Good Morning! Monday May 31, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. No rain yesterday, and none in the forecast for today ... just upper 80s, partly cloudy, humid. It might be a day for outside, but I don't know yet. First I have to run the errands that I decided I was too tired to do yesterday! LOL!
I did get some boxes unpacked and flattened; most things are (more or less) in their designated rooms. I still have a lot to do!
Later this morning I will get the errands done, and then decide how the day will go. I have some bookshelves on the porch that I need to bring inside. I hate to do that - they'll be in the way until I can get some furniture re-arranged. And, part of my re-arranging has to wait until I can get someone to come pick up the world's ugliest loveseat! LOL! (will be calling tomorrow, but today is a holiday).
Today, being Memorial Day (observed), is a day of remembrance and honor and prayer for all, past and present, of our service men and women. It is also ... to my way of thinking ... a day of joy and thankfulness for the freedoms we have because of our brave military. (no lecture, just an opinion! :) ).

Today is "Memorial Day (Observed)" ... "Prayer For Peace, Memorial Day" ... "What You Think Upon Grows Day" ... "World No Tobacco Day" ... "Anniversary - Copyright Law".

-- Jane Caminos

Good Morning! Sunday May 30, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's a bit gray and humid, but I think the forecast is for only a "chance" of afternoon showers. We have had a bit of rain at home this week, so everything seems to be thriving. I still have outdoor stuff that needs to be done, but it will have to be put off (unless the weather holds for my "gardner" to help! LOL!). We got home late last night, and unloaded a car full of stuff; my son's truck full of stuff (only part of that had to be unloaded, he had things for his house too); and a bit more from a trailer. Our neighbor came over and helped, so it got done fairly quickly. Now I just have to figure out where it all goes! LOL!
This morning I have a load of laundry in the dryer, and the kitchen floor is mopped (thanks Joyce!!!). I have errands to run later this afternoon, and in between all the errands and "regular" cleaning, I have boxes to unpack. My guest room project gets put off, but (hopefully) only by a week - depending on how much energy I can dredge up today and tomorrow! LOL!

Good Morning! Saturday May 29, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. For now it's warm and clear out, after lots of late evening storms and overnight showers. It will be mid 80s later, and possible afternoon storms.
My son got here (my brother's house) late last night - safely, after having to travel through some of the storms.
Yesterday was not as hard a day. Most everything has been packed (although we did discover we had forgotten to check inside the dishwasher! LOL!). My brother took a load of his things home; mostly what's left is the
rest of my things (some furniture pieces and lots of boxes!), a few things for my sister, and things for charity. Fortunately for myself and my sibs, the apartment was my parent's 4th one in the last 7 or so years - meaning they had already
shed a lot of things (although this week that's been hard to believe! :) ). This has been emotionally difficult, but not as bad as it could have been.
Today we will load up my son's truck; and this afternoon Jimmy will get here with a small trailer to also load up. Right now, I'm not sure about when we're heading home. The plan is for tonight - but - if the weather gets too bad, we could
wait until in the morning. Of course, once home, it all has to be off-loaded (volunteers welcome! LOL!).
For now - I will go enjoy some time with my grandchildren! :)

Good Morning! Friday May 28, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! Well, ok, I can't actually "see" it from here, except tiny peeks through the blinds. But I see blue sky, and hear birds, and that makes it a lovely day.
It's supposed to be upper 80s with possible afternoon storms ... which means planning around that.
Yesterday we got quite a lot of organizing and packing done. Nearly everything in the apartment is sorted and packed one way or another. My sister went home with a VERY loaded truck;
hopefully today will be for organizing and packing what's left.
There's a lot of things to be taken out, and hopefully afternoon rain won't make that a problem.
Last night, after such a busy day, we ate (yummy!!) left overs from the night before, and struggled to stay awake for our "regular" shows.
Tonight my family will get here (not quite sure who yet, depends on some towing trailer issues), so tomorrow will be even busier! :)

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning; although way too early! LOL! I'm getting ready to leave for a few days, and have to make an early start. It's going to be a warm and cloudy day ... maybe showers, maybe not. I haven't heard a forecast for the area of the state I'll be in, but probably not a whole lot different.
Yesterday I finished the "great kitchen floor project"!! Wow, it's a really BIG floor! I got a few other things done, but not what I hoped. Oh well, it'll be waiting when I get home, probably Saturday. :)

Good Morning! Tuesday May 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still cloudy, and I think it might be all day; and maybe even the rest of the week. There are possibilities of showers, but it seems most of the rain is gone. Today will be warm again, close to 80. Yesterday it rained off and on most of the day ... the nice gentle kind of rain that soaks in. My yard is sooo happy! Some parts of it are too happy ... plants are taking over that need to be thinned out! LOL!
Due to an unexpected change of plans, today will be very busy. I have a block of time in which I hope to finish the "great kitchen floor project"; plus finishing the vacuuming, catch up laundry, and pack. I'll be going out of town, but will have my computer and hope to keep up with the newsletters. Today will also be for watering inside plants (they get jealous you know! LOL!), and some general prep work before leaving for several days.
Tonight, of course, is the Top 2, their last chance. I do hope I get to see the finale tomorrow night!!! :)

Good Morning! Monday May 24, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still cloudy, so it looks like everything is going to get a thorough soaking before this weather system moves on. Today will be mid 70s, and with a good chance of showers and storms in the afternoon. We had some strong storms move through fairly late in the evening yesterday - fortunately, after we were home from our trip (though we did come through some showers on the way). It knocked the satelite dish out for quite a while (not that that is unusual! LOL!); but I had already gotten unloaded, unpacked, and laundry done. So, time to read! :)
Today will be SO busy. I have to go in to work for a mandatory insurance meeting; then I'm off for a (too quick) visit to a friend. Then I have a few other errands to run, and come home to finish cleaning. Oh wait, first I have to "fix" my vacuum. Bother! LOL! But by tonight I hope to have a large area totally decluttered and cleaned, so tomorrow I can move on to another area!

Good Morning! Saturday May 22, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still overcast; apparently we're in for several days of cloud cover, but only hit-or-miss showers. That's ok too, makes it seem cooler when working in the yard. Forecast for today is upper 70s, which should be fairly comfortable. I think we will go on and water, since the "hit-or-miss" variety of showers seem to mostly "miss"! :)
I didn't get much done last night, but did tackle a bit of clutter. This morning I've started off getting laundry going. I'm going to tackle a small bit of kitchen floor while I have the house "to myself" (he's sleeping! LOL!) Later I have errands to run, and things to plant. Late this afternoon we'll be going to visit son & family. He's getting ready to go to KS for a training trip and will be gone at least 30 and maybe up to 60 days. We're going to get a quick visit in first (and hopefully, he'll "fix" my ipod and my camera! LOL!!)

Good Morning! Friday May 21, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. There's an early morning mist that hasn't quite finished disapating, making everything in the "way back" of the yard look like it's through a sheer veil. It's eerie and pretty. Today will be warmer again, mid 80s, and probably mostly sunny. Back to watering for sure! This weekend I really need to finish getting things planted. My bosses gave me 2 new plants yesterday ... one is a wonderful gardenia, which needs to be planted. (the other is a miniature rose, which will stay in a pot for awhile). And, lots of other things still waiting.
Last night I did get some of the decluttering done. I managed to take several trips upstairs. Soon, I'm going to have to re-organize that upstairs room! LOL! Tonight I hope to tackle just a bit more clutter, and start getting laundry caught up again.

Good Morning! Thursday May 20, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The forecast is for today to start out cloudy; but though it's a bit grayish, it's much brighter than the last few mornings. We haven't gotten any more rain, but I'm still happy for what we got. By this weekend I'll be watering again. Today will be upper 70s to low 80s, which is - surprisingly - near "normal"! LOL!
Last night after work we went out to my sister's house to beg some goldfish for a friend. (if I had realized how depleted her supply was, we wouldn't have gone!). The fish are (temporarily) residing in their own private jacuzzi! :) On the way home we stopped to eat, and brought home leftovers (cannolli for breakfast! Yum!). I got home in time to see (most of) the results show; and to see that I predicted right again. Unless he does something awful next week, I'm inclined to think Lee will win. But my original 3 picks coming in 4th, 3rd, and 2nd (maybe) is not bad! LOL!

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! We didn't get much more rain yesterday, but still might today. It will be low 70s, mostly cloudy until later afternoon when it might start to clear a bit. I'm very happy for it to be cooler, and for whatever rain we get.
Last night I got laundry done and put away, and a tablecloth hemmed (and put on the table). I wasn't able to work on my floor scrubbing project - I have realized that will simply have to wait until there's no one else in the house - or at least no one awake! LOL!
I watched AI of course; and I believe another of my original 3 picks will go home tonight. However, 3rd place is not a bad place to be!! Lee was not one of my picks, but I was very impressed. I think the final will be between Crystal and Lee - will find out tonight.
Note: for those of you who do not follow AI ... sorry ... one more week and then you won't hear about it again until January! LOL!

Tablecloth

Last weekend my friend and I were browsing an "upscale" flea market. I love vintage tablecloths, and several caught my eye. They were all priced at $25, and I passed. Then this really pretty one turned up. It was labeled "tablecloth 64 x 72" .. for $12.00. Well, I snagged it.
At home, while looking for co-ordinating dishes, my friend was checking out the tablecloth ... and realized something funny. One edge had a plastic liner and button holes .... it wasn't a tablecloth at all, but a shower curtain!! LOL!!
So, I cut off each long edge (to make them equal), and hemmed it ... and now it really is a lovely tablecloth! :)

Idol Watching, Top 3

Unfortunately, once again, I missed a show this season.

First: Casey, "OK, It's All Right With Me" (his choice). He has always been one of my top 3 picks, but I don't really like this very much.
Judges didn't like very much.

Second: Crystal, "Come To My Window" (her choice). She is still my top favorite (especially now that Michael is gone). There just isn't anything she can't do. I do wish she'd leave off the harmonica.
Judges didn't think it was best choice but liked her anyway.

Third: Lee, "Simple Man" (his choice). He was not one of my picks, but he's growing on me. This was good, and I think he has a real shot (depending on what the next round of songs brings).
Judges believe he is "in it to win it".

Round one goes to Lee.

Fourth: Casey, "Daughters" (Randy and Kara pick). Oh, my, yes! SO much better, brings me to tears. I will buy this video!! (Love me some itunes!).
Judges really liked this, good song for his voice.

Fifth: Crystal, "Maybe I'm Amazed" (Ellen's pick). This girl is just phenominal. Lee will be hard pressed to top this.
Judges loved it, she is "in it to win it".

Sixth: Lee, "Hallelujah" (Simon's pick). Absolutely beautiful! (for me, this is in a class with Jason!)
Judges loved it. 'nuff said.

Sadly, I believe Casey will be 3rd place and out this week. With tonight's show, Lee is (I believe) in first place, with Crystal a close second.

Good Morning! Tuesday May 18, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It rained all night again!! Everything has been getting a good steady soaking (and not sudden torrential downpurs), and the yard and garden is greening up nicely. There are still a lot of things that need to be planted or transplanted, but hopefully by the end of the week we'll get that done. It would be great if we could get everything "settled" in place, and for the summer only have to water & weed. Today will be upper 70s, and maybe more rain; maybe even afternoon storms. So, today will not be planting - but it won't be watering either! LOL!
Last night I went by the grocery store on the way home. Sadly, I didn't get anything else done. By 9:00 (didn't even watch all of dancing) I was wrapped up in my quilt and going to sleep! :) Lots of tired catching up I guess. Hopefully tonight I will get another patch or two done on the floor; and some laundry. And, maybe, some sewing while watching the Top 3!! Two of my 3 favorites are still there. :)

Good Morning! Monday May 17, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It's cool and gray and WET outside! After a cloudy day yesterday, in the late evening storms began moving through; we ended up with rain most of the night. YAY! Just looking out the window I see new flowers blooming, and they're all dancing with joy. It will be cloudy and low 70s today, maybe rain off and on all day. Everything has been so dry, and this is so welcome!!
I ended up spending all day yesterday on inside jobs. Some outside things are still waiting (they may be easier now with the ground soaked); but no watering! :) I started cleaning my kitchen floor (yuck!); and also got most of the "stuff" cleared out of the guest room so I can put a bed in it. I even managed to work on a few little sewing projects. Too bad I have to stop all this productivity and go to work! LOL! Tonight I'll work on the kitchen floor some more (doing it in small sections at a time), and hopefully do more sewing while watching dancing.

Good Morning! Sunday May 16, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Today will be "slightly" cooler than yesterday - only upper 80s. The forecast is for partly cloudy with, once again, those chances of afternoon storms. It's "milky" looking out, but still bright. We didn't get any rain yesterday, and it was so hot we didn't get much done outside, other than watering. There will probably be a lot more watering today!
We did run a few errands, but it was even hot doing that. I think I heard on the weather one night it's the hottest May we've had in over 50 years! There is still a lot of stuff to be planted (my sister-in-law gave me a few more! yikes!)
I think --maybe-- today I may try to run over to my sister's to beg a couple of fish for a friend's pond. And, water some more. And, perhaps in the evening if it's cooler, get some things planted.
I am SO not ready to go back to work tomorrow! LOL!

Good Morning! Saturday May 15, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. I thnk there are - again - possibilities of afternoon storms; but now it's clear and bright, and breezy. It will be yet another warm day, low 90s - so far we broken records of over 50 years with the high temps!
Yesterday I managed to get laundry caught up, the car unloaded and everything unpacked (even boxes of odds and ends brought home). I also finished clearing clutter from the living and dining rooms. Now I just have to do the rest of the house! LOL!
Today will be a lot of outside jobs. I have a flower that is trying to take over the pond garden, so will be ruthlessly thinned out. And there's always watering and weeding to do. I think we still have a few things that need to be divided and/or planted.

Good Morning! Friday May 14, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. Although the last few days have been very cloudy, and some places had lots of rain, it doesn't look like much here at home. It looks a bit overcast still, but very bright. It's supposed to go to lower 90s today, and maybe some afternoon showers (I hope).
This has been a very long week, and I thank all of you for staying with me here. It may take awhile for things to be back to "normal" (or as close as they every will). We got home close to 10:00 last night. It was a long and tiring drive; but we did get to visit some friends from where we lived 18 years ago! That was nice.
Today I'm trying to get unpacked, laundry caught up, plants watered, and in general get things (and myself!) pulled together.

Good Morning! Friday May 7, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and going up to lower 90s again today. Last night lots of little showers and storms moved across the state, but none of them came near my house again. Everything will get watered today, even though there is a "chance" of rain tomorrow.
Last night didn't go quite as I thought, but it's ok. I was a little later getting home (quick grocery stop), and found Jimmy had been out and about running errands too. So, we decided to go to a small local restaurant. It was very good, just plain "home-cooking", buffet style. Our neighbor is a cook there; and when we went to pay, found to our surprise our meal was "taken care of"! What a lovely surprise.
We got home in time for my shows ... none of which were reruns. So, a lazy night and very little decluttering got done. There's always tonight! :)

Good Morning! Thursday May 6, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's starting out cloudy, and just a hint of fog; but that will probably all quickly burn off. It's going to the low 90s today ... much too hot for early May! What a strange year this is turning out to be. And, while some people have been getting rain every day, at my house not a drop. Watering time!!
I made a lot of progress on my decluttering last night. While there is still a lot to go, I'm actually seeing a few bare spots on a table that was covered! :) My goal for tonight is to copletely empty the card table and put it away.
I was amazed at the AI result show, not at all what I expected. My original 3 favorites are all still hanging in there! Tonight, I wonder if there are new shows or reruns .. that might determine how much cleaning I get done! LOL!

Good Morning! Wednesday May 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning ... I think. Somewhere outside of the thick blanket of fog that is all I can see out my window! LOL! Once the fog burns off, though it will go to nearly 90, sunny and less humid. Again, we didn't get rain yesterday, so today things need to be watered.
I got my sewing table cleared off last night while watching AI. Of course, now I have to clean off the card table in the living room where I put everything! LOL! But, it will go from there to "proper" homes ... or trash! I'm really hoping to control the clutter. Eventually. :) I was disappointed last night ... I do think one of my 3 favorites will go home tonight.
I will work on the clutter issue ... and maybe sneak in some pinning on a project ... while watching the results show tonight.

Idol Watching, Top 5

Tonight's theme, music of Frank Sinatra. ...Huge sigh... Mentored by Harry Connick Jr.

First: Aaron, "Fly Me To The Moon". He has a good voice, and this was a nice arrangement, but not "great" to me.
Judges: Randy: really good job. Ellen: really pulled it off. Kara: good; not as strong as last week. Simon: agrees with Kara; he was a mouse to Frank's lion. but, people like him.

Second: Casey, "Blue Skies". The man has a lovely voice! He is still Way up there in my favorites. I liked his take on this. And liked his hair out of his face!
Judges: Randy: worst ever, pitchy; out of your element. Ellen: felt stiff, not "cool" and effortless. Kara: took too long to warm up; didn't like the vibrato. Simon: he wasn't fantastic; seemed embarrassed and awkward.

Third: Crystal, "Summer Wind". She is just phenominal. That's all there is to it .. she gives her own personal feel to this; and yet ... doesn't lose the FS vibe. I just love her! Her hair looks better tonight too.
Judges: Randy: ok but a little sleepy. Ellen: wanted her to loosen up; very impressive. Kara: kind of liked it; liked her phrasing. Simon: felt a little indulgent; first part too "jazzy". not one of her strongest performances.

Fourth: Mike, "The Way You Look Tonight". This is one of my favorite songs, and to me his does it justice. What a beautiful voice! Listening to him is like being wrapped in a big hug.
Judges: Randy: in it to win it! Ellen: most comfortable on stage, very smooth. Kara: found the drama in the song, did everything right but didn't loose himself. Simon: everything worked, fantastic.

Fifth: Lee, "That's Life". He's not my favorite, but I do think he did a good job on this.
Judges: Randy: loved it. Ellen: if this was the last night, he would have won. Kara: he needs confidence, he can win. Simon: showed more personality and confidence, gave 110%, best performance of the night.

Sadly, I think Casey going home this week; probably Aaron alson in the bottom 3 ... this week maybe also Crystal, but only because Mike and Lee were SO good.

Good Morning! Tuesday May 4, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. We didn't get rain yesterday, but still might today. Right now it's cloudy and humid; by this afternoon it will be mid 80s, but as the clouds move out it will be less humid. I pray for the people in TN ... and still hope some rain gets here.
Yesterday seemed a longer than usual Monday ... too bad I don't get paid that way! LOL! I went to the PO at lunch time to mail a birthday card; and to the grocery store after work. I had just about enough energy left to watch Dancing! LOL! Oh, and I did manage to put up yesterday's laundry.
Tonight I will work on finishing putting things away in new homes, getting rid of clutter, and clearing off (yet again) my sewing table! I can do those things while I watch the Top 5 sing ... so afraid one of my 3 favorites may not last another week; but I'm happy they made it as far as top 5 anyway. :)

Good Morning! Monday May 3, 2010

Good morning! It is a beautiful morning! After a very hot weekend (it was still in the mid 90s yesterday evening), we have a "cool front" coming through. Today will "only" be lower 80s; and apparently cloudy. There's a chance of showers by this afternoon ... and I've increased the chances drastically by watering outside! LOL!
Back to work after a busy but nice weekend. Friday evening we went to the church play. Saturday my 12 year old granddaughter had a birthday party ... all I can say is, her parents are very brave! LOL!! And, I've heard enough "Guitar Hero" for awhile. :)
We got home late afternoon, and I managed to get the car unloaded, the suitcase unpacked, and laundry done. Tonight I'll be playing "catch-up" with all the other undone stuff, while watching Dancing!
