Good Morning! Friday June 4, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. While it's faintly hazy this morning, it will be mostly sunny later today. In fact, it will be quite hot ... low to mid 90s ... and humid. This should mean weekend plans won't be ruined (at least, not for "younger" people who can stand the heat! LOL!).
Last night the table got moved. It didn't end up where I thought it would ... but it's out of the way! And, the sewing table is partly in place. I have a lot more to do to finish getting the room re-organized, but at least I'm a big step closer. I watched some of Dance, and some reruns. I tried to do some laundry - my dryer is acting strange, so I guess it's time to call the repair man. Or use the clothesline! :)Today my niece is coming to visit, and I'm not sure what we'll get done tonight; probably not much but relaxing.

Today is "Audacity To Hope Day" ... "UN International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression" ... "Flag Day (Finland)".

Quotes of the Day:
"Only some people get what they want. Those are the people who show up to get it."
-- Dianne Houston

"Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."
-- Edgar Allan Poe

Today in history:
In 1784, France's Marie Thible of Lyons became the first woman to fly in a hot-air balloon.

In 1896, Henry Ford wheeled his first car from a brick shed in Detroit and drove it around darkened streets on a trial run.

In 1917, the first Pulitzer Prizes were awarded.

In 1992, U.S. Postal officials announced that the young, 1950s-era Elvis Presley portrait was chosen overwhelmingly over the older, Las Vegas-style Elvis in a nationwide vote for a new postage stamp honoring "The King."
