Yes, I did say "Top 9". Again. Last week Michael had the lowest vote count .. and the judges (quite rightfully in my opinion) used the one save of the season to keep him in. But, this week, 2 will have to go.
The guest mentor is Adam Lambert, which I find quite odd. The runner up from another season as a mentor? A very strange one at that? Interesting to say the least.
First: Crystal, "I'm Saved" (?) I'm actually not familiar with this song; but I like her no matter what shes does. This was fun.
Judges: Randy: dope! loved it! Ellen: happy birthday to the audience (tired of saying great) Kara: great Simon: loved that she didn't choose an obvious song, and didn't fall into "karioke" trap, original.
Second: Andrew, "Hound Dog". Very weird tempo on this. Sorry, just not my favorite at all. This should be rock 'n roll, not .. can't think of what it reminds me of, but it just doesn't feel right to me.
Judges: Randy: not good, karioke. Ellen: needed more swagger, thought he pulled it off. Kara: he needed to OWN the stage. Simon: lazy, didn't feel like a star performance, all of his "coolness" has been sucked out.
Third: Tim, "Can't Help Falling In Love". He has a nice voice, and this wasn't bad, but just not quite "there" for me. Nice ending though.
Judges: Randy: actually liked it. Ellen: compared him to shots of tequila. Kara: probably favorite performance; authentic, etc. Simon: Zero to hero in 2 weeks.
Fourth: Lee, "A Little Less Conversation". OK, this was nice, he got "into" it, and I really enjoyed it.
Judges: Randy: in the zone! Ellen: current, likes he's engaging with the audience. Kara: loved that he really went for it! but, wants him not quite so serious. Simon: nailed it.
Fifth: Aaron, "Blue Suede Shoes". I thought he did pretty good.
Judges: divided opinions
Sixth: Siobhan, "Suspicious Minds", OK, but still don't like the screaming.
Judges: not so much
Seventh: Mike, "In the Ghetto". This brought me to tears. He's just that good.
Judges: Randy: sleepy, but HOT vocals. Ellen: glad they saved him. Kara: beautiful song, sung well. Simon: million billion times better than last week, one of his favorite of Mike's performances.
Eighth: Katie, "Baby What Do You Want Me To Do". She's good, I enjoyed this, even though it sounded "wrong" in her voice.
Judges: Randy: good Ellen: horny song Kara: showed them Simon: loud and annoying
Nineth: Casey, "Lordy Miss Claudie". Not familiar with this either; but I just plain like this guy!
Judges: Randy: nothing different, but solid. Ellen: not exciting, but good. Kara: fell short of brilliance. Simon: wasted opportunity, forgettable song but good vocals.
My prediction: going out on a limb this week, but I'm saying it could be bye-bye Andrew. But also ... I just don't know; maybe Siobhan or Aaron.
I just hope my favorites stay ... Crystal, Mike, and Casey!
