Good morning! It's a beautiful morning, and is going to be a beautiful near-perfect day. It's bright and clear, will go to mid to upper 70s, just a slight breeze. This is NC spring at it's best .. and rarest! LOL!
Yesterday: It was an extraordinarily busy day! All the "usual" household stuff got done, including 2 loads of laundry, lots of dishes, and so on. I spent a bit of time working on cleaning out a long-neglected room; and we spent many hours weeding the garden! The first things planted are growing gloriously; by the end of today, much more will be planted.
Today: I have to run a few quick errands after taking DH to dialysis, and then it's back to the garden. I'm even hiring a young helper today, so we can get as much as possible done while we have such lovely weather!

Good Morning! Friday April 29, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. After all the stormy weather of the past few days, the sun is out and the clouds have moved on. Today will be in the upper 70s, mostly clear, and breezy. This should be a lovely day for gardening.
Yesterday: As always, a dialysis and work day precludes getting a lot done. A few quick errands after work were all. Since finishing the last project, I simply enjoyed TV last night (happy that Scotty made it through again).
Today: I have a lot to try to do, and will really have to push myself. I admit ... I've been up for hours. Of course I watched The Wedding! LOL! (those of you who've known me that long will remember I've been an "anglophile" for years!) But now, on with the day. There's a lot of gardening to get caught up on, as well as the "usual" chores and decluttering. I hope I can stay awake! LOL!
Today is "National Arbor Day" ... "National Dream Hotline" ... "National Hairball Awareness Day" ... "Anniversary - Zipper Patent" ... "Cheng Cheng Kung Landing Day (Taiwan)" ... "Showa Day (Japan)".

Good Morning! Thursday April 28, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's cloudy and windy with storms again heading our way, but at least they seem to have diminished a bit. It won't be quite as warm as yesterday with highs around 80; and it may begin to clear by afternoon. Many prayers go out to those hit by this round of storms.
Yesterday: It turned out to be a busy day, and I got a lot accomplished. We had an afternoon meeting with the kidney center "team", with the result being a new surgical appointment will be set. This is excellent news, as it means many things will be much easier, as well as DH will feel better (eventually! LOL!). And, I finished my project!! It's in the dryer now (must be sure it's completely machine washable you know!) :) And of course I got to see Scotty sing, not once but twice. I do like that young man, I hope he wins.
Also, I am quite happy to share with my readers that my niece had a baby boy yesterday afternoon!! A new baby in the family, what joy!!
Today: It's a dialysis/work day, so of course a bit of a busy morning. As well as all the "usual" routine, I'm finishing up the washing of the blanket so I can take pictures; and then proceed to the next project. Tonight, however, I think I'll probably do ... um ... nothing! LOL!
Today is "Poem in Your Pocket Day" ... "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" ... "Workers Memorial Day" ... "National Day of Mourning (Canada)".
Quotes of the Day:
"It is a profitable thing, if one is wise, to seem foolish."

Good Morning! Wednesday April 27, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Last night's rain has continued into today, but other than a few scattered showers, it will possibly clear a bit by the afternoon. Of course, then the chances start over. It will be warm, upper 80s, and humid. It's the "growing season", and gardens need the rain. It would've been nice to actually have all the garden planted before the rain! LOL!
Yesterday: On a dialysis and work day I never manage to get a lot done, but it wasn't bad either. After work we went to pick up some refills and a few groceries, then home. I did get more sewing done, so I really have high hopes of finishing soon.
Today: I have a list of things to get done, and really hope the rainy weather doesn't keep me from doing them. So far I've done ok, and have things moving along as they should. We have a meeting with doctors and nurses this afternoon, so I'm trying to fit what I can in around that timing. With the rainy forecast, no gardening will get done, so I have to keep working on decluttering and sewing. :)
Today is "Administrative Professionals Day" ... "Babe Ruth Day" ... "Matanzas Mule Day" ... "Freedom Day (South Africa)" ... "Independence Day (Sierra Leone)" ... "Independence Day (Togo)".

Good Morning! Tuesday April 26, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Even though the forecast is for cloudy, at the moment it's mostly sunny. It'll go to low 80s today, and probably afternoon showers. Actually, the forecast is for "hot or miss" storms! LOL!
Yesterday: In the morning, I finally solved a problem, and got some significant progress on my sewing project. DH had an afternoon appointment in Durham, this time with a new cardiologist. That went very well. He's doing well, and apparently we're (attempting at least) doing all the right things. :) It was late by the time we got home, barely had time to fix some supper before Dancing! :)
Today: It's a dialysis/work day, so I'm not planning to get a lot done, except work on the sewing project while watching TV.

Good Morning! Monday April 25, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's bright and clear, and will be mostly sunny today. It'll go up to the upper 80s, maybe even teasing 90, and just a touch breezy. It's still April, but feeling more like summer!
Yesterday: We spent the afternoon visiting with son, daughter-in-law, and 2 of the grands. We didn't get away from home as early as we hoped, but we still had a nice long visit. They cooked a wonderful meal (lots of yummy things that we probably shouldn't be eating but did anyway! LOL!), and it was just calm and relaxing. The crazy puppy was either outside (and has finally been stifled in her attempts to escape) or in her kennel. so there were no "incidents". The traffic both directions wasn't too awful; so all in all in was a very good day.
Today: Since the house got cleaned last week, today will be an "easy" day ... other than having to drive to Durham of course. DH has a doctor appointment, but not until the afternoon; and there's at least the possibility of getting out early enough to miss evening traffic too. Tonight is Dancing, and also back to working on the sewing. I think I have figured out a minor problem that was a "stumbling block", so hope to finish soon!

Good Morning! Sunday April 24, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Yesterday's clouds have finally started clearing, and we'll be back in the mid 80s again. Although there are a few lingering clouds this morning, the sun is peeping out a lot!
Yesterday: It was not as busy a day as I had hoped, because it kept raining, or at least drizzling. While DH was at dialysis I got a few errands run, and a little bit of planting done. The *big* accomplishment is to get a pump running in the pond again. Yay! The fish are cheering! LOL!
Today: We're going to visit DS and family for the day. And of course I'm running late. :)
Today is "Easter Sunday (Christian)" ... "Library of Congress Day" ... "Mother, Father Deaf Day" ... "National Pet Parent's Day" ... "Orthodox Easter Sunday / Pascha (Orthodox)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity."
-- Frank Leahy
"I define comfort as self-acceptance. When we finally learn that self-care begins and ends with ourselves, we no longer demand sustenance and happiness from others."

Good Morning! Saturday April 23, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still a bit left over cloudy from yesterday, and there could be morning showers. It's supposed to clear on out, and get to the mid to upper 80s today.
Yesterday: It was a busy day, but very nice. My friend came over and helped clean the porch. It was supposed to be a gardening day ... lots still to get in the ground ... but it poured rain! I did a little bit of cleaning, and was really glad I've gotten to the point where most of the house stays at least neat. :) My DB and DSIL got here in late afternoon for a visit. We rode around the neighborhood a little bit; and then DB cooked some steaks on the grill. They were, as always, superb! I enjoyed every minute of their visit, and just wish it could have been longer and more often.
Today: It's a dialysis day, but no work. I have a few errands to run, and then hopefully it will be dry enough to work in the garden. We have (temporary) use of a plow for the area we'll have rows instead of raised beds. I really hope we get the tomatoes planted today!
Tonight I'll be trying to get things organized for us to go spend the day tomorrow with DS and family.
Today is "Easter Even" ... "National Bulldogs Are Beautiful Day" ... "St. George Feast Day" ... "UN World Book and Copyright Day" ... "Book Day and Lover's Day (Spain)" ... "Children's Day/ National Sovereignty Day (Turkey)".
Quotes of the Day:
"USA Today has come out with a new survey - apparently, three out of every four people make up 75% of the population."
-- David Letterman
"Old age is the most unexpected of things that can happen to a man."
-- Leon Trotsky

-- Sydney Smith

Good Mornng! Friday April 22, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's cool and overcast, but not raining. The forecast is for "light rain and drizzle". The high today will be mid to upper 60s, much cooler than yesterday. But it's still nice spring weather, and the gardens need rain - as long as it's not enough to spoil any planned activities! LOL!
Yesterday: It felt like I rushed around a lot without getting a lot done. I had an early appointment, then took DH to dialysis and went to work. After work we had to stop for groceries, and stop to drop off some donations. By the time we got home it was time to fix dinner. It was time for the results show before I even got a chance to sit down! LOL!
Today: If the weather doesn't get "too bad", I'm hoping for a family visit. I'm really looking forward to it. This morning I've just got a few "routine" things to take care of; and I've got cooking started I'm mostly leaving the day "open", and will try to "go with the flow" (which we all know I'm not very good at! LOL!)
Today is "Chemists Celebrate Earth Day" ... "Earth Day" ... "Good Friday" ... "National Jelly Bean Day" ... "UN International Mother Earth Day" ... "Oklahoma Day (Oklahoma)".
Quotes of the Day:
"What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step. It is always the same step, but you have to take it."
-- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
"Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything."

Good Morning! Thursday April 21, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Although the forecast says starting out cloudy, there is bright sunlight pouring in my window. It won't be as hot as yesterday, only mid 70s. With an afternoon breeze, it should be a wonderful spring day.
Yesterday: It was a really busy day. The temps reached the upper 80s, so it was hot working in the garden; but most of the day was also breezy, which helped. We got a lot of progress made ... another raised bed planted, 2 more ready to go, and another area about a third weeded and ready. Everything outside got a good watering also, which was good since the rain never showed up! :) We also rode into town for a "miniature retail therapy fix" (had to replace a planter sign that the storm sent away - probably to Kansas! LOL!), and hit the grocery store. Last night I managed to stay awake long enough to cheer Scotty (AI) on again! :)
Today: I am rushing this morning! Besides being a dialysis and work day, I have an early hair appointment. Hopefully by tonight I will get some chores done that are overdue now. And hoping the cuts and blisters on my fingers are enough bsetter to get back to my sewing project that is so nearly done! :)
Today is "Kindergarten Day" ... "Holy Thursday" ... "Maundy Thursday" ... "National High Five Day" ... "National Teach Children to Save Day" ... "San Jacinto Day (Tx)" ... "Birthday of Rome (Italy)".

Good Morning! Wednesday April 20, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and sunny, even though the forecast said starting out cloudy. It'll go to nearly 90 today; and will get windier in the afternoon, with possible storms moving in (thankfully, not "severe" storms).
Yesterday: It was a fairly "usual" dialysis/work day. There was of course a lot of talk at work about who had homes or relatives with homes and property damanged Saturday. There was also a lot of talk about all the different ways we can help those who need it! That's comforting. I have my own contacts too. When I picked DH up, I had a chance to talk to a dietician, and she was able to give me a bit more helpful information; she also answered some questions that were really important for me. Yay. Last night was another lazy night, just watching TV.
Today: I have to make up for all my recent laziness! LOL! I've gotten dishes, laundry, breakfast done. In a little while I'll go get my friend, and we'll spend most of the day in the garden. Hopefully, most of the waiting plants will get in the ground today ... and then get rain tonight! Good timing! LOL!
Today is "National Equal Pay Day" .. "Look Alike Day"..

Good Morning! Tuesday April 19, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's again a bright clear day. It will be mostly sunny, mid to upper 80s, and a little windy. There might be rain coming tomorow, but today will be a lovely warmer-than-average spring day.
Yesterday: Having to drive to Raleigh is always a challenge for me, especially to an area we're not familiar with. But, we only made a few wrong turns (accidently drove through one of the areas hit on Saturday - lots of huge tree limbs, and crews cleaning up) and got there on time. Of course, that didn't matter, since the doctor's office was running late. For a procedure that took half an hour or so, we didn't get home until 3:00. Once home, I got some laundry done and all the outside gardens and containers watered. But, after that, except for fixing some dinner, I got a lazy streak (still feeling a bit blue I guess). I did watch Dancing though. :)
Today: It's a dialysis and work day. Hopefully everything will be "normal" today. The morning, as always, is a bit rushed. This evening should be calmer. I need to go on and finish my sewing project, so hopefully I'll work on that while watching TV tonight.
Today is "John Parker Day" ... "National Hanging Out Day" ... "Passover / Pesach (Jewish)" ... "Patriots' Day (Fla)".
Quotes of the Day:

Good Morning! Monday April 18, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear at the moment, and will be mostly clear today. It will be very warm, around 80, and just a little breezy. I'm hoping the wind won't hamper clean up work from the weekend's storms.
Yesterday: It was kind of an "off" day here. I didn't get anything really accomplished. It was a sad anniversary, and I guess I felt a little blue. In the afternoon DH and I rode to town to check on his son, and stop by the grocery store. Then we rode out to my friend's house to check on them. We saw a lot of damage from the storm path, which was very sad to see ... but also an amazing number of people already out and helping with clean up and repairs.
Today: We have a very early appointment in Raleigh, so have to head on out quickly. Since we don't know how long it will take, no plans are made for the rest of the day. If we get back in time, I'll work on getting my plants back out where they belong, and try to finish up my sewing project. :)
Today is "Adult Autism Awareness Day" ... "International Amateur Radio Day" ... "National Stress Awareness Day" ... "National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day" ... "Passover (Jewish - begins at sundown)" ... "Pet Owner's Independence Day" ... "Third World Day" ... "Anniversary - The House That Ruth Built" ... "Anniversary - Paul Revere's Ride" ... "Patriot's Day (Mass. and Maine)" ... "Independence Day (Zimbabwe)".
Quotes of the Day:
"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on."
-- Robert Frost
"Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome."

Good Morning! Sunday April 17, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, mild so far but going up to low 70s. It's really hard to believe there were such bad storms yesterday. At least one tornado passed within 5 miles of my house; but in spite of the awful wind all day, we had no damage here. God really looked out for us old folks! LOL!
Yesterday: There was some sort of problem, so DH didn't do dialysis. That was a blessing in disguise ... normally, I would have had to go pick him up right when the worst of the storm hit. Because the weather was so strange, I actually got very little done, other than some sewing. My project is very nearly finished. DS and family came by last night to visit. They had been to a museum in Raleigh. The exhibit they went to is in the basement ... so they never even knew about the tornado that went through town! But they are safe, we are, and have talked to friends and family members. It's all good. :)
Today: I really don't know now what today will bring. I may go over to a friend's house to help clean up, they got a nearly direct hit. The house is not destroyed, but no power and lots of damage in the yard. I need to run errands; but power is out so many places, I don't know yet how far I'll have to go! LOL! Hopefully I'll end up with a productive day.
Today is "Bat Appreciation Day" ... "Blah Blah Blah Day" ... "Ellis Island Family History Day" ... "International Ford Mustang Day" ... "Nothing Like a Dame Day" ... "Orthodox Palm Sunday" ... "Palm Sunday" ... "Perigean Spring Tides" ... "Pink Moon" ... "Verrazano Day" ... "Flag Day (American Samoa)" ... "Independence Day (Syrian Arab Republic)".

Good Morning! Saturday April 16, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning, even though the day may end up a bit strange. The massive storms crossing the country are now closing in, and the Carolinas seem to have a big target on them. But, weather is an imprecise art at best .. and they could be wrong. Maybe we'll only have a lot of lovely rain. :) I do hope, however, that none of my friends here have been or will be effected by any severe weather!
Yesterday: I got a lot accomplished, even though it wasn't what I thought I would. I didn't get much done outside ... I kept meaning to, but then would go on to another project. I don't think I finished anything (except the never ending dishes and laundry ... even hung clothes out, lovely day!). But I got a lot of progress made on a lot of different projects, and decluttering done in several areas. I even managed a quick trip to take trash to the dump!
Today: It's a dialysis day, so even though I'm not *thrilled* to have to go out in inclement weather, go out I must. Twice. LOL! I hope to put the time in between to good use, house cleaning and sewing. If it gets stormy I won't, I get uneasy ... but, maybe it won't be so bad. Also, hoping my DS and his family will come by for a visit, since they are braving the weather to go to museums today.
Today is "Lazarus Saturday (Orthodox)" ... "National Auctioneers Day" ... "Record Store Day" ... "Teach Your Daughter to Volunteer Day".
Quotes of the Day:
"I have a right to my anger, and I don't want anybody telling me I shouldn't be, that it's not nice to be, and that something's wrong with me because I get angry."

Good Morning! Friday April 15, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, high today in the mid 70s. This will be another wonderful spring day, so it must be taken advantage of before tomorrow's storms again. :)
Yesterday: A typical dialysis and work day meant little else got done. I had company for awhile when we got home, and it was nice to just relax for a few minutes! :) All the "usual" stuff got done, and I finished the stage I was on with my sewing project. Yay!
Today: Hopefully today I will finish another stage on the project; but with such a nice day, I will spend some of it working in the garden. All I'm allowed to do is weed (carefully .. poor eyesight means I often pull up the wrong things! Oops! LOL) ... and dig holes. It's kind of hard to mess up a hole in dirt. :) I'll also try hard to get a bit of normal cleaning done, and depending on my energy level, declutter some of the things that have started piling up. :)
Today is "Global Youth Service Day" ... "Tax Day" ... "Income Tax Pay Day" ... "National Take a Wild Guess Day" ... "National That Sucks Day" ... "Anniversary - Titanic Sinking".
Quotes of the Day:
"Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place."
-- Abigail Van Buren

Good Morning! Thursday April 14, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's clear and sunny, and will be mid 70s today. There is no rain in today's forecast, and not much breeze. It would be a wonderful day to continue gardening. :)
Yesterday: A lot got done in the yard, though very little inside. The first of the veggies are now planted, another bed (elsewhere in the yard) was completely weeded and a rose planted, and the dogwood tree is planted. I also got several smaller things potted, and most of the inside container plants were moved out. I did squeeze in a quick trip to grocery store, and a trip to pick up yet another Rx. It was a very busy day - tiring, but worth it! :) Oh, and I'm nearly finished with the paperwork I'm trying to get out of my way.
Today: It's a dialysis/work day, so I doubt much will get done. I hope to take the rest of the container plants out tonight, finish up the paperwork, and sew!! :)
Today is "Children With Alopecia Day" ... "International Moment of Laughter Day" ... "National D.A.R.E Day" ... "Pan-American Day" ... "Anniversary - President Lincoln's Assassination" ... "Dia De Las Americas (Honduras)" ... "Vaisakhi (India)".

Good Morning! Wednesday April 13, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, and will probably stay mostly clear today. It's going to be low 70s and breezy, which might be a bit cool; but perfect for working in the garden!
Yesterday: As always, a dialysis and work day is a bit busy and chopped up. Since we went in early, there was a bit more afternoon left, which was nice. I got some groceries on the way home. At home, I got 3 loads of laundry done; dishes caught up; a lot of work on the wewing project, and even some paperwork attended to! Of course, I stayed up too late! LOL!
Today: Today will be busy too. The nurse has long since come and gone, and several morning chores done. I have to go into town for a few errands, but then hope to have a large chunk of the day for playing in the dirt! I think today we'll get the first things planted in the big garden, at least one tree planted, and several flowers potted up. Tonight I'll finish putting away the clean laundry, work on the sewing project, and hopefully finish up a paperwork project. :)
Today is "Thomas Jefferson Day"

Good Morning! Tuesday April 12, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! At the moment it's bright and mostly clear. The forecast for today is partly cloudy, mid to upper 70s, and possible "hit or miss" showers or storms. Well, that could make for an *interesting* day! LOL!
Yesterday: As always, a clinic day is very long and boring. We had to deal with traffic both ways, but thankfully no reall slow ups. The day was mainly lots and lots of waiting! One good thing though, DH didn't have to see the doctor that was so rude at the hospital (as we had thought he would). There was a different one, who was very nice and also very helpful about treating the gout.
Today: The day has started out oddly, so I don't know where it will go. It's a dialysis day, but they want him to come in earlier; that will be awkward, but we'll do the best we can. At least it doesn't matter what hours I work; and perhaps there'll be a bit more day left to get things done afterwards! :)
Today is "National Be Kind to Lawyers Day" ... "National Licorice Day" ... "Walk On Your Wild Side Day" ... "Children's Day (Florida)".
Quotes of the Day:
"When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all."
-- Theodore Roosevelt
"People who throw kisses are hopelessly lazy."
-- Bob Hope
"Exercise relieves stress. Nothing relieves exercise."
-- Takayuki Ikkaku

In 1981, the first U.S. space shuttle flight was launched. The flight of Columbia was the first U.S. manned space mission since July 1976.
In 1990, under pressure from environmentalists, three top U.S. tuna canneries -- Heinz, Van Camp and Bumblebee -- announced "dolphin-safe" tuna-catching practices.

Good Morning! Monday April 11, 2011
Good morning! It's going to b e a wonderful day ... though at the moment it's barely light outside. It's a clinic day, which means leaving very early. Today I am ever so thankful for a car with air conditioning, as it will go to the mid 80s! The day may start off a bit cloudy, but will clear and be a bit windy but a lovely warm day.
Yesterday: While I didn't do as much as I gave myself to do, I did have some accomplishments. I reorganized a closet (a major project!), I got a lot of work done on my sewing project, and I got a bit of general decluttering done. The sun didn't come out until late in the afternoon, so that was my excuse not to play in the dirt. In the late afternoon DH and I took a walk around the house. :)
Today: As I said, it's clinic day. We'll be leaving in about half an hour, and most likely won't be back until late afternoon (almost always get stuck in "rush hour" traffic coming and going!). But, tonight I get to watch Dancing.
Today is "Barbershop Quartet Day" ... "International "Louie Louie" Day" ... "Liberation Day (Uganda)".
Quotes of the Day:
"The average person thinks he isn't."
-- Father Larry Lorenzoni
"Love flies, runs, and rejoices; it is free and nothing can hold it back."
-- Thomas a Kempis

-- W. Somerset Maugham

Good Morning! Sunday April 10, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still cloudy (lots of rain and storms last night), but today will go to mid 80s. It might clear up a bit, or we might have more thunder storms. Oh what fun, a guessing game! LOL!
Yesterday: It turned out to be a pretty busy day. After my "usual" morning rushing around, we took DH to dialysis. Then I picked up a bunch of med refils, and got a quick lunch. We went to next town over for some "retail therapy". Actually, I got several "household" items that I had been putting off (i.e., "innards" for a toilet that didn't work right - TMI?? LOL!). I found one special thing I was looking for, a pink dogwood tree. That will go in the front yard so I can see it when the front door is open. We also took a drooling spree through a nursery, and a few special petunias found their way home with me! :)
Today: I'm hoping this will be a more peaceful and productive day. If the storms hold off, I might try to get a few things into pots. I know I will work on the sewing project. I have a few computer projects to get done. And somewhere in there I'll get some "routine" cleaning done. We have a few busy days next week, so I want to try to get to a good stopping point for today. :)
Today is "Commodore Perry Day" ... "National Siblings Day" ... "Salvation Army Founder's Day" ... "Anniversary - Safety Pin Patented" ... "Care Sunday (UK)".

Good Morning! Saturday April 9, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Today will be right much cooler than yesterday, but still quite "comfortable" in the mid to upper 60s. It'll stay cloudy, and there could be some more showers. Storms moved in late yesterday, and there was a thunder storm late at night ... lots of lovely rain, at night as is proper! LOL!
Yesterday: We took advantage of the nice day (that turned out hotter than expected). I got a bit of cleaning done in the morning, and 2 loads of laundry done - even hung things out to take advantage of the weather. A friend came over to help out with yet another electronic issue (resolved!). Then I got my gardener, we took a quick trip through a local antique/flea market, then came back to work in the garden. We made a huge amount of progress in the veggie garden plot, plus some weeding and clearing an older (neglected) garden so I could plant a new rose bush. And, to top off the day, a guy came by last night to take my old van to a shop ... put a battery in it, and it started right up and ran like a dream! LOL! All it needs is an inspection & current tags. Yay! :)
Today: It's a dialysis day, so what ever gets done will be fit around that schedule. Since it is cooler and might be rainy (plus the ground is a bit muddy right now), I'll run a few errands and do some shopping. I'm hoping to find a pink dogwood tree for the front yard; and there are a few other things, as always, to look for. :) I was too tired for sewing last night, so will try to do that tonight as well.
Today is "Baby Massage Day" ... "Jenkins's Ear Day" ... "National Cherish an Antique Day" ... "Winston Churchill Day" ... "Martyr's Day (Tunisia)".
Quotes of the Day:

Everyone have a Great Saturday!

Good Morning! Friday April 8, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Today will be mid to upper 70s, and partly to mostly cloudy. There's a chance of showers late in the day. This is turning into a lovely spring, despite the strange changes in temperatures.
Yesterday: My half day at work was more tiring than I expected - probably because I didn't *really* want to be there! LOL!! But, it's ok, since my employers seem glad for me to be back, even for so few hours. Not very much got done at home, but I did finish the cutting stage for my sewing project!
Today: This morning is being devoted to getting household things caught up. This afternoon will be spent in the garden. And tonight will be (at least partly) spent at the sewing machine! It doesn't sound like a lot, summed up this way, but I expect it'll be a pretty busy day. I'm really hoping to get all the garden frames (for raised beds) in place, some of the soaking shrubs planted, and some progress made on the sewing project. And, of course, fit it the "usual", laundry, dishes, meals, dishes, cleaning, dishes ... LOL!
Today is "Hana Matsuri (Flower Festival - Japan)" ... "National D.A.R.E Day".
Quotes of the Day:
"If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere."

Good Morning! Thursday April 7, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's bright and clear again, and will be even warmer than yesterday. It will be mid to upper 70s, and a little breezy ... a perfect spring day!
Yesterday: It ended up being a very busy day. Morning, of course, is always busy doing "morning stuff"! :) DH had a doctor's appointment - gout has cleared, everything looks fine for now. He goes back in a month for a follow up with a new doctor (the 5th one he'll be seeing at this practice!) I made a couple of quick stops, and we took subs home for lunch. In the afternoon the therapist worked with DH outside since it was so nice. My friend and I worked hard in the garden. It is now to the stage of getting the good topsoil mixed in, and hopefully some plants in by next week! I did do a bit more on my sewing project, but not much else around the house. I did, of course, watch AI, and every week I like Scotty more (yay, "home town" guy!). :)
Today: It's dialysis and work day, so I'm not really "planning" on getting much done. Hopefully tonight I'll dig up a bit of energy (or motivation? LOL!) and work on the sewing project. And, of course, curiosity will win and I'll watch the results show. :)
Today is "International Beaver Day" ... "International Snailpapers Day" ... "National Beer Day" ... "No Housework Day" ... "UN World Health Day" ... "Anniversary - Metric System" ... "Anniversary - World Health Organization".

Good Morning! Wednesday April 6, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's bright and clear, and warming back up to nearly (or at) 70 today. The storms, with their rain and wind, have moved on, leaving a beautiful day here.
Yesterday: The morning was a scramble, getting everything done plus getting dressed fit for public! LOL! But, even with the rain, we managed to get everywhere we needed to be on time. It felt odd to be back at work; but I used my half day productively, to make sure everything that had been left on my desk since Feb. was caught up. In the evening I did a little bit more decluttering in the guest room, but that's about all.
Today: Today is our "in between" day, but DH has a doctor appointment later this morning. The nurse has already come and gone. I'm trying to catch up email, laundry, and dishes ... in between meals and meds! After the appointment, I hope to get work done on the garden again. It should be a great day for being outside. I'll try to do a bit more in the guest room tonight, as well as more work on the project that I'm so nearly ready to start sewing on! :)
Today is "Drowsy Drive Awareness Day" ... "National Day of Hope" ... "Paraprofessional Appreciation Day" ... "Tartan Day" ... "Charki Day (Thailand)".

Good Morning! Tuesday April 5, 2011
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It was very windy all night, and in the early hours of the morning there was thunder and lightening, and lots of rain ... woke up to a moat instead of a driveway again! But, it's already quit raining; I believe the system has moved on across to the east now. It will only by mid 60s today, but might start clearing by this afternoon.
Yesterday: We had an unexpectedly busy day - which seems to be "normal"! LOL! After all the "morning stuff" was done, DH and I rode to take trash to the dump and then go pay the rent. We decided, since we were out, to take care of some other things too. I dropped him at the bank to straighten out his accounts; I paid rent on a storage building, and managed a quick stop in a thrift store (still looking for tea cups ... found some pretty saucers!). We got subs for lunch, and headed home. Not long after we got home, the therapist came to work with DH. Then a friend came by - we had planned to work in the garden, but it was much windier than we expected, so that didn't happen. After she left, our neighbor came over and we had a lovely long visit. By then it was past time for dinner ... and then on into getting evening things done, and watching Dancing. :)
Today: I will (finally) go back to work while DH is at dialysis. It will only be 4 to 5 hours, twice a week. And, I can't say I'm thrilled to go back! LOL! But my bank account will be happier. And at least I don't have to get up *quite* so early, that's a good thing. :) I have nothing else in particular planned, will just see how the day goes and what can get done this evening.
Today is "National Deep Dish Pizza Day" ... "National Tomb-Sweeping Day/Qing Ming Festival (China)" ... "National Tomb-Sweeping Day (Taiwan)".
Quotes of the Day:

Good Morning! Monday April 4, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and warm already, and will go to mid or upper 80s! Yep, quite a jump in temps .. and more or less typical for NC. Although, we have set a number of both high and low records so far this year. Also typical - by tomorrow it will be noticably cooler, and possibly stormy. Today would be a good gardening day!
Yesterday: I did not get as much accomplished as I would like; but htat's mostly because I'm too lazy! LOL! I did get a good bit of decluttering done (the house *looks* presentable*); also some of the kind of cleaning that only shows if you don't do it. Laundry got done (so why is there already more???), and I even worked out in the garden pulling out grass. Not so much fun, but the rainy weather has put us behind getting it prepped.
Today: Today will be a errand day, for taking trash to the dump and paying rent. Since DH is feeling so much better, it will be a good day for getting out of the house for something other than dialysis! In the afternoon I will get back to the grass pulling!
Today is "UN International Day For Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action" ... "Victims of Violence Wholly Day" ... "Anniversary - Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr." ... "Anniversary - NATO" ... "Children's Day (Taiwan)" ... "Independence Day (Senegal)".
Quotes of the Day:
"The greatest of faults, I should say, is to be conscious of none."
-- Thomas Carlyle
"A friend is someone who will help you move. A real friend is someone who will help you move a body. "
-- Unknown
"Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit."
-- e e cummings
"Poverty cannot deprive us of many consolations. It cannot rob us of the affection we have for each other, or degrade us in our own opinion, of in that of any person, whose opinion we ought to value."
-- Ann Radcliffe
Today in history:

Good Morning! Sunday April 3, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's sunny and warm, and today will be close to 70. It will be a doors open day for sure, and a day to get outside as much as possible, get caught up in the yard.
Yesterday: We didn't end up doing much outside, it was much too windy (and even though the sun was warm, the wind was not! LOL!). So, instead, after taking DH to dialysis, I went on a hunt for tea cups. I wasn't very successful - but I did find some wonderful wrought iron dragonflies for my garden! LOL! I also had a friend come do some measuring to give me an estimate on building a "real" porch (instead of just a cement pad). I don't know if that will actually happen, but nice to dream about. :)
Today: I've gotten a good start on the day, and hope I can keep my momentum going. I have a bit of catching up to do inside; but by this afternoon I really hope to go play in the dirt! LOL!
Today is "Tweed Day" ... "Anniversary - Pony Express Mail Service" ... "Mothering Sunday (UK)".
Quotes of the Day:
"The older I grow the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom."
-- H. L. Mencken

Good Morning! Saturday April 2, 2011
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright, and will go to mid or upper 60s today. It'll be a lovely day for trying to get some gardening in, although it will be very windy. The weather will change again in a day or two, so we'd best get done what we can!
Yesterday: It turned into a surprisingly busy day. After the visitng nurse left, we got a call from the (local) doctor's office wanting DH to come in as soon as we could get there. That went surprisingly fast, he got treatment for a problem, and we were home again by soon after noon. Not long after lunch, some men came by to pick up the borrowed tiller, and also for me to describe a porch to build (they will give me an estimate). As they were leaving, the therapist got here. While he was here, I got some chicken cooked for dinner later. Then I made one more run back to town, to mail off a package. Last night I actually managed to get a few cleaning jobs done, but not much on the sewing.
Today: It's a dialysis day, so a busy morning trying to do what's needed before leaving the house. This afternoon, while the sun is out, I hope to help my gardner finish getting the garden plot ready for the next step (several days of rain, although it was welcome, slowed us down!). Hopefully tonight I'll get to the sewing project.
Today is "International Children's Book Day" ... "National Love Our Children Day" ... "Reconciliation Day" ... "Tangible Karma Day" ... "UN World Autism Awareness Day" ... "Pascua Florida Day (Florida)"..
Quotes of the Day:
"Sure there are dishonest men in local government. But there are dishonest men in national government too."
-- Richard M. Nixon
"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy - but that could change."
-- Dan Quayle,
"The secret of happiness is to make others believe they are the cause of it."
-- Al Batt
