Good Morning! Tuesday February 16, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast for today is low 40s, partly cloudy, breezy. Right now it is bright and clear ... and cold! :) I'm not sure (because it keeps changing), but I believe it's supposed to be mostly clear and 40s all week.
Last night was my business class (more of a discussion, and more interesting than "dry facts"), and then groceries. I still got home in time to watch the figure skating. I stayed up way too late, but saw the favored Chinese couple get the gold! (and silver, breaking a 12 year Russian dominance on pairs skating). I'm happy for them.
Tonight, a conflict ... Olympics or AI??? I don't know yet what I'll choose. :)

Today is "International Pancake Day" ... "Mardi Gras" ... "Shrove Tuesday" ... "Bursting Day (Iceland)" ... "Independence Day (Lithuania)".

Quotes of the Day:
"We cannot control the evil tongues of others; but a good life enables us to disregard them."
-- Cato the Elder

"No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another."
-- Charles Dickens

Today in history:
In 1923, archaeologists opened the treasure-laden tomb of Tutankhamen, "King Tut," in Egypt's Valley of the Kings.

In 1933, a patent for the synthetic fiber nylon was awarded to the DuPont Co.
