Good Morning! Tuesday November 30, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's overcast, but not "heavy" (not dark and gloomy). It'll be mostly cloudy today but with very small chances of showers. However, it'll be weirdly warm, nearly 70. Perhaps a last gasp of fall, before temps plunge the rest of the week.
Yesterday: While I didn't get as much done as I hoped (do I ever?), we got a lot done. We probably would have gotten even more done if we hadn't been side tracked by a brief shopping excursion. Oops. And of course, my morning got off to a slow start waiting for the gas to be delivered!
Today: I have a huge list of things to accomplish today. I have to get the house at least neat if not completely decorated, get some cleaning done, get laundry caught up, and pack for a 5 day trip. Woo Hoo! :)

Today is "Computer Security Day" ... "Saint Andrew's Day" ... "Stay Home Because You're Well Day" ... "Independence Day (Barbados)".

Quotes of the Day:
"Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."

-- Rita Rudner

Good Morning! Monday November 29, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. I suspect we need rain, doesn't seem like we've gotten much for a long time; but today is bright and clear so far. It is supposed to be partly sunny, and upper 50s or maybe even low 60s. I hope for the warmer end, to get the rest of the outside decorations up today.
Yesterday: I got a lot done, but fizzled. I ran out of gas - figuratively and literally! LOL! Once the hands get cold, it's hard to do much, but I managed for awhile. Then I just wrapped up and watched a Christmas movie! :)
Today: I have several errands to run in town, and then that outside stuff this afternoon. Tonight I will work more on inside decorating. I also still have sewing to finish; I did some yesterday, but had to stop last night. Some day I'm going to manage to be organzied! LOL!

Good Morning! Sunday November 28, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear; but will be chilly again, low 50s. This is (more or less) what it's *supposed* to be like in late November. I'm not crazy about cold, of course; but we need all the seasons.
Yesterday: I got a busy start to the day, and got a lot of things done. By mid afternoon "the kids" got here, and we got the big tree assembled and lit (and someday I'm going to splurge on a big pre-lit!! LOL!). Everyone worked on decorating it - until we ran out of hooks, and the grands got bored! :) When it got dark, we went to see the lights. It wa nice and cold, just like it should be, and we rode the little "train" through the light park; and then went in the candy store. It was a lovely afternoon and evening!
Today: I plan to finish up several projects and work on sewing, even though I've gotten a very late start. I sure slept well! LOL! I hope to get most of the inside decorating finished, and get a lot done on the sewing I had hoped to finish by today.

Good Morning! Saturday November 27, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Yesterday's clouds and rain have moved on, and today will be clear and bright. It's also a lot colder ... low 50s ... which is much more "seasonable". I'm trying telling myself that the reason I'm dragging out Christmas decorating is because it's been so warm. :)
Yesterday: Our shopping trip was successful in that we got what we wanted, and found a lot more good bargains. Then we got a little bit more tweaking and decluttering done here; though we were so tired, we had to stop early. Still, several of the trees are "tweaked" and decorated; more of the outside stuff is placed and lit; most of the nutcracker collection has found homes; and there is a blank spot for the big tree and working space nearby.
Today: When family gets here ... not sure when ... we'll put up and decorate the "big" tree. So far I've gotten dishes done, bathroom cleaned, and laundry started. In a few minutes I'll take trash by the dump and go to the grocery store (was too tired yesterday! LOL!). It's going to be another busy day, and I'm looking forward to it! :)

Good Morning! Friday November 26, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning, though still quite early. Today will be a strange mix of weather. Once the sun comes up, it will be mostly cloudy and possibly damp at times. The early part of the day will be unseasonably warm, maybe even low 70s; but by afternoon when a front comes through it might get very cool.
Yesterday: Being a holiday, I was lazy. I did get some cleaning, laundry, and a bit of decorating done. I also worked on gift wrapping and sewing. We went out to eat, but not the "fancy" place we'd originally planned. I watched the Macy's parade, and 2 Christmas movies! :)
Today: A "last-minute" decision was made to do the shopping scene today. We will be done with that very early, and try to finish the outside decorating (not much left) before the front passes and it gets too cold to work outside. Then we'll get a lot of the inside work done ... it's mostly down to the "fun stuff" now, getting out collections.

Good Morning! Thursday, November 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's actually gray out, but not "dark"; it'll be cooler, only around 60, and mostly cloudy with not much chance of anything more than a few sprinkles.
Yesterday: Since today (and tomorrow) are holidays, yesterday was my last day at work, but I'm not "officially" retired until after tomorrow. It feels strange ... well, actually, nothing feels any different. LOL! I had an errand to run after work; and then DH decided he was tired of left-over turkey, so we went out for a chicken sandwich. I got a little bit more done on my sewing, and that's about all.
Today: My original plan was to watch a parade, maybe a movie, do some decorating, and go out to dinner. I have a feeling that plan will change. I think I may have to cook dinner, though it certainly won't be a turkey feast. I'll still get to watch the special things ... I've already got the parade (pre-coverage) tuned in. Whatever we do, it will be a relaxing day.
It is Thanksgiving Day in the US, and I am ever so thankful for my family, my friends, and this wonderful country I am so priviledged to live in. I pray for health, happiness, and safe travel for all of my readers and their loved ones!

Good Morning! Wednesday November 24, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The expected cool-down is starting, only going to the low 60s. But it will be sunny, a little breezy, and still a gorgeous fall day. We didn't get much rain yesterday, but in a day or two we have another chance.
Yesterday: Shortly after I got home from work we had a meeting with an insurance lady. That took quite a bit of time (going through all the government required paperwork for something that we might not even get. Frustrating!). That pretty much took my steam away; but it was lovely to get home and see (most of) my lights working - I have elves!! LOL! I did get some sewing done though, while watching Dancing ... and of course I'm happy with the results! :)
Today: This is my last day at work. It feels like just any other day; but it's the start of the Thanksgiving break also. We'll have a big meal at work (boy do we have some good cooks!), so not sure how much will get done. Hopefully by tonight I'll at least get more sewing done, and start on wrapping. :)

Good Morning! Tuesday November 23, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. The unseasonably warm is still hangining in, with a high today in the low 70s. It's gray out, will be mostly cloudy and maybe some sprinkles. A good rain would be nice; I think we have a chance of that by the end of the week.
Yesterday: I had to run errands after work, and got home late; and of course got almost nothing done here. But I did watch Dancing .. and I think I may have to give up my "usual" (which I can catch on rerun) to see the Dance finale. I still want Jennifer to win; and I wouldn't be totally unhappy if Kyle won. 'Nuff said. LOL! I also watched the new show, "Skating With The Stars". Not sure about that one yet, but might be ok.
Today: After work, if nothing comes up I need to do, I'm hoping to at least wrap some gifts and sew! :)

Good Morning! Monday November 22, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's very foggy out ... and the "dusk-to-dawn" lights that are still on look strange through the whiteness of nothingness! LOL! But, the lovely fall weather is hanging on, with today going to low 70s and sunshine quickly burning off the fog.
Yesterday: With help, I got very busy; and most of the outside stuff is done! Every year I change things a bit ... and as usual, I find I don't have enough extension cords. :( I also got my new washer and dryer ... very late, but still had time to get 2 loads of laundry done.
Today: It's back to work for one last (short) week of full time employment. It's a little scary, but mostly a relief! LOL! I have a lot of things I really really need to get done by next weekend, so I will have to get busy in the evenings. Also, tonight is the Dancing finale. I won't watch the results show tomorrow; but if that little twerp wins, I won't be watching any more anyway. Also tonight the Skating show starts ... what a dilemma ... same time as Hawaii 5-0! LOL!

Good Morning! Sunday November 21, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. We're still in this "warm" spell; today will be low to mid 60s, and mostly sunny. Possibly by the end of the week we'll exchange the warm weather for more seasonable cool ... but being this nice so late into November is a gift, meant to be enjoyed!
Yesterday: By the end of the day, I actually did everything I had on my list. I was awfully lazy, and should have done a lot more. But all progress is forward, so I'll just keep working on things 'til I get them done. I've managed to not clutter up the spaces already cleaned, so brought a few more boxes down to place decorations. We even managed a quick ride to see the lights, and a stop in the candy store. (yes, Sam, I got what you asked for! LOL!). Plus, I got started on 2 quick sewing projects.
Today: This will be an interesting day to say the least! LOL! I have new appliances being delivered later this afternoon, so I have a little bit of cleaning to do first. Meantime, I'm working on emptying the boxes I brought down, and starting on wrapping some gifts. This afternoon when I have help we'll try to get a lot more of the outside stuff done.

Good Morning! Saturday November 20, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Today will be mid 60s, sunny and a little breezy. It's a gorgeous fall day, and will be perfect weather for the Raleigh Christmas parade! One of these years I'm actually going to get up early enough to drive to town, find a place to park, and watch the parade "live" like we did as children. Not this year.
Yesterday: It was a very busy and very good day. I got a lot of cleaning and decluttering done in the house, and a friend and I together cooked a Huge meal. We had turkey (LOVE the new roaster! LOL!), lots of veggie dishes ... and we all ate so much, we didn't even have room for pie. We were also too full and tired to go to see the lights as originally planned.
Today: I've already cleaned up most of the dishes from last night (just a few things had to soak a bit). I am going to watch the parade on TV; finish a few chores (including taking trash to the dump), work on the decorating some more. Tonight I think our friends will come back over for the pie and then go see the lights! :)

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. We didn't get a lot of rain yesterday (some got more than others, as usual); but it's gone now.
Today will be mid 60s, sunny and breezy. We're back to lovely fall days!
Yesterday: After work I drove to DS's house ... Yay me, 2 hours in the dark and didn't get lost at all ... not even a "wrong" lane! LOL!
Today: The morning started off strangely ... I just don't see how 4 people can sleep through 3 obnoxiously loud alarms for an hour! LOL! But, everyone got off
to work and school on time; now the house is quiet except for the dog whining at the back door (she stays in the yard in the day time). Eventually DH will get up,
and we'll head back home. This afternoon I hope to start bringing the Christmas trees downstairs and deciding where they're going to be. Oh, the excitement!! :)

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. The clouds are starting to move in, and the morning sky has streaks of pale pink and blue under heavier clouds. It will be upper 60s today and rain likely by afternoon. We need rain, so it's welcome; probably won't be "enough".
Yesterday: I skipped the errands after work so I could get some things done at home. I got a bit of straightening, organizing, and laundry done. I had a lovely phone conversation with my brother - for such as that I would gladly skip all the cleaning! :)
Today: After work today I will drive down (about 2 hours) to DS's home. I hope it's not raining, or at least not too hard. I'm looking forward to seeing DS, DIL, and my 2 grands, even for just one evening. :)

Good Morning! Monday November 15, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. The sky over the woods (waaaay back behind my house) is just turning pink. It's clear now, but clouds will start to roll in by afternoon; but it'll be low 70s, so still a nice day.
Yesterday: We did go to the Flea Market as planned. We took one small "side trip" when we discovered another craft show ... an excellent idea, as I got some terrific and unusual Christmas gifts! We also found what we were looking for at the Flea Market, and didn't stay too long. After an afternoon of shopping (and constantly feeding my friend's 13 y/o son! LOL!), we came back here to chill a bit ... Maggie provided entertainment. :)
Today: It's back to work again. I dread seeing how much has piled up on my desk ... but eventually someone else will have to help deal with it! LOL! I only work today and tomorrow ... lovely to have so much accumulated vacation! Tonight I will once again try to catch up the bits and pieces of cleaning I've missed, before Dancing comes on! :)

Good Morning! Sunday November 14, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. We'll have another in a string of perfect fall days. This one will be a bit warmer, upper 60s or maybe even low 70s. It might get partly cloudy later; for now, it's clear and bright!
Yesterday: We had a very productive day. I got a few things done around the house, and then my friend came over later. With a LOT of help, the big (really, really big) outdoor tree is up and quite secure (unlike last year when it got crooked! LOL!); we got a good start on some of the other outdoor things, and figured out what we'll do for the rest. We did have to come up with an alternate plan for one area ... the "fake arch" we used got squashed by a fallen tree, and I can't get anyone to come cut up and remove the tree. Oh well, it's going to look great anyway. :) Last night I took my friend back home, and then took my niece back to her apartment. I even drove myself home (a major accomplishment! LOL!) without getting lost, or taking any unplanned detours because I got in the wrong lane!
Today: I hope to finish up a few more cleaning chores; and then we're going to the Flea Market. Hopefully we'll find what we're looking for quickly. Tonight I have a quickie sewing project I want to get started on, and, then work on the quilt some more. More decorating will wait until my next series of vacations days! :)

Good Morning! Saturday November 13, 2010

Good morning! It is a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright, and will be sunny and upper 60s today. This will be another wonderful fall day, and perfect for our outdoor plans.
Yesterday: The day turned into a delightful surprise. We went to pick up my niece, and my sister had decided to come along. We went to brunch at the Farmer's Market and then strolled around, enjoying the colorful market (and came home with some yummy things); then we went shopping at a World Market (found more Christmas), and ... oh Joy!! .. went to a Joann's. I have no fabric shops near me, this was wonderful! LOL! Then, after an all day shopping trip, my sister treated me to my first ever pedicure. Aaaahhhhhhhh!!! (and my toes are so pretty now! LOL!). Then we (GF, niece, and I) made a quick grocery stop and came back here. We had dip and roast chicken and various left overs, and sat up late watching movies (I took my friend home after "Pretty Woman"). It was a fun day!
Today: We're getting a slow start, but getting a few things done this morning. In a little while my friend will come here (she has a ride this morning), and the 3 of us will go eat breakfast. Then we'll get started on those outside decorations! We sure have a gorgeous day for it, so hope we get a lot done. Later this evening I'll take my niece back home.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. We really are having the gorgeous fall weather I've been waiting for! Today will be mid 60s again, bright and sunny. No rain ... or "too" cool ... for nearly a week.
Yesterday: It was a perfectly beautiful day, nice to be out in. Which is good, since we spent way too long being "out"! LOL! I did get a few cleaning chores done at home, and a very important business call taken care of. (or should that be "of which I have taken care"?). We had a shopping list of just a few specific items ... many hours later, after 5 stores and 2 meal stops, we had all but one item! We still came back here and got a few more details done before I took my friend home.
Today: I am going to get my niece, and the 3 (including GF, whom I could not leave out after all the help she gives me!!!) of us are going to the Farmer's Market. This is a wonderful day for that, and hopefully it will still be teeming with lovely fresh fruit and veggies we can load up with (with which we can load up?). If we get home before too late in the afternoon, we will start getting the outside decorations out of the barn to work on tomorrow. Good Morning! Thursday November 11, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and will be mid 60s today. The weather has been so up and down this fall (all year really), I don't remember what's "normal" any more. But it seems to me this is fairly average fall weather; maybe a bit warmer than usual for nearly mid November. Whatever, it's a wonderful fall day, and I will try to be out in it some today.
Yesterday: We got a lot accomplished. My friend's dad came over and finished a detail on the ceiling fan in the den; and he replaced glass in the barn window (that's been broken for 10 years! LOL!). Her son did the painting project for us. We moved and shifted and re-arranged things. I did some more decluttering (no more "junk" in the guest room!), and she did some major plant pruning and watering. All in all, we got a lot done, and by tomorrow I'll be ready to start putting trees in place (in case I have to change my plans - before I have anything else that might have to be rearranged!)
Today: I'm hoping to catch up a few cleaning chores I didn't finish yesterday. Later this afternoon we're going on a shopping excursion (yeah, I know, it's "what we do"! LOL!). I have more surfaces than I previously had ... I want to find more runners or covers of some type. Or maybe it's just an excuse to go Christmas shopping! :)

Good Morning! Wednesday November 10, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and will be upper 60s today. We have a "cooler air mass" coming down from the north .. not sure if that means windy or not. I hope not, as I have some painting to do; but a lovely fall day just the same!
Yesterday: I was very busy at work. I was trying to tie up loose ends, but only had 2 days this week to do it. I had to pick up an order at Wal-Mart, so went on and did a bit of grocery shopping while I was there. I didn't get much done last night (ok, I admit, I didn't really try very hard! LOL!)
Today: I hope to make up for the evenings, and have a very busy day planned. I have to finish clearing clutter so I have clean areas to start decorating; and "ordinary" cleaning to do as well. And the paint project! :)

Good Morning! Tuesday November 9, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! With DST over, my morning backyard is flooded with light. It'll be low 70s today, a bit above "normal" but a lovely day just the same!
Yesterday: As usual, on work days, I fizzle. I did get a few errands done; and I got one "major" chore accomplished at home. After that, I enjoyed watching Dancing. I'm still a Jennifer fan (though Brandy is certainly giving her a close call; and Kyle is adorable! LOL!).
Today: This is my last work day this week. I hope tonight to finish up laundry (towels still waiting to be folded - I seem to put that off!), and at least clear all the clutter off the dining room table. Any more than that depends entirely on getting a fresh burst of energy! :)

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, though there is frost on the ground in the shaded areas. I can hear geese flying overhead, out of my line of sight. Today will be mid 60s, a wonderful perfect fall day.
Yesterday: I was very busy, though (as usual) I didn't get to everything on my list. However, I got a lot done, a few things that weren't on my list even. I ran out of steam before I quite finished decluttering from trying to get things organized; but I'll finish before the week is out anyway.
Today: It's back to work, and a quick run to Wal-Mart after work (of all things, I need batteries! LOL!). Tonight I will try to finish putting away clean laundry, but doubt I will get more than that done. :)

Good Morning! Sunday November 7, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and looks like it will be a lovely fall day. It will be mid to upper 50s and sunny ... not a bad day; if I'm not too lazy, maybe I will plant some tulip bulbs, or at least prune a few shrubs.
Yesterday: It was a very productive day, although mostly because I had so much help. That's OK, that helps too and I'm very grateful for it! My friend and I went into town to check out "Ladies Day" at a local church. They had a lot of vendors there ... jewelry, Tupperware, candles, Pampered Chef. I got one more Christmas present, and a lot of ideas! Later, we got one more piece of furniture moved (a fairly small, easy one; but still), and I also got my dishes collection better organized. Her father came over and put up a ceiling fan in the den. YAY! Unfortunately, the 3rd fan turned out to be broken; maybe I'll find another one later. It was a cold, gray, wet day, so I made a big pot of soup. Yummy!
Today: I have a nice quiet day to myself. I plan (and you know how often my plans get side-tracked! LOL!) to do some cleaning in the kitchen; bring down the boxes with table runners and start getting the first layers in place; and paint a craft project for outside decorating. Hopefully I will also get laundry completely caught up, and do some routine cleaning. ")

Good Morning! Saturday November 6, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's fairly bright out, but still quite cloudy. It's supposed to clear up, but become cloudy again and possible sprinkles or showers by this afternoon. It will be a mild mid-50s today. My original "plan" had been to start on the outside things today, but it's not a good day for that.
Yesterday: I managed to be fairly productive despite unexpected interruptions. All of the fall and "usual" decorations are packed (except a few things that don't go in boxes, such as lamps). I have some things to take upstairs still, but at least it's organized. I managed to get to the grocery store, and got laundry started.
Today: I expect will be very busy. My friend will be helping, and we have several "projects" to get done, such as a little bit more furniture moving, some (craft) painting, and a few outdoor things if the weather lets us. Her dad is coming over later to help install the other 2 ceiling fans ... and I will be making a big pot of soup! :)

Good Morning! Friday November 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast today is for "variably" cloudy and possible sprinkles; so far it's kind of "milky-clear" ... no visible cloudiness, but not quite bright either. It'll be upper 50s, a bit warmer than yesterday.
Yesterday: The day turned out to be productive in unexpected ways. I didn't get everything done on my list (I never do); but I got a few things done ahead of schedule. Also, my friend came over - her cousin brought her. And while they were here, they put my new desk chair together (ahhhhh ... SO comfortable, and the rollers and swivel work!). Also, he put up the new ceiling fan in the kitchen. For the first time in months we have light in the kitchen!! Wow!! LOL
Today: I hope to finish packing away decorations and finish laundry. I may also find time to go to the grocery store. DH is getting ready to go stay with 2 of the grands for a week (our DIL has to go to CA to be with her mom who is having heart surgery - prayers welcom!). Once I get him off, I'll get myself pulled together and see what I can do with the rest of the day. :)

Good Morning! Thursday November 4, 2010

Good morning! It is a wonderful morning. It's starting out foggy; but the fog will fade into cloudy. Today will be mid 50s, gray and rainy. While I have said many times how much I love fall, this is also a "typical" fall day. It would be a good day to curl up with a book if I didn't have so many things to do. :)
Yesterday: I managed to get a bit more decluttering done. Are you wondering why I'm always "decluttering" and never done? LOL! So am I. Things always get just put down ... then I have to go back and put them in their proper homes. And some of it ... I don't know, I think perhaps poltergeist sneak in at night? LOL!
Today: It's another vacation day (yes, I had a really lot saved up! I still have 7 more to go before Thanksgiving). I have a lot of things planned, and really hope I don't give in the the "rainy-day syndrome" and take a nap. Today is the beginning of my pre-Christmas decorating prep work. Good Morning! Wednesday November 3, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. So far it's still very dark; today will be "raw and damp". The clouds may clear a bit during the morning, but will be back by afternoon. It'll be in the mid to upper 50s, and a fairly good chance of light rain by late afternoon.
Yesterday: I made a quick grocery run on the way home. Last night I didn't do much; I didn't even get any decluttering done. I guess I just felt lazy. Knowing I have time off later in the week tends to make me less enthusiastic about doing chores after a day at the office. :) (that's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL!)
Today: There are still chores to do, laundry to catch up, bills to pay ... all of which will probably be done tomorrow. Perhaps I'll wrap some Christmas presents tonight ... that actually sounds like more fun! :)

Good Morning! Tuesday November 2, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's just starting to turn faintly pink, barely over the treetops. It will be a mixture of sunny and cloudy; but also a cool upper 50s and breezy. I believe there may be rain later in the week, but not today. It will still be a nice fall day.
Yesterday: It was not as bad a day at work as I was afraid of. The reports got done, and work went on as usual. DH had driven me to work (so he could go get a battery for the other car); when he picked me up we went by Wally World for some half price candy (to put back for Christmas). We went to Bo-Jangles, and I got home in time to watch Dancing. Yah Jennifer, she's "back"! :) I also did a bit of decluttering (during commercials of course).
Today: I think my favorite shows tonight might be reruns (already? really?), so perhaps I'll watch the Dancing results show. In a few weeks another new show starts that I'm real excited about ... Skating With The Stars! Meantime, tonight, I'll do some more decluttering, perhaps work on some laundry.

Good Morning! Monday November 1, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! The sky is just starting to turn pink and yellow. The sun is reflecting off a few stray clouds, and it's really quite pretty. Today will be cool, low 60s, and partly cloudy. It's still what I call a nice fall day. :)
Yesterday: I did not (as usual) get everything done I hoped, but a lot of errands got taken care of; more Christmas shopping got done; and the toilet is *almost* fixed! LOL! It was a fairly "easy" day, so I'm not over-tired to start the week. And really, I only have 4 more Mondays before the new schedule begins.
Today: Work will probably be crazy today. End-of-month reports are due, and I will need to teach someone to do the ones I've done for years now. They're not hard ... just one more thing to remember! :)

Today is "All Saints' Day (Catholic)" ... "All Hallows Day" ... "National Authors' Day" ... "National Cook For Your Pets Day" ... "National Family Literacy Day" ... "Independence Day (Antigua)" ... "Independence Day (Barbuda)" ... "Liberty Day (Virgin Islands)" ... "Revolution Day (Algeria)".

Qoutes of the Day:
