Good Morning! Friday June 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It's still hot, but perhaps not as hot as yesterday ... only mid to upper 90s today (no triple digits)! :) There's a much better chance of rain this afternoon ... although it's still those "pop-up" storms that tend to miss me. Perhaps today will be different!
Last night I actually got most of the stitching done on my small project. I would have finished ... except ... the bobbin ran out, and it was late. I decided my eyes were too tired to try to rewind it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL!
Tonight I should be able to finish; and hopefully, get back to work on another project. If I don't get another lazy streak! :)

Today is "Take Your Dog to Work Day" ... "Anniversary - Battle of Little Bighorn" ... "Ratification Day (Virginia)" ... "Independence Day (Mozambique)" ... "National Day (Bhutan)" ... "National Day (Slovenia)".

Quotes of the Day:
"It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow."
-- Robert H. Goddard

"Illegal aliens have always been a problem in the United States. Ask any Indian."
-- Robert Orben

A thought for the day
James H. Boren defined bureaucrats as the only people in the world who can say absolutely nothing and mean it.

Today in history:
In 1788, Virginia ratified the U.S. Constitution, the 10th state to do so.

In 1951, CBS aired the first color television broadcast. At the time, no color TV sets were owned by the public.

In 1967, with Mick Jagger, Keith Richard and others singing backup, the Beatles recorded "All You Need Is Love" before an international television audience estimated at 400 million people.

In 1993, Kim Campbell was sworn in as Canada's first woman prime minister.

in 2006, Warren Buffett announced plans to give away 85 percent of his shares in his company, about $37 billion, to charity. Most of that -- some $31 billion -- was earmarked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
