Good Morning! Tuesday October 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun is just coming over the tree tops way in back, and the sunrise is gorgeous this morning. Today will be upper 60s, maybe even low 70s, partly cloudy but mostly sunny. I hate to admit it after last week's deluge ... but I will soon have to water the gardens again. It's hard to guess with the strange weather we've had this year; but I suspect the outside plants may have to come inside a bit earlier this year.
I ended up having to run an errand after work ... and Wal-Mart was insane!! ... so much later getting home than I would have liked. And of course I got very little done. Eventually some energy or enthusiasm or something will kick in and I'll get the things done around here that I want done. I hope! LOL!

Today is "UN World Teacher's Day" ... "Republic Day (Portugal)"

Quotes of the Day:
"In democracy it's your vote that counts; In feudalism it's your count that votes."
-- Mogens Jallberg

"If you make it plain you like people, it's hard for them to resist liking you back."
-- Lois McMaster Bujold

"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: You don't give up."
-- Anne Lamott

Today in history:
In 1989, the Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize for nonviolent efforts to free his homeland from China.

In 2001, Barry Bonds hit his 71st home run, most by a player in one season, breaking Mark McGwire's 1998 Major League Baseball record. The San Francisco Giants slugger finished the season with 73 homers.
