Good Morning! Sunday October 31, 2010

Good morning! It's beautiful morning. It seems like we waited longer this year, but it's now that wonderful time of year I love so much ... mildly warm days, cool nights, and so many gorgeous things in bloom! Today will be low 70s, clear and sunny.
Yesterday: I usually have a hard time changing plans with short notice. But, I didn't have much planned except TV (quiet plans! LOL!); so when I got a last minute chance to do something, I took it. I met my DS, DDIL, DGS, and DGD at a corn maze! It was just a perfect day for being outside, and it was a lot of fun. And ... we found all 12 "markers", and were only there about 2 hours. I did get most of the other things done I had planned, so it was a really nice day.
Today: This will still be a quiet day. I'm not going to try to "catch up" ... nothing but routine cleaning to do. And of course, the never-ending laundry. I have some "easy" projects to tackle, such as gluing another chair, pruning a plant (that Maggie thought it was fun to climb - one of the reasons she is currently confined to the kitchen), assembling the new chair, and maybe cleaning the clutter under the kitchen sink. :)

Today is "Halloween" ... "All Hallows Eve" ... "Beggar's Night" ... "Magic Day" ... "National Knock-Knock Day" ... "National UNICEF Day" ... "Reformation Day" ... "Admission Day (Nevada)".

"I always wanted a happy ending... Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity."
-- Gilda Radner

Good Morning! Saturday October 30, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear and seasonably mild. Today will be upper 60s and mostly sunny. It's just a lovely fall day.
Yesterday: We had a great time, though it was a long day. My friend, her son, my niece and I first went to the Farmer's Market. It is a wonderful place to go in the fall! There is so much yummy fresh produce, flowers, pumpkins; the weather was cool enough to be comfortable walking around; and going on a weekday meant not quite such a crowd to navigate! It was all so colorful and smelled so good. I came home with tomatoes, snap beans, and apple cider. Then we went across town to the "re-store" (a habitat store). I'm so excited ... I've been wanting ceiling fans for several rooms, but at $80 to $100 and up, I just couldn't do it (at least, not for a rental house). So, I found THREE perfect fans (with light fixtures) for UNDER $60 - that's totall for all 3!! Woo Hoo!! Now I just have to get someone to install them for me! LOL! Then we decided it was time to eat, and I made the misake of getting "caught" in rush hour traffic. Yikes!! Now I remember why we haven't moved back "to town". Anyway, we finally reached a cafeteria, had a nice supper, and then walked around a shopping center a bit. There were several unique stores, and I even managed to do a bit of Christmas shopping!
Today: I will be playing "catch up" ... slowly and quietly. DH rode down to GA and back (a full 24 hours) to watch our grandson play his last football game. He'll be sleeping all day! I have several things lined up to work on ... including vegging out in front of the TV for some afternoon HGTV! :)

Good Morning! Friday October 29, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! All the clouds have moved out, it's bright and clear ... and very cool! Today will only get to the low 60s. And tonight it will go down into the 30s! Wow, what a change ... better make sure all the plants that stay outside are protected. We've had a fair amount of rain lately, and lots of flowers are blooming today.
Yesterday: I got a bit more clearing done, and some laundry. I got a new desk chair out of the box ... but will wait for help assembling it. It may be a mistake ... if I'm actually comfortable sitting here (computer and sewing machine), I may never leave! LOL!
Today: Another vacation day ... I have quite a few to take before the end of the month! It's SO nice to sleep "late"! (7:00 is late if you're used to 6:00!!). Later on I'm picking up a friend and a niece, and we're going to the Farmer's Market. We sure have a perfect day for that! We may check out some other places since we're going all the way to "the big town"! :)

Good Morning! Thursday October 28, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still dark out, with more left over cloudy. Last night a string of strong storms moved across the state; we got more rain, but none of the storms. There may be a few this morning, but mostly it will clear to partly cloudy and around 80 by this afternoon. The storms are a natural by-product of this unseasonably warm weather. I think by tomorrow it's supposed to get back closer to "normal".
Yesterday: We didn't end up going out, the weather was too "iffy". I managed to clean a fairly good size chunk of my room, that always seems to accumulate clutter.
Today: Now that I've cleared room, I plan to try to assemble a new desk chair. I'm not very "mechanical"! LOL! So, hopefully I can manage this. Plus, more good shows to watch tonight! :)

Yesterday we tied a record high for the date at 81, and today will probably set a new record at upper 80s. It's very warm and muggy this morning, but will be breezy and partly sunny by afternoon. We had rain off and on yesterday, and maybe some more this afternoon.
Yesterday: I ran a lot of errands yesterday, both at lunch time and after work. By the time I got home and put up groceries (last stop), I just didn't much care if anything else got done ... so it didn't. :)
Today: We may go on a shopping excursion tonight for DH's birthday present (from last week); or, it may wait until the weekend. I've pretty much got things put away from the weekend, but a few hot-spots are piling up again, so maybe I'll get to a bit of decluttering.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Or at least, it will be when it's daylight! LOL! It's darker and darker, plus some lingering clouds. It's supposed to be lower 80s today, and breezy - blowing away most of the clouds by afternoon. Yesterday was warm and rainy; several storms moved through, way on into the night. Lovely rain, no more watering for awhile anyway.
Yesterday: I discovered a lot of left-over tired! LOL! But, I managed to unpack, do 2 loads of laundry, and a mega-shopping spree. It was interesting ducking in and out of stores between showers (and waiting for computers to come back on line because the power kept blinking!).

Good Morning! Monday October 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's extraordinarily warm for late October, upper 70s; close to 80. It's very cloudy and damp this morning, and looks to be a rainy day with maybe even storms by afternoon. We need the rain, and other than the strangely warm day, it is a "normal" fall day.
Yesterday: It was hard to say so many good-byes again, but so lovely to have had such a good weekend. I got to meet a "long-lost" cousin and his family, which I enjoyed very much. We hung around visiting family until early afternoon, but did finally have to head home. We took a "scenic detour" ... such a gorgeous day!!. It was right at dark when we got home, too tired to do anything. It sure was nice to come home to a clean house!
Today: I'm very glad I took today as another vacation day. I got to sleep late (even Maggie was content to behave!), and take my time getting laundry done and unpacking done. I'm going on a shopping excursion later, if it's not too rainy. Mostly though I hope to just get rested before going back to work tomorrow. :)

Good Morning! Sunday October 24, 2010

Good morning! It is a beautiful morning. It's pleasantly cool, and will be warm later. It will be a lovely day for driving home.
Yesterday: We had a fun day. Family and friends met in the hotel lobby, and we all went to Cracker Barrell for breakfast (and yes, some shopping!)
Then I went with my sister and her girls, and all 5 of us had our hair "done". After that it was time to start getting ready for the evening, but time to do so leisurely.
We rode the shuttle from the hotel to th wedding venue ... what an absolutely beautiful place! It's an historic mansion, and just couldn't have been prettier.
The wedding was perfectly beautiful, traditional in a "fairy tale" setting. It was outdoors, the weather completely perfect.
The receiption was "in and out", with a huge tent for a sit-down dinner (complete with heaters after dark), a live band, and all the "traditional" elements:
first dance, daddy with his little girl dance, etc., plus tossing the bouquet, wonderful wedding cake, champagne toast.
I truly believe God has smiled on these two precious young people! Our "group" left in various stages; my sister and I left around 10:00. I think the younger ones
(including bride and groom) were planning to party all night! LOL!
Today: In just a little white I'm walking to the next door hotel to tell my brother and sister-in-law good bye. Then I'll meet the rest of the family in our lobby for good-byes.
I have to get DH up, and get us packed and checked out by 11:00. After that I meet my cousin for lunch, before we have a leisurely drive home.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's cool and crisp and sunny, and will be a lovely day.
Yesterday: I got (nearly) everything done I needed to, and we got on the road by shortly after noon. It took longer to get here than I expected;
but we got here (VA), got checked in, and met up with family. We all went out to Olive Garden and ate too much. Then we sat around in one of the
hotel lobbies (we're divided between two hotels, right next to each other) and visited.
Today: In just a few minutes we're meeting to go out to breakfast. This afternoon I will do my best to hem the jacket sleeves ... but if they don't get done,
he can just wear them long! LOL! This is going to be such a wonderful day.

Good Morning! Friday October 22, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright, no fog or clouds this morning. Today will be mid 60s and sunny. Later today we'll be heading 3 hours north, so possibly a bit cooler; but still a perfect fall day.
Yesterday: It was a gorgeous day, and we were in and out all day. I didn't get as much housework done as I hoped, but some; and some yard work got done. My plants are pretty much sorted, and all but a couple of hardier ones have been brought in for the winter. The jacket didn't get hemmed, but I have a needle and thread ready to pack. :)
Today: This will be a busy morning, finishing packing and what ever last minute stuff I think up to do. We'll be leaving around noon, heading for Virginia for the weekend. I am so looking forward to being with family for such a happy gathering (niece's wedding)!
The kitten thinks the plants are a new toy for her, so she's still confined to the kitchen. Actually, it's a kitchen-den, and she has plenty of room to run, and everything she needs. She loves to perch on the top of the back of my chair and survey her kingdom! LOL!

Good Morning! Thursday October 21, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's very foggy again, but that should begin to burn off soon. Today will be mid to upper 70s, breezy and sunny. What a great day to be able to get outside and do things! We did get rain yesterday; not much, but every bit helps.
Yesterday: I finished hemmng the suit pants! Yay! LOL! I haven't tackled the jacket sleeves yet, but will start those tonight. I hope I can finish tonight; but if I don't, I can always take my needle and thread with us this weekend. :)
Today: As you can (probably) see, I'm later ... I got to "sleep in"! Ahhhh ... nice. It'a a vacation day, and later I have lots of things to do. I need to get some cleaning done before I go off for the weekend; a few errands I need to do (post office, bills to pay), and a hair appointment. Also, I need to do last-minute laundry and start packing! OK, I confess, I've already started; but today I need to make significant progress ... that means deciding what to take! :)
The kitten was very good this morning, and curled up by my legs to sleep instead of trying to eat my toes. I'll probably let her "escape" from the kitchen for awhile later today.

Good Morning! Wednesday October 20, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. At the moment, I can't see anything beyond the porch except fog! Wow, been a long time since we've had morning fog. Today will be mostly cloudy, upper 60s, and *maybe* a chance for a sprinkle.
Yesterday: I got the grocery shopping done. Better, the pants fit! So I got progress made on hemming them. I didn't finish as I was hoping; but I got the hard part done ... measuring and pinning! The actual stitching won't take too long.
Today: My main focus tonight will be finishing hemming and pressing the suit pants; and (hopefully) get started on the jacket sleeves.
The kitten is still in the kitchen; but she's been calmer lately, so I may let her out a bit ... only a few more weeks and she won't be able to roam until January!

Good Morning! Tuesday October 19, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It looks a bit cloudy ... the sky is purple-ish with dark pink streaks. But the forecast for today is mostly sunny and low 80s. Wow. After today it will cool down a bit; but no rain in sight. Late October and still watering!!
Yesterday: I spent most of the evening working on alterations to the suit pants. I don't know yet if they'll fit or not. I enjoyed Dancing a lot; and did not agree with the judges about Jennifer. All the rest, though, I sort of agreed. Like it matters? LOL!
Today: I have to go to the grocery store on the way home. Tonight (another good TV night!)I either hem the pants ... or try to make another pair fit!
Kitten: She is remaining in the kitchen for now. She might as well get used to it ... she sure won't be allowed out when decorations go up! I do NOT need a kitten up a tree! LOL!
Sewing: For now just working on the suit.

Good Morning! Monday October 18, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's pale gold, just fading to blue ... there's less and less of the daylight; but soon DST will switch back and I'll have lovely sunrises (and come home in the dark!). Today will be very nice: low 80s, mostly clear and sunny.
Yesterday: I did pretty well considering how tired I was (my legs are still tired this morning! LOL!). I got laundry caught up (and put up), moved some plants, did a bit of cleaning, and even cooked dinner.
Today: I don't think I have any errands scheduled. Tonight is Dancing; Jennifer is still my favorite!
Kitten: She is still shut in the kitchen, having decided that anything she can reach is her toy. That includes things hanging from the ceiling!! She is doing much better about calming down at night though.
Sewing: I have Jimmy's suit pants length marked, tonight I pin and start stitching the hems; and hopefully get the sleeve length marked too.

Good Morning! Sunday October 17, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and I believe will be a touch warmer than yesterday, mid 70s. There's still no rain in sight, but today a lot of plants will come inside, and all will get watered.
Yesterday: It was a long and busy day, and we had a great time! We stopped first at the Farmer's Market (and plan to go back in a few weeks when we have more time!), and then spent all day at the Fair. We got to see all the exhibits we wanted; did a little bit of Christmas shopping; and tried a few "odd" foods; but actually, not very much. We were SO tired by the time we got home! LOL!
Today: Tired or not, I have a list of things that need to get done. DH has to try on his suit so I can mark the hems; plants need to come in (nights getting too cool), and a few mums need homes in the garden; spot cleaning is always needed.
Kitten: She is once again shut in the kitchen because she refuses to accept that my sewing table is NOT an appropriate place for her! LOL!
Sewing: Hopefully I'll do that tonight while watching TV, if I stay awake.
Reading: Probably won't get to that again today. Then again, I just got a new book (free swap in the mail! Gotta love it!), a Clinton Kelly book about how to be fabulous. Hmmm .... may have to find a minute or two for that! LOL!

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Today will be clear and mild, upper 60s. A truly perfect day!
Yesterday: We decided to go out to eat, and DH wanted to run an errand. What should have been 15 minutes took nearly an hour, so not as much got done as I hoped. I did get a couple of hot-spots cleared (again), and some minor organizing done.
Today: My friend and I are going to the Fair! I'm really excited. By tonight I'll be too cold, too hot, too tired, probably too bloated ... (what a coincidence that it's "world food day"!) and we'll enjoy every minute! LOL!

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sky gold over the trees, fading into clear blue ... a perfect fall day. It will be low 70s, mostly sunny, and windy. Yesterday morning we got lovely rain; the outside things are beginning to show signs of winter. It will soon (too early this year) be time to move the containers inside.
Yesterday: I did better last night, at least I got laundry done. And, I did manage to clean a few areas, so every little bit counts.
Today: Tonight I have a quick errand to run, and then will get organized for Saturday. Hopefully I will get sewing done too.
Kitten: She's napping somewhere; but soon she will come out of hiding and leap at me when I walk by - her favorite "trick"! LOL!

At least they're not saying any more 90s, and back to "seasonable" by the end of the week. I didn't water yesterday, so will do that as soon as I get home tonight.
Yesterday: I had a pretty busy day. I did a major grocery shopping (which I'd been putting off quite awhile!), a lot of cleaning, a bit of sewing, some baking, a bit of laundry, and even some (on line) Chritmas shopping. There are always things I didn't get done of course, but it was better than "usual" for me. :)
Today: Counting today, 7 more Mondays to work. Wow, that really seems close now! :) Tonight, as I said, will water; finish putting away the last of the laundry (towels), and hopefully get to some sewing. I may have to tackle a cleaning job, but have to wait and see how that works out.
Kitten: She jumps like a kangaroo; she loves to drink water from a running faucet; she thinks feet were merely created for her amusement. On the rare occasions she consents to be held and petted, she purrs like a freight train! :)
Sewing: Still plugging away on the one quilt; may have to work on another simple project just to break the monotony so I will get back to the quilt!
Reading: Still reading Nora Roberts. I don't think I have any errands that have to be run at lunch time, so maybe I can read then. :)

Good Morning! Sunday October 10, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Today will be in the low 80s and sunny, just like yesterday. Still dry, but absolutely gorgeous none the less. I will try to remember to water today!
Yesterday: a totally lovely day; the weather was perfect, warm without being miserably hot. I went to "Mum Fest" with my son and his family. We had a delightful time, roaming around seeing all the vendors (I bought a Christmas present), and eating expensive junk food. We went to a Christian rock concert ("Above the Golden State", "Sidewalk Prophets", and "Kutlass"). I thoroughly enjoyed both the music (very loud!) and sitting in the sun relaxing. We ate rotissierie chicken at son's house; got home just before midnight.
Today: I have cleaning chores to catch up. Jimmy is planning to go to the coast with his son ... so I get a day to myself to open doors and make dust fly! LOL!
Kitten: She's calming down some. I think. But she has "freak-outs", and anything in her path is in danger! LOL!
Sewing: I'm still working on DGS's quilt. It's taken way too long, and I have many more projects qued up. I really have to get myself better organized. I guess it would help if I didn't have so many "play days"! LOL!
Reading: I'm trying to read a new (to me) Nora Roberts book; but have had a hard time finding time when I don't fall asleep!
Note: I'm experimenting with a new "format" ... feedback please! :)

Good Morning! Saturday October 9, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's almost a mild summer day ... low 80s and sunny. We're going to spend the day with our son & family to go to "Mum Fest" (and hopefully, actually buy some mums this year! LOL!) and celebrate his birthday. This iwll be just a wonderful day for an outdoor festival. I hope they have some great items at the craft show ... I'm in serious "Christmas shopping" mode! LOL!
Last night we had an errand to run that took a big chunk of the evening (and also my "ambition"! LOL!), so very little got done. I got a few "hot-spots" straightened. This morning I still have to get trash bagged up, and we'll drop that off on our way out of town.
Tomorrow I'll play "catch up". At least, I hope so! :)

Good Morning! Friday October 8, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun's not quite up, but the sky is glowing gold and mauve and blue. It's going to be upper 70s and sunny ... the kind of day that makes you just hate having to be inside! LOL! I don't know when it'll rain next, which I'm sure there are areas glad of (still having flood water from last week's deluge). Last night I did get most of my gardens watered well; tonight I'll try to get the soaker hoses out to the things farther away from the house.
I also got laundry mostly caught up, and a tiny bit of cleaning done. And a tiny bit of sewing. Well, every little bit helps I guess. :) Tonight I have some things I need to do before the weekend; maybe I'll fit some more "chores" in too. Or maybe not. :)

Good Morning! Thursday October 7, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun is not quite up yet, and the sky above the tree line is beautiful, all orange and red and yellow and purple. Today will be sunny and warm again, around 80 ... which is very nice. It's still on the dry side, so tonight I will probably need to water again. I still think they might come in earlier this year; but then again, we could end up with a lovely long fall. (wishful thinking? LOL!).
Last night I didn't find the energy I was hoping for; but I did stop for groceries on the way home, and I got a load of laundry done. Oh, and I worked on some paperwork. That stuff is like laundry, it just never ends!
Tonight is a good TV night again. I'm hoping to get the rest of the laundry caught up, and get some sewing done. I'm ready to start a new project, but need to finish the one (several?) I already have going! :)

Good Morning! Wednesday October 6, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Again, the sun is just peeping over the trees. It won't be many more mornings before it will no longer be up by this time. DST will soon come to an end, but even then, mornings will be getting darker. I don't mind this year ... I'll soon be seeing fewer of them (at least this early)! LOL! Today will be another perfect fall day: right around 70, mostly sunny, a little windy.
Last night I didn't get a lot of cleaning done, but I did get a lot of important paperwork taken care of. Since it needed to be done, that counts too! And, I got to sleep a bit earlier. Tonight, hopefully, I'll be able to get something more productive done ... I have several things I need to get checked off my "to do" list before the weekend; and tonight isn't very good for TV (for me). Sad, huh. What can I say, I like my shows! :)

Good Morning! Tuesday October 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun is just coming over the tree tops way in back, and the sunrise is gorgeous this morning. Today will be upper 60s, maybe even low 70s, partly cloudy but mostly sunny. I hate to admit it after last week's deluge ... but I will soon have to water the gardens again. It's hard to guess with the strange weather we've had this year; but I suspect the outside plants may have to come inside a bit earlier this year.
I ended up having to run an errand after work ... and Wal-Mart was insane!! ... so much later getting home than I would have liked. And of course I got very little done. Eventually some energy or enthusiasm or something will kick in and I'll get the things done around here that I want done. I hope! LOL!

Good Morning! Monday October 4, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still a bit gray out, and it's supposed to be mostly cloudy today. We didn't end up getting any rain yesterday (at least, not in my area); only a slight chance of it today. It's turned cool .. reall fall weather ... ony mid 60s today! This might even be a day to open the doors and turn the furnace on (to burn off the dust that accumulates over the summer). Then when the nights start getting too chilly, we'll be ready for heat.
Yesterday ended up taking longer than we hoped; but in the end, we were finally successful in our mission. :) DH now has a nice new suit; and I even got a tiny bit of Christmas shopping done. We were all really tired by last night though ... so of course, other than one quick load of laundry, nothing got done.
Tonight I will need to get busy for sure. The shows I like to watch on Monday don't start until 8:00; and there are lots of commercials ... so I should get busy! :)

Good Morning! Sunday October 3, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's a bit overcast, and nice and cool outside. At one time the forecast was for rain to come in by evening; later it changed, but I didn't hear an updated one last night. So ... it might rain some time today! LOL! It'll probably be low 70s (possibly even a bit cooler - lovely!).
Yesterday was a fantastic day. My son & his family treated me to a musical show (Pandemonium), Chinese dinner (at the mall), and Cirque de la Symphonie (symphony plus acrobatic performances). It was a gloriously beautiful day, and I enjoyed every bit of it!
Today won't be quite so exciting! LOL! We're dragging DH shopping. He has to have a suit for the upcoming family wedding. He is not looking forward to this expedition. Neither am I! LOL!
If it doesn't take too long, tonight I'll catch up laundry, and hopefully at least start on what should have been this week's cleaning project. Or, maybe I'll just sew! :)

Good Morning! Saturday October 2, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's gloriously bright and clear out; today will be a perfect crisp fall day, low 70s and mostly sunny. I'm not sure if all the rain has moved out of the rest of the state or not; I do know there are areas east and northeast of me that got serious flooding. I pray for those affected, and I praise God for this perfect day!
Last night we went out to eat. Jimmy has gotten "stuck" on a particular restaurant. Not because it's all that great (though it is good); but because they have an old farm instrument of some kind on a wall, and it's making him crazy trying to find out what it is! LOL! So far, no one knows. After that I returned an item, and then we came on home. My phone line is cleared up ... Yay! I did sew a little, did a bit of decluttering and some little organizing (ok, Very little!), and mostly watched TV.
Today I'm getting a treat, my son and his family are coming to take me with them for a day in Raleigh. We're going to a show, to "the mall" (didn't say which one, but I can guess), and maybe even to a symphony. Wow!! I got on up (ok, not as early as a work day!!) and have done a few of the things I needed to get done already (dishes, bagged trash, mopped kitchen). Soon I will go get myself presentable. I'm so excited! :)
