electrician finally showed up. After some initial exploration, he announced that he would have to go under the house to do some wiring ... and he will not do that until the landlord sprays under there for spiders!!! Eeewwww ... don't blame him! LOL! So, at the very least a few more days with everything out of place and no a/c in th den. We did finally get out, take trash to the dump, and run some errands. We stopped at Wendy's for a salad, and that was it for the day. I didn't even get to work on my project, but hoping for that today. :)

Balloons

Sometimes I wonder where is the "appropriate" place to put something I want to talk about ... but then I realize, hardly anyone reads any of my blogs anyway. At least, I have only one "follower" here, 3 at the most on another blog; and very rarely get comments. So, maybe I never say anything worth commenting on? Hmmmm. But even if someone posted "how boring", I'd know they were there! LOL!
Anyway. Today is my "official" 11 year anniversary at work. Yesterday I got 11 balloons. My corner cubby looked like a circus tent! Well, it's a silly and trivial thing ... but ... it is nice that they acknowledge how long an employee has been there. A raise .. or a lunch .. or some such would be nice. Oh, I forgot .. I don't work for the government! LOL!

Good Morning! Saturday July 17, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's overcast, and there's a good chance of showers and storms. I am really hoping for some reain! It will still be hot, lower 90s ... we're on our way to being the hottest summer on record. Oh goody. LOL!
Last night the electrician didn't come, again. I spent a lot of time working out some lists and schedules. Oh, if only I were as good at following through as I am at making them! I wonder if I could get paid to just make up lists and schedules? LOL!!!
Today - providing I don't spend too much time here playing - I hope to get a lot of things checked off my long list. I've gone from no future plans to potentially 4 or 5 busy weekends ... and still haven't heard from one niece whom I was hoping could come visit. So, I really need to get busy on my projects on the "less" busy weekends! :)

Good Morning! Friday July 16, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's Friday, it's payday, and we're having a party (baby shower) at work. It will still be hot .. mid to upper 90s. But it may be a bit breezy today, that will help. They're saying partly cloudy (misty again so far), and maybe storms. I'm still hoping for rain!
The electrician didn't come last night. So, bookcases still in the way, waiting for him to show up. Do y'all think my boss would mind if I did that ... just show up when it suits me? LOL!! I didn't get much done, because we kept waiting for him. I did get the shower gift wrapped (but taking extra paper to work in case someone can do it better! LOL!).
Tonight ... who knows. I have a lot planned for the weekend. I'll either try to get a "jump-start" on things .... or I'll "rest up" first! :)

Good Morning! Thursday July 15, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Again, we have the morning mist - it's actually very pretty, gives the yard a glow and soft edges. It will burn off soon enough, and we'll be mid to upper 90s again. Though there's always that "chance" of afternoon showers, there's really very little rain in the forecast. I have to replace a "broken" hose to use the sprinkler, but that will happen soon.
Last night was busy, but not the way I expected. An electrician (finally) showed up ... we have a "big" a/c that was given to us, but the outlet (that is supposed to be just for a big unit) doesn't work. He'll come back today to see what he can do about finding the problem ... but .... I had to move a small bookcase from the wall below the fuse box. Yuck. I sure hope my walls aren't going to get all torn up!! I would love to paint ... but on my own time schedule please! LOL!
I guess he'll be back tonight ... if he's messing around with the electricity .... it may be a read-by-battery-lantern night! LOL!

Good Morning! Wednesday July 14, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's starting out misty, and may be mostly cloudy, "only" low 90s. There's a chance of showers; but they said that yesterday, and while a lot got storms, we got nothing. Maybe today will be our turn! :)
Last night was another seeking and sorting paperwork night - not as successful - and not much else. Oh, wait, I did go shopping on the way home first, for a baby shower gift. That was fun! :) Tonight I don't know what I'll be doing ... but I'm going to push to get something done, and not just sit in front of the TV or computer. (not sure why tonight should be different? LOL!)
We'll see how that works out! :)

Good Morning! Tuesday July 13, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's mistly again this morning, and may be a touch "cooler" today - upper 80s. Wow, no 90s? It will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers. We had a pretty good storm yesterday evening; and though we could use a lot more, it was a really good long shower. I'm hoping we get more today ... my garden already looks happier!
Last night we had some minor (at least, hope it was! LOL!) car trouble. Messing around with that pretty much took up the evening. I did manage to locate one of the sets of paperwork I've been looking for. YAY! I don't even know what I'll try to do tonight - continue the paperwork search; or start the "small project"; or do some sewing; or maybe just read! :)

Good Morning! Monday July 12, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. At least, it will be when the fog burns off! What a surprise to see that. But later today, it will be low to mid 90s, only partly cloudy but humid. The chances of rain aren't very good, but they say later in the week it's coming. I tried to set up the sprinkler last night, and found out the hose had been damaged. Then I couldn't connect to the shorter hose. So, I will get out with the hose this morning; and buy new hose on payday! LOL!
I had a totally lazy day yesterday. We went out in the late afternoon for some supplies for a small project and a bite to eat at Wendy's. When we came home, I went next door and brought home my new kitten. She's a pretty little calico, her name is Maggie ... and right now she's shut in the kitchen crying pitifully! (this house is too big to let her roam all of it yet). I would love to bring home one of her sisters to keep her company; but I think Jimmy might have something to say about that! LOL! Oh well, she'll be fine.
Tonight I start working on the "small project". I needed something else, right? :)

Good Morning! Sunday July 11, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. At the moment it's bright and clear, and comfortable. It will get warm again, low 90s, and maybe afternoon storms. Last night we (finally) had one of the showers move through. It wasn't much rain, but every little bit helps.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon at a friend's house with some of her other friends. They knitted and crocheted, and I worked on assembling more pieces of a quilt. It was a nice relaxing afternoon! I got home in time to take some trash to the dump; and then I finally got the dreaded grocery shopping done! :) During the evening I got a few more bits and pieces of decluttering done, but not really very much. Perhaps I'll make up for it today. The laundry is done, only a little bit of cleaning I need to get done. I have a cobbler in the oven. I think maybe this afternoon I'll start on a small (outdoor) project. Oh, and perhaps I'll get started on the chairs ... I have enough (borrowed) clamps to glue at least one! :)

Good Morning! Saturday July 10, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It's all grayish and overcast, which means a reasonably good possibility of rain. It might not make it into the 90s today, though I'm not so sure on that. Last night the weather guy was talking about record-setting number of days in a row in the 90s (and didn't we do the same thing with cold weather this winter?). The garden doesn't mind the heat, but we sure could use some rain.
I got most of my laundry done last night, but not much else; nothing much on TV, so I went to bed early. I got up this morning full of good intentions ... and not much energy! LOL! Oh well. I have cleaned the kitchen and swept; I just have to finish putting the laundry away, and get things ready to go to a friend's house for the afternoon. I will probably do the long-put-off grocery shopping on the way home. :)

Good Morning! Friday July 9, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. There's a faint mist, but it's quickly burning off. Today will be mid to upper 90s ... not exactly the "cool down" they predicted! We may get scattered afternoon storms (which means, of course, running sprinklers again!). Yesterday got hotter than predicted; well, it is summer! Although we're running a bit above normal, hot is "usual" for NC in July.
Last night I worked on some "seek-and-rescue" missions, searching for paperwork! LOL! I found most of what I was looking for. Also, my 2 grandsons (who live in GA) came by to say good bye ... going back home after much too short a visit. We won't see them again until Christmas (and we're more than half way there now! Woo Hoo! LOL!)
Tonight I have to (finally) go to the grocery store, and then catch up with the never-ending laundry. I expect that's all I'll get done! Well, it's Friday, so Yay! Weekend coming! :)

Good Morning! Thursday July 8, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It will be a lot "cooler" than yesterday ... only low 90s! LOL! Yesterday we set high temps records. The weatherman noted that we had also set cold temp records this year. Oh well. :) It's a bit overcast this morning, and will be mostly cloudy ... hopefully with some showers. Even with watering, a good summer rain makes my garden so happy!
Last night Jimmy decided it was too hot to cook. OK with me, I needed to get some things in town anyway. It was late when we got back; but I didn't expect to get anything done anyway. :) I don't know if I will tonight either; except I might bring home a new kitten tonight.
It feels a bit "odd" to not have anything planned. I am going to a friend's house Saturday; but I have no trips to make until October, and no one coming to visit planned at the moment. I'm hoping to work out visits from 2 of my nieces, and would love to be able to take weekend trips both west and east ... but nothing is lined up for now. Hmmm ... I really *should* get sewing done!! :)

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's going to be a very hot day ... most likely record-setting. The forecast is for 102, and we're normally a bit higher. Yikes. Not a day for anything outside for sure. The plants will get watered before I leave this morning ... no rain in sight for several days at least.
Lat night I got a few things stored away upstairs (I'm really running out of room up there! LOL!). My DDIL & grands got home from their CA trip around midnight ... everyone but me is sleeping in this morning! Hmmmm. They'll go home today; and I'm really going to miss Sophie (pup). Perhaps tonight I'll bring home my new kitten. Well, no, maybe I'll wait one more night ... until I go get a litter box and kitten food! LOL!

Good Morning! Tuesday July 6, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's bright and clear, and already warm. The forecast is for 98, and since we are south of the forecast area, probably around 100 here today. Wow. Is this "global warming"? Or just "eastern warming"? :)
Yesterday was busy. We ran a bunch of errands ... seemed like I spent the whole day coming and going. But, I did get some things done here. More laundry hung out, and put up. Some furniture re-arranged. It is getting frustrating, though, to have so many projects on-going, and not get time to just sit and sew.
Tonight I will need to do just a bit more cleaning. Family will be returning from an out-of-state visit, and will be here tonight. They go on back home tomorrow ... sadly, I will lose "custody" of the dog. (but I get to claim a kitten!).

Good Morning! Monday July 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! The heat is back, although now it's not quite so unusual. Mid 90s today (and upper 90s by midweek). We have lots of clear sunny days ahead ... so back to watering for sure!
Yesterday was one of the laziest 4th-of-Julys I've ever had. I did get a lot done (cleaned out drawers; put up new shelves; laundry hung on the line & put up; small bits of furniture moved; more stuff put away upstairs), I still dawdled a lot. In the end, we both felt too lazy to go anywhere, so I watched Boston Pops. It was so wonderful ... beautiful fireworks (which I love), great music ... and no bugs! LOL!
Today I go run errands. The flea market is holding a small dresser I need to get; and the trip for groceries that I keep putting off must be done today! And, before the day is out, hook up the sprinkers again. :)

Good Morning! Sunday July 4, 2010

Good morning! It is a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, and will get to about 90ish today. A perfect lovely day for America's birthday celebration! :)
Yesterday was busy, though we didn't end up doing all that much. I took my grandson out to breakfast; then we took him and my friend to Smithfield. We had planned to stop by and recylce 3 bags full of cans .. but the place wasn't open. :( We went on to Lowe's and got stuff to fix chairs, to put up some shelves, to caulk around the tub, and the (hopefully last) piece to get my new pond filter up and running. Then we spent several hours browsing through a huge flea market (and telling my grandson NO you can't take home a kitten!! LOL!!). We ate barbeque sandwiches on the way home. Later, one more quick stop at the grocery store, and that was it. Meantime, there were 6 little boys in my den playing TV games. Yikes! LOL!
Today will be much quieter. I'll be doing laundry, putting up the new shelves (painted them last night), and hopefully find time for some reading, some sewing, and maybe even some baking. We're invited to a cook-out tonight, but it's some people that we don't know (son's girlfriend's family), so probably won't do that. I dearly love fireworks, so mostly hoping to just ride into town to watch. Or else will go to a friend's house and go with them ... just haven't decided yet. :)

Good Morning! Saturday July 3, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. We're still having a high of mid 80s, clear and bright and just a touch of breeze. It's still much less humid than it normally is this time of year, and just a wonderful day for being outside. This is the spring we were *supposed* to have but skipped for the super-hot June! LOL!
Yesterday was quite busy. I managed to do a bit of cleaning before leaving the house for work ... nothing drastic, but enough for the house to give the illusion of being clean. :) It was busy at work, as the boss is on vacation and I have to fill in one tiny bit of her duties. I got off early (not to worry - made up the time at lunch earlier in the week!), met my brother, and got a car title transferred. Then we came back here and had a nice visit. He brought me some more things from our parents; and we had fun watching the 2 dogs interact ... or rather, try to. The little one was very territorial and barky when the bigger one was outside ... but when she came in, the little one tried to hide! LOL!
Today I have no idea what I will be doing. Astonishing as it is, I haven't made any plans. My house is "clean enough" for now; and I have a 3 day weekend. Tomorrow there will be July 4th activities (we're invited to a cookout). But today ... I think maybe I'll go get some supplies to work on the chair project, and also to put some small shelves in my kitchen. :)
