Tonight's theme, music of Frank Sinatra. ...Huge sigh... Mentored by Harry Connick Jr.
First: Aaron, "Fly Me To The Moon". He has a good voice, and this was a nice arrangement, but not "great" to me.
Judges: Randy: really good job. Ellen: really pulled it off. Kara: good; not as strong as last week. Simon: agrees with Kara; he was a mouse to Frank's lion. but, people like him.
Second: Casey, "Blue Skies". The man has a lovely voice! He is still Way up there in my favorites. I liked his take on this. And liked his hair out of his face!
Judges: Randy: worst ever, pitchy; out of your element. Ellen: felt stiff, not "cool" and effortless. Kara: took too long to warm up; didn't like the vibrato. Simon: he wasn't fantastic; seemed embarrassed and awkward.
Third: Crystal, "Summer Wind". She is just phenominal. That's all there is to it .. she gives her own personal feel to this; and yet ... doesn't lose the FS vibe. I just love her! Her hair looks better tonight too.
Judges: Randy: ok but a little sleepy. Ellen: wanted her to loosen up; very impressive. Kara: kind of liked it; liked her phrasing. Simon: felt a little indulgent; first part too "jazzy". not one of her strongest performances.
Fourth: Mike, "The Way You Look Tonight". This is one of my favorite songs, and to me his does it justice. What a beautiful voice! Listening to him is like being wrapped in a big hug.
Judges: Randy: in it to win it! Ellen: most comfortable on stage, very smooth. Kara: found the drama in the song, did everything right but didn't loose himself. Simon: everything worked, fantastic.
Fifth: Lee, "That's Life". He's not my favorite, but I do think he did a good job on this.
Judges: Randy: loved it. Ellen: if this was the last night, he would have won. Kara: he needs confidence, he can win. Simon: showed more personality and confidence, gave 110%, best performance of the night.
Sadly, I think Casey going home this week; probably Aaron alson in the bottom 3 ... this week maybe also Crystal, but only because Mike and Lee were SO good.
