Good morning! It's a gorgeous morning. The sun is shining brightly, and reflecting off all the ice. It makes it look pretty, but it's extremely cold and treacherous out there ... and I am NOT going out until I have to! LOL! I know there has been traffic on my road, so I suspect this morning it is a solid sheet of slippery ice; and tomorrow morning will likely be the same. Hopefully with the sun out, at least some of it will melt off and dry away. I should be able to get to work tomorrow; on the other hand ... no water this morning! LOL! I was prepared for that though, so we'll be ok until it thaws out. With the sun out, even though the temps are cold, it will probably be running again in a few hours.
Yesterday we never lost power or water. I did some laundry, and made a pot of soup; but that was about it. I'd run back here every once in awhile to check email, then back to the den which was - by comparison - reasonably warm! LOL! I did read a book, so not a completely "wasted" day. I'm hoping, with the sun shining (this is a dark house, so a cloudy day can be very depressing), I can dredge up some energy and at least clear away some of the clutter.
I hope you are all keeping warm and safe!!

RNIA .... Right Now I Am ... directly copied from my nieces! :)
Eating: had grits earlier, now just my coffee
Feeling: cold and disappointed
Listening: clock ticking, small heater fan, obnoxious dog next door that won't stop BARKING
Watching: actually, just turned on HGTV, "Carter Can" .. had to turn away from weather showing all the places that got the snow that I did NOT get.
Reading: just starting "Plum Spooky" (Janet Evanovich)
Loving: my family
Disliking: being cold and broke
Thinking: as little as possible
Hoping: the gas holds out until payday and that we get a decent tax refund
Wishing: to win the lottery.

Good Morning! Saturday January 30, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's all bright and white outside - sadly for me, it's all ICE! No snow here, just sleet (and still coming down). But the good news is, I got to the grocery store last night, and they weren't out of anything. LOL! The power has not gone out, but with the sleet continuing all day, it may yet do so. I'm about as ready as I can be I guess. I have plenty of water (in jugs for drinking water, and in buckets also), we still have gas (very low, but enough if we're conservative), we have food in the house. Now, if I was only about 30 or 40 years younger so I could go outside and pretend to enjoy this stuff!! LOL!!
Today I will try to get more of the Christmas stuff packed up. It's already late (yeah, I know ... decided to stay under warm quilts as long as I could stand it! LOL!), but I will manage to get some of it done. If the sleet and cold keeps up as predicted ... I may well have 3 days to work in; just a wait-and-see situation. :)
Today is "Inane Answering Machine Message Day" ... "Wolf Moon" ... "King's Birthday (Jordan)".

Good Morning! Friday January 29, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. So far there are streaks of clouds moving in, but it's not dark or gloomy. The forecast for today is very strange. It's much cooler than yesterday, highs in mid 40s but dropping. A storm is moving in tonight ... it's completely a guessing game as to who will get what. A "line" goes right through my county to the north of me ... I pretty much expect I'll oly see sleet and ice, and no snow. I am not very happy about that, but I have a feeling that complaining to the weatherman would NOT help! LOL!
I finally dug out a little electric heater, so now my room is not so cold. And, last night I did laundry. With ice coming, there's a very good chance of the power going out, so trying to make sure we're "prepared". That means no laundry or dishes piled up; plenty of bottled water; and food that doesn't require refrigeration or microwave. With a gas stove, we'll be OK as long as the gas doesn't run out! LOL!

Good Morning! Thursday January 28, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! Out my window is all sparkly with sunshine on frost. We have a very strange weather pattern going on here. Today will be lower 60s, mostly clear, and windy. And that windy is ushering in a major storm system ... watches go into effect this afternoon, even though the storm isn't "due" until tomorrow evening. They're tossing around that "S" word again! LOL! My only concern is that --once again-- winter weather may cancel plans I have, which leaves someone else stuck doing what I should (and willingly would) be helping with. I know this is all part of God's plan. I just don't understand it! LOL!
Last night was another night of not much getting done. It was just plain uncomfortably chilly in the house. I'm very glad I at least do have heat ... I know there are people who don't. Still ... I watched AI; dozed (in the one warm room) through some silly programs; checked email briefly and listened to some "pretty words", and tried to go to bed early. The fact that the news was delayed didn't help! :) Oh well. It will be interesting to see what today holds!

Good Morning! Wednesday January 27, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, a lovely winter day. It will go to around 50 - normal for here. There is more "stuff" coming, but not until later in the week.
I really didn't get anything done last night. When it's cold, it's hard to be motivated! LOL! I watched AI (not especially impressed), and then watched (for I-don't-even-know-how-many-th time) Sister Act 2. Sometimes I just need something fun with a happy ending! :)
I hope tonight I'll do better - at least get my sewing/desk area cleaned a bit so I can do something useful.

Good Morning! Tuesday January 26, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast for today is "partly cloudy", but at the moment my backyard is full of sunlight! It'll be cooler today, around 50; and windy. Not as windy, I hope, as Sunday night was! That blew the neighbor's dog pen over!
Last night's business class was interesting, even if I don't totally grasp all the concepts. We have "homework" of sorts, a self analysis using a business model. Good thing we don't get grades! LOL!!
Tonight is more AI, although (as always) I don't enjoy the auditions as much as when they've narrowed down the field. So, I will watch - but will be doing other things as well. There's still a lot of stuff to finish packing up to put upstairs, and the ever-present laundry. :)

Good Morning! Monday January 25, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's strangely warm for January; we got lots of lovely (pond-filling!) rain; and my house didn't blow down. :) My son fixed the computer over the weekend ... but ... a fierce storm went through overnight and the power was out for awhile (I can't tell how long, but looks like about an hour). That, of course, made all the lamps on timers, clocks, etc. wrong ... which means I am running late! LOL!
I had a great weekend with DS, DDIL, and grands. It was lovely and relaxing. We got home ahead of the rain, and I got laundry caught up. Tonight I have my business class. I sure hope I understand more than I did last week! :)

Good Afternoon! Wednesday January 20, 2010
I don't think there's actually anyone out there reading this blog. But, just in case ... I have to "disappear" for awhile. My computer has caught a virus. I don't know how long it will take me to get it fixed. (actually, I don't know how long it will take me to come up with the $$ to have it fixed!!!).

Good Morning! Tuesday January 19, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It will be another gorgeous un-winter-like day, possibly to the upper 60s; and sunny, only a few "high thin" clouds. Much too pretty to be stuck in an office! LOL!
I had my first "business" class last night. In theory I learned about "micro-ecconomics". In fact - I am in so much trouble! LOL!! I'm just not as smart as the others in the class ... so I'll have to try three times as hard! Oh well, it's only one night a week, and I really hope I manager to learn something.
Tonight, of course, is AI; but I hope to get a few more boxes packed up, and get the dining room and living room cleared again; or at least, the boxes stacked neatly. I have one last tree to go upstairs, so hopefully I will get that done too.
Today is "Rid the World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks Day" ... "Tin Can Day" ... "Confederate Heroes Day (Texas)" ... "Timket (Ethiopia)".

Good Morning! Monday January 18, 2010
Good morning! It is a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, and will be around 60 today. I'm loving this "winter" weather! LOL! Yesterday was a lovely day too, in between the rain. We even had a thunder storm yesterday afternoon (Woo Hoo!! Snow coming! LOL!). It was nice and warm ... and the "ice mountain" on the pond is completely gone now.
We got a lot done in a short time. More Christmas stuff is packed away, the garlands are all down, and there's only one tree left to take upstairs. The 3 biggest trees will go to the barn (eventually).

Good Morning! Sunday January 17, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It rained all night, and I woke up this morning to pouring rain .... everything is washed clean and bright, and now the sun is trying to peep out and make sparkling diamonds everywhere! The forecast is for mid 50s and mostly cloudy and rainy. But, as I said, the sun is coming out, so it won't be a bad day at all.
Yesterday was a lot of fun. I went with 3 friends from work, we spent all day "window shopping". We went to a second hand store, the flea market, and 2 outlet stores. The most expensive thing any of us did was eat lunch at the fair grounds! LOL! Good grief, $3.50 for a hot dog??? Next time we'll pack a picnic. :)
I didn't get home until close to 8:00 ... so of course nothing at home got done (except a load of laundry before I left). I'll get busy today. I already have laundry going, and have made a start in the kitchen. I plan to take the big (inside) tree down today, but the other (the 2 white trees) will stay up awhile. I thought I would get everything down in January, but now it doesn't look like I will. Oh well. They're still pretty to enjoy! LOL!

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's a bit early - sun isn't quite up yet, but the edges of sunrise are glorious! In just a little while I'm riding with a friend from work to a flea market. I'm thinking this will be a lot of fun. Of course, when I get home I will have to work twice as hard to get done what I need to today! LOL! But that's ok. By tonight it's supposed to be rainy; and might be tomorrow. At least it's no longer bitterly cold. I hope the easing of the temps is for everyone else too (haven't seen a weather report).
I got a little bit packed up last night, but didn't take anything upstairs. As I said .. will have to work harder tonight! :)

Good morning! It's a gorgeous morning! It's clear, the sky is pink and gold, and I can see the sun reflecting on thngs in the yard. It's going up to 60 today!! (and that forecast is actually north of me, to could be even higher). Finally, that long bitter cold spell is over. While there's still a lot of winter left, surely the rest will be "normal" for us.
I managed to pack up a few more boxes last night, and even got one upstairs. Yes, only one ... but it was heavy! LOL! Maybe it will take longer than I thought; but since I still get to enjoy everything for a while longer, it's all good. :)
The kitchen sink is (finally) unclogged ... so tonight I will wash a lot of dishes! LOL! Maybe I'll do some laundry. Hopefully I'll pack up another box or two. Or, maybe I'll just watch TV. :)

Good Morning! Thursday January 14, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Today we'll have upper 50s, bright and clear, for the first time in nearly 2 and a half weeks. They're also saying, hopefully, it will be warm"er" through the rest of January. If I can't have snow - I want spring! LOL!
I actually managed to get 2 trees upstairs last night, packed up several smaller boxes ... and watched AI (well, mostly watched! LOL!). Every year I say I'm not going to watch the auditions, because so much of it is painful to listen to. But, the silly old man at the very end of the show made it all worth while.
Tonight I'm aiming for packing up the nutcrackers. That's always hard to do, but it's time. The room will look so empty when they're gone; but it's time to put snowmen (talk about optimism! LOL!) on the mantle.

Everyone have a Great Thursday!

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's supposed to be mid to upper 40s today, bright and sunny; and even warmer is on the way. I'm ready for the kitchen sink to thaw out, and the heater to quit running! LOL!
Last night I did actually get a load of laundry done ... but of course (as all who know me expected), mostly watched AI. I see a few good contenders; and quite a few that made me wonder "WHY"?? LOL! They're sending those kids to Hollywood, knowing they'll be sent right home again. Oh well, they wouldn't let me be a judge. :)

Good Morning! Monday January 11, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear out; and though it's very cold (cold enough to freeze our water for the first time!), it's also going into the mid 40s today. Everything (including pipes!) will begin to thaw out. It may be partly cloudy as the day progresses, but all in all, not a bad day for a Monday! :)
I didn't accomplish as much as I would have liked; but I actually got more done than I thought I would. The upstairs is (mostly) neat and ready for Christmas things to be stored. The "hard" part, of course, will be putting all my pretty things into boxes to not be seen again until next November. The outside stuff will stay up quite awhile, as it's too cold to deal with. Eventually I guess I will unplug (most of) the lights! LOL!
Today is "National Clean Off Your Desk Day" ... "Anniversary - "Designated Hitter" Rule" ... "Coming-of-Age Day (Japan)" ... "Plough Monday (UK)" ... "Independence Day (Morocco)" ... "National Unity Day (Nepal)".
Quotes of the Day:
"I have come to the conclusion that politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians."
-- Charles De Gaulle
"We rarely think people have good sense unless they agree with us."

In 1935, U.S. aviator Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly from Hawaii to California.
In 1949, Los Angles notes its first recorded snowfall.

Good Morning! Sunday January 10, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun is out, it's clear and bright ... and still very COLD. Cold for NC that is ... but it looks like this spell will be easing for all of us soon. (they're even saying we could get to above normal by next weekend!). Despite the cold, yesterday was a fairly productive day. I did have a lot of help! :) We got the upstairs room over half cleaned and organized - it won't take me long this afternoon to finish that. I'll bring empty boxes down, and maybe even get a tree or two put up. Yesterday we also got a "leaky" window (cold air blowing in around the a/c) sealed up. Another great use for bubble wrap! LOL! And, we got trash and plastics taken to the dump.
Today I will finish laundry, do some cleaning, work on the upstairs project, clear off the dining room table (well, that's a "maybe" project), and try to finish updating my 2010 calendar.
Today is "National Cut Your Energy Costs Day" ... "Anniversary - Women's Suffrage Amendment".
Quotes of the Day:
"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."

-- Fran Lebowitz
Today in history:

In 1878, a constitutional amendment that would give women the right to vote was introduced into the U.S. Senate. It wasn't until 42 years later that the amendment was signed into law.
In 1901, oil was discovered at the Spindletop claim near Beaumont, Texas, launching the Southwest oil boom.
In 1920, the League of Nations came into being as the Treaty of Versailles went into effect.

Good Morning! Saturday January 9, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still a bit overcast, but not dark and gloomy looking. We're still, like the rest of the country apparently, in a deep freeze. High today to be mid 30s ... which may not be as cold as a lot of my friends; but it sure is cold for NC, and for MY house! LOL! We've been blessed though, no storms and no power outages.
Last night ... I really didn't do anything once again. It's a bit chilly inside (conserving gas). This morning I'm off to a slow start, but once I get busy I know I'll warm up. I hope to try to get the upstairs room clean and organized today, and start bringing down the boxes to pack away decorations. And I think a few of the trees may go upstairs today. I had a funny thought about that. Perhaps I'll put some of them near the windows, and leave them plugged into timers for a few more months! LOL! Wouldn't be seen from inside; but it would make the house a bit more cheerful to drive up to at night! :)
Today is "National Apricot Day" ... "Aviation Day" ... "Step Father's Day" ... "Aviation in America Day" ... "Balloon Ascension Day" ... Connecticut Day".

Good Morning! Friday January 7, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still overcast, but the forecast calls for some of it to blow away. It's very cold and windy ... and DRY! No, we did NOT get the promised snow. At least, not around my house. (disappointment!). Well, at least the roads are safe. Hopefully we only have a few more days of the super cold (for here), and it will start getting closer to "normal".
I did finally get most of the laundry put up last night. Nothing like the promise of someone stopping by for impetus! LOL! A friend came by to see all the trees (and other stuff), so that was a nice little visit. After that, though ... Thursday has some of my favorite shows. :)
Tonight I *might* have someone else come by. It will be the last chance, as this weekend, sadly, I will start taking down Christmas decorations (and replacing with winter).
Today is "National Joygerm Day" ... "Saint Gudula Feast Day (Christian)" ... "Show & Tell Day at Work" ... "Midwife's Day/Women's Day (Greece)".

Good Morning! Thursday January 7, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It's bright and clear, and may actually go to the low 40s. Clouds will be moving in this afternoon; and just north of me they're predicting possibly up to an inch of snow. I know that is nothing in a lot of areas ... but it's a big deal here! LOL! Or at least it would be ... if I got to see any of it. That doesn't seem likely.
I had another night of getting nothing done. It looks like until this super cold snap is gone I won't get a lot accomplished ... trying to conserve the heating gas means lowering the thermostat and bundling up more. Best excuse I ever had! LOL!
Tonight I do have to deal with some laundry; but other than that, it's a good TV night. :)

Good Morning! Wednesday January 6, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It might even be a bit "warmer" today (although that only means it may get above freezing! LOL!); bright and clear today, but maybe clouds moving in by tomorrow.
Last night was another cold night. The heat doesn't always circulate as well as we'd like ... which makes a great excuse for being lazy! LOL! It'll soon be time to take down the decorations, but I'm enjoying them this last few days.
Hopefully tonight I'll do some of the little chores I didn't do last night. And I really need to "find" my sewing table again! :)
Today is "Carnival Season" ... "Epiphany" ... "Little Christmas" ... "Twelfth Day" ... "Three Kings Day (Christian)" ... "Admission Day (New Mexico)" ... "Christmas (Armenian)" ... "La Befana (Italy)".

Good Morning! Tuesday January 5, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! It will be another cold day here ... apparently as is most of the nation. Or at least the east coast! According to the local weather guru, we're in the middle of the longest cold spell in 30 years. But .. no snow. For *some* of us, that is NOT a good thing! LOL!
Last night I did manage to get laundry caught up. Well, washed and dried. :) Tonight I hope to get it all put away. I do tend to try to stay in the warmer rooms in the house (duh!), but I hope to do a bit of decluttering. The decorations will start coming down this weekend, but there are still a few people who might want to see them before that.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and very cold, and will be mostly sunny today. And still cold! :) We came home last night from our weekend visiting to find my little pond already frozen over. It is funny to see water spraying out of the top of a little ice mountain! LOL!
We had a very nice visit with family. One of my goals for this year is to spend more time with family ... all 4 generations! For now, though, the next "project" will be getting the upstairs room cleaned before packing up Christmas decorations. And before that happens, it's catch up laundry time!

Good Morning! Friday January 1, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's gray and cold here ... BUT ... it's the start of a brand new year and a brand new decade! That's exciting - there are so many possibilities out there. I long since gave up making "New Year's Resolutions" ... they were usually unattainable, and never kept. So this year I am setting goals. If I don't reach them, I won't feel like I've failed. Instead, some may take longer than others to accomplish. I have goals to finish some of my started quilting projects; but that depends on getting my sewing machine running properly again. I have goals of getting better at remembering family birthdays and anniversaries (which is a gola I have never fully reached, but will keep trying), and also spending more time with family. That one starts today, leaving this afternoon for a weekend with my DB & DSIL, and my parents. (and, again, I won't have computer access - someday I'm going to get one of those card thingys! LOL! - so there may not be a newsletter for Saturday and Sunday). I also have goals for some closet and cabinet cleaning. If I can stick to a schedule, I can do those. If not - I'll finish next year. Or the next. LOL!
For today, I have to go finish laundry and pack; and bake a cake (Joyce - don't tell Pat - it's a surprise! LOL!). We plan to be on the road by mid afternoon, and be there to visit a bit with Mama by after dinner tonight.
I hope every one of my readers has a good New Year's Day, and I wish you all the best of everything life has to offer in the coming year!
Today is "New Years Day" ... "Circumcision of Christ (Christian)" ... "New Year's Dishonor List" ... "St. Basil's Day (E. Orthodox)" ... "Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (Roman Catholic)" ... "Z Day" ... "Anniversary - Birth of First Baby Boomer" ... "Mummers Parade (Pa, US)" ... "Tournament of Roses Parade (Ca, US)" ... "Rose Bowl Game (Pasadena, Ca)" ... "Liberation Day (Cuba)" ... "Independence Day (Haiti)" ... "New Year (1st-3rd -Japan)" ... "Independence Day (Sudan)".
