Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun is back out, and it will go to mid 50s today. We didn't get any rain - or even drizzle - yesterday, and there's a lot of snow left. I think most of it will be gone today (except the very shady areas).
Yesterday: I worked a half day, and left feeling good that I accomplished finishing the reports I went in to do. I met a dear friend for lunch, and then an excursion to the quilt store. Drooling over gorgeous fabrics would not be bad at all - if I could learn to not give in to the temptation! LOL! I did a bit of straightening at home, and then friends came over for supper (left overs) and our gift exchange. Also some friends from work came by to see the decorations, and we had a nice visit. It turned out to be a very friendly day! :)
Today: I know at some point I need to go to town. But right this minute, I actually have no set plan until tonight. I thought my niece was coming to visit, but something came up. This evening we're going to a near by town to see a Pickle Drop, and will probably go eat somewhere with DS and his family. We'll be home in time to watch the local Acorn Drop, and also see the Big Ball Drop in New York. Lot of Dropping going on tonight! LOL!
If you are going out to celebrate "First Night", please be careful, and be safe!

Good Morning! Thursday December 30, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's just starting to be daylight, but doesn't look like we'll see much sun today. It's startling to look out and still see so much snow! However, it should be in the upper 40s, maybe even low 50s, with chance of sprinkles. That will probably melt away a lot more snow - but there's still an awful lot there, and even still some icy places on a few roads.
Yesterday: I had a wonderful day. I got the grocery shopping done, and managed to come up with a lovely meal without cooking anything but eggs (which I totally mangled and ended up with odd lumpy deviled eggs. Oh well. LOL!). I got the laundry caught up, most of the house decluttered, and a few hot-spots worked on. My DS & his family came for the evening (and brought me an NC State nutcracker! YAY!) and we had a lovely visit, plus rode down to see the Christmas lights (and ride the train - COLD!!) one more time. And on top of all that, my brothers, sister, and in-laws --all of whom are currently in TX-- called and sang to me. It was a great day! :)
Today: I work half a day today ... it sure was hard to get up early! LOL! I'm meeting a friend for lunch, and then perhaps a bit of shopping (me? shopping? LOL!). Later some friends are (maybe) coming over this evening for a belated gift exchange.
Today: "Oh My! Day" ... "Falling Needles Family Fest Day".

Good Morning! Wednesday December 29, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and exceptionally bright with the sun shining on all that snow! It's to go to the low 50s today, so a lot of the snow will be gone; there's so much of it, so at least the shadier areas will stay snowy for a few more days.
Yesterday: My morning appointment didn't turn out to be what it was supposed to; but I did get a massage and a hair trim. I took care of some bank business, and then went shopping! I had to check out those after-Christmas sales you know! :) I found a few bargains, but over all didn't get much for next year. I did get a good buy on some utility shelving. Yay! Last night we went to our local favorite restaurant - no dishes! :)
Today: In just a little while I'm going to make a quick run to the grocery store. Later today DS & his family will come for a visit. We'll probably have an early dinner so they can get home again. Oh, and (hopefully) I'll actually get some laundry done! LOL!

Good Morning! Tuesday December 28, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The sun is shining, and the ground is still well covered with snow. It's just gorgeous - especially since most of the roads are clear! :) Today will be warmer, low 40s, and less windy. Sadly, the lovely snow will be gone in a few days.
Yesterday: We finally headed out for home in the early afternoon, and did not have any trouble at all. The only places there was any ice or snow was a shady area of our own road when we were nearly home. I got the car unloaded, and got unpacked. But, I confess, nothing else ... laundry still awaits! Last night DH's son came over, and we (finally! LOL!) opened gifts. I was given some really nice things!! (DH gave me jewelry, candy, and flowers, and a few other things - what more can a girl ask for? LOL!!)
Today: I have a hair appointment, and after that I will try to check out some of the after-Christmas sales. I also *plan* to get that laundry done, and a little bit of general straightening. It was nice that I managed to leave the house fairly neat! :)
Today: "Childermas/Holy Innocents Day" ... "Pledge of Allegiance Day" ... "Admission Day (Iowa)".
Quotes of the Day:
"There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes."

Good Morning! Monday December 27, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. I don't know how much snow is here, at least several inches. Now the storm has moved on, and the sun is bright on the snow. It's truly quite beautiful to look at; but will barely get above freezing today, so quite cold.
Yesterday: Because the snow kept up until dark, we ended up not even trying to go home. Instead we had another lazy day of visiting ... napping, snacking, playing games, watching movies.
Today: We will head out to go home later this morning. I definitely want to be home before it's late enough for the sun to be an issue since we're going west. For the moment, however, I'm listening to a strange "chorus" comprised of snoring, wind thumping something against the house, bird singing merrily, and little doggie toenails clicking across the floor! LOL! Whatever else happens today will depend on how soon we get off and how long it takes to get home. :)
Today: "National Fruitcake Forever Day" ... "Visit the Zoo Day".
Quotes of the Day:
"Misquotations are the only quotations that are never misquoted."
-- Hesketh Pearson
"Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it happens."

Good Morning! Sunday December 26, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning! We woke up to SNOW! Not just a dusting or "trace" ... lots and lots of snow, and still coming down hard. The kids are ecstatic. DH and I will have to head home this afternoon (well, that's the plan anyway! LOL!). We'll see how the roads are ... this morning everything has been cancelled. But I expect the "major" roads really won't be all that bad. We'll find out later.
Yesterday: We had a perfectly lovely Christmas Day. After all the early morning excitement calmed down, it was a surprisingly quiet day. We mostly napped, snacked, and watched Christmas movies all day. Late in the day we had a re-run dinner (smart to have the big dinner on Christmas Eve ... then on the Day, no cooking, just warming!). Late in the evening (waiting to see if it would start snowing) we played several rounds of Banagrams.
Today: I woke up and looked outside around 3:30 am ... it was pouring rain. I went back to sleep ... and woke up around 10:00 (extraordinarily late for me ... but I had an extra quilt, and was so cozy and warm! LOL!) ... and there are several inches and still coming. I don't know what we'll do this morning. After a shower, I'll get all of our stuff packed back up, and we'll see how it goes. I sort of really want to get home ... all of *my* presents are there waiting! heehee.
I hope you are all having a wonderful, warm, and safe holiday weekend.
There are 364 days until Christmas! :)
Today is "Kwanzaa Begins (12/26/10-01/01/11)" ... "National Thank You Note Day" ... "National Whiner's Day" ... "Saint Stephan's Day" ... "Second Day of Christmas" ... "Boxing Day (UK,Can)" ... Good Morning! Merry Christmas! Saturday, December 25, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It's still bright and sunny, even though we're under a winter storm warning. They're saying we'll have flurries later today, and snow tomorrow. It's cold enough, so we'll see!
Yesterday: It was a lovely, relaxing day. We sat around doing not much of anything all morning, and then watched "It's A Wonderful Life". I did some last minute shopping with DS. Then we had the MOST wonderful dinner, turkey with all the trimmings. After dinner we went for a "jingle bell pajama ride" (which has evolved since the grands were quite young). We rode around looking at some beautiful lights while drinking hot chocolate.
Today: The kids were up long before 7:00, and almost beside themselves with excitement. They got their heart's desires this year. :) Now the mess is (mostly) cleared away, and a french toast casserole is in the oven (and smelling quite yummy!!). DS is "playing" with his new (red!) food processor; DIL is picking up trash, and trying to keep everyone sane; DH has gone back to bed. We will watch more movies, eat lots of junk food as well as a great dinner (which is already cooked, so no extra work today!), and wait for the snow! :)
Merry Christmas!!!
Today is "Christmas Day" ... "Birth of Jesus Christ" ... "A'phabet Day" ... "Constitution Day (Taiwan)".

Everyone have a Great Saturday and a very Merry Christmas!

Good Morning! Friday December 24, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright, and will be mid to upper 40s today. The "S" word is still in the forecast for tomorrow and Sunday ... but seems they're now saying less of it. Less is ok, but just a little would be nice. :)
Yesterday: It was frustrating trying to get things done, and a few things kept coming up that changed the plans. However, in the end, I got everything we needed loaded in the car, and we actually left "on time". The traffic wasn't bad, so the drive here was calm. We got here in time to have a relaxing evening with family. :)
Today: Even though I was first one up, almost everyone is up now and busy. The kitchen is small, and my DS and DIL are excellent cooks ... so I'm staying out of the way! LOL! I don't have any idea what is planned for today (other than a big dinner late afternoon) ... but now that we're here, we'll just go along with whatever. :) It's good to spend holidays (or any other time for that matter!) with family. I do wish there was a way to also spend it with my sister and brothers ... but that can't happen this year. I'm happy to be with grandchildren! :)
Christmas Day is tomorrow!!!
Today is "Christmas Eve" ... "Independence Day (Libya)".
Quotes of the Day:
"The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for."

Good Morning! Thursday December 23, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The clouds have gone, the sun is bright, and it will be mid 40s today. We need to enjoy this, because it won't last! LOL! They're still saying it ... can it be?? We *might* get a **gasp** white Christmas!! If so, it'll be the first one since 1947! Wow!
Yesterday: While nothing ever goes completely as planned, yesterday was pretty close. I had a big chunk of time to get things done ... and I really did get a lot of them done! The house is clean and decorated; and if there are still a few things laying around where they don't belong, it doesn't really matter too much.
Today: All I need to do today is finish packing, wrap one more gift, and take trash to the dump. Then we'll be on our way! Yay! :)

Good Morning! Wednesday December 22, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still gray, and looks like we won't see the sun again until tomorrow. At least there is only a small chance of sprinkles today. They still haven't taken the "S" word out of the forecast for Saturday.
Yesterday: As usual, the day didn't turn out like I expected, but it was a good day. I went to a friend's house and we made candy; and then we came back here and finished decorating trees. Well, ok, they're not "finished" .. but they'll do. :)
Today: The shopping expedition had to be put off until today; and I will have to hustle to get done the things that I need to finish. But, I'll manage to get to what's important, and the rest can wait. :)
Christmas is 3 days from today!!!
Today: oddly enough, I could find no "celebrations" for today except that Capricorn begins.

Good Morning! Tuesday December 21, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's gray and chilly out now, but should get to the upper 40s today. That's "warm" compared to where we've been! LOL! It seems like the clouds will hang around awhile, but the only precipitation predicted isn't until Saturday. That "S" word is still there, but unlikely to be near the coast where I'll be.
Yesterday: It was a bit frustrating ... silly Maggie wanted to "help" me make cookies. But I got some made anyway; and might even get one more batch made today. I also finished the chair covers, and delivered them. It was lovely to get to have a (brief) visit with my sister, and 2 nieces (and saw the 3rd niece Sunday evening). The chair covers are quite festive ... maybe next year I'll make some for my house! :) We ran a few quick errands while out, and stopped at a new (to us) Italian restaurant for dinner.
Today: This morning I'm going to my friend's house and we'll make candy together (without any feline help!!). This afternoon, hopefully, she is going with DH to "help" him do some Christmas shopping. While they're gone, I *plan* to finish cleaning the house, and add some decorations to some of the trees. :) Since things rarely go as planned, it'll be interesting to see how this day goes! LOL!
Christmas is 4 days from today!!!

Good Morning! Monday December 20, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. All the clouds seem to be gone for now, and it will be a bright clear day, mid 40s or so. The forecast for the rest of the week is up and down a lot ...for the first time in many many years, there's even the mention of the "S" word on Saturday!
Yesterday: As usual, I didn't get nearly as much done as I hoped; but I got started. We didn't end up making all that many cookies (several unexpected delays); but I will make up for that this morning. At least, I hope so! LOL! I did get more decluttering done, and more tree decorating was done.
Today: I will bake more cookies, finish wrapping a few more gifts, and finish the sewing project. I hope to deliver some things this evening (also a chance to ride around and see lights! LOL!)

Good Morning! Sunday December 19, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still a bit overcast; but the sky is pale and "milky", not dark and heavy. Yesterday was only rain here; we did see a flake or two in Raleigh, but mostly sleet and rain. I missed the weather update last night: the one I have says "snow" for today ... but I don't think so! It will be upper 30s, and the clouds partly clearing later on.
Yesterday: . I managed to get a fair bit of decluttering done, and even got a start on decorating a tree. Then I went with my DIL and DGD to the Straight No Chaser concert. They are really fantastically talented young men (for anyone who doesn't happen to know - they are a group of 10 young men who sing a cappella (I think that's the correct spelling), who take their singing very seriously ... but not themselves!). I totally enjoyed the concert. And as a bonus, we were given permission (usually strickly against the rules in the concert hall) to take all the videos and pictures we wanted! So, I have several videos so I can enjoy them again, and share! We made one quick shopping trip on the way home; and I did very little last night.
Today: I'm "regrouping". The only decorating not done are some trees, and that will get done this afternoon. A few things are still not done outside, but the weather has kept that from getting done, and still is. I still have sewing to finish, and gifts to wrap. And, this afternoon, the plan is (hopefully) to make cookies! Lots and lots of cookies! :)
Christmas is 6 days from today!!!

Everyone have a Great Sunday!

Good Morning! Saturday December 18, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's not light yet, and probably won't be much - still cloudy. It will be low 40s, which isn't warm but at least above freezing! Another system is moving in; but the weather gurus can't seem to get a handle on this one. It will probably rain by tonight. It *could* snow. Seems to be a guessing game! LOL!
Yesterday: After work I had to pick up a package at Wal-Mart, and did a bit more shopping. I'm almost completely done ... much later than I hoped, but I keep having trouble making up my mind. :) I dug in and got quite a lot of decluttering done at home - though, as always, not as much as I hoped. All of the trees are in place now, though not finished yet.
Today: I'm trying to get a few things done this morning, and then I get to take the rest of the day "off". My Christmas/birthday present from my DS & DDIL is a "Straight No Chaser" concert (if you don't know who they are, search YouTube!!). It will be "girl's day out" ... DDIL, DGD and myself .... lunch, concert, shopping. The guys are going out for wings and who knows what else! LOL!

Good Morning! Friday December 17, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still overcast, and we may get some "left over" drizzle this morning. By this afternoon it should start clearing a bit, and get to the mid 40s. Yesterday morning's trace of snow quickly disappeared, and everything is just wet.
Yesterday: After work I delivered some fruit, and then made a real effort to accomplish some of my "to-do" list. I did manage to mark several things off; and considering it's a "comprehensive" list (meant to span about a week), it's a fair start. I just keep telling myself that! LOL!
Today: This is my last day at work before Christmas. The company is giving the employees a dinner today; so I expect by this afternoon I won't be in the proper frame of mind to accomplish much! LOL!
Christmas is 8 days from today!!!

Good Morning! Thursday December 16, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning ... if you like snow! LOL! At my house we only got a very light "dusting"; and it is now changing over to icy rain. It will "warm up" by afternoon to become just rain (and will be icy again tonight).
Yesterday: I managed one important errand on my lunch hour, and groceries after work. I got some more decluttering done, and one gift wrapped. Not as productive as I hoped; but maybe I'll do better tonight.
Today: I'm not even trying to get to work "on time", but will be heading in shortly. If it appears the roads are freezing again by late afternoon, I may leave early ... which would give me more time to finish things at home! :)

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's just beginning to be daylight ... the sky is still dark, but over the tree line is pale gold. It will be "warmer" today, all the way up to upper 30s! :) Clouds will start coming in tonight, and *maybe* the "S" word - again! - tomorrow.
Yesterday: As usual, I didn't get as much done as I hoped. But, except for a few small items, the Christmas shopping is pretty much done! It took longer than we wanted, but I should have expected that. I did get some cleaning done, and managed to pack up some of the "excess". I'm still deciding on whether or not to add a tree (yes, I have a place for it! LOL!)
Today: It's back to work this morning, the first of 3 days this month. I'm spoiled, I don't want to go! LOL! After work I'll get the groceries I didn't have time (or energy) for yesterday. And tonight, I sew!! Well, and wrap a few more things. :)

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright for today, but very cold and windy. We do get cold, of course, but it's usually not until January or February. Seems a lot of the country is in the grip of this extreme cold spell. I do hope all my friends here are able to keep warm and safe!
Yesterday: We got a later start than I hoped, and left DB's house just after 1:00. We went a "long way" home to go by my DS's house, and visited a little. We also stopped for dinner ... after a brief stop at the grocery store, where I decided I did not care to join the melay that was going on there. The "S" - if we get it - isn't until Thursday; but you would have thought it was any minute! LOL! When we got home I got the car unloaded ... and that's it! It was very nice, however, to come home to more of the decorating done, and 2 doors "unstuck". (thanks to my elf and her gnome! heehee)
Today: I've got laundry going, and a package wrapped that needs to go in the mail today. I "plan" (y'all know how that goes! LOL!) to spend the morning getting at least some areas of my house organized. There are still gifts waiting to be wrapped (more came in the mail while I was gone). I hope to bring the last tree down, and only that and one very small one remain to be decorated. This afternoon I'm going to brave the cold and try to finish up shopping.
Today is "Halcyon Day (12/14-28)" ... "Admission Day (Alabama)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Remember that as a teenager you are at the last stage of your life when you will be happy to hear that the phone is for you."

Good Morning! Monday December 13, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, but very very cold. I think today is actually forecast to be mostly cloudy; but for the moment at least, they're not here.
Yesterday: We had a lovely day. Everyone slept late and was lazy all morning. In the afternoon we rode to Old Salem, and I got to go into a couple of shops. When we got back here, my brother grilled a fabulous dinner for us. After dinner he rode us around to see Christmas lights ... in the snow!! It was just beautiful! Then we watched a cute (Disney) movie.
Today: We have to head home today. It looks like a lot of last night's snow has blown away (very windy!). I haven't gone out yet, but from the window it doesn't look like the roads are too bad. It'll be late morning, close to noon, before we leave. I hope to make a stop by my sister's house, and be home (and unload the car) before dark. :)
Today is "Republic Day (Malta)" ... "Santa Lucia Day (Sweden)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Good people are good because they've come to wisdom through failure."
-- William Saroyan
"The best way to escape from a problem is to solve it."
-- Alan Saporta

Good Morning! Sunday December 12, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's been raining, though it isn't just now. I think maybe it'll be in the upper 40s today, and the rain end before afternoon.
Yesterday: We had a lovely day. Everyone slept late, so it was afternoon before we even got out to do anything. I rode with DB and DSIL to put a cover on the (30') camper ... that was an interesting project, to say the least! LOL! Then we ran a few errands before heading back here. We had thought to do a candlelight tour of historic Old Salem; but it was sold out. So, change of plans ... we rode to Reidsville (a little over an hour) to tour Chiqua Penn House (not sure I spelled that right). It is fabulous! I hope to get to go again in spring to see the (extensive) gardens! We stopped for pizza on the way back, and then everyone crashed early. :)
Today: This afternoon is supposed to be the Lewisville Christmas parade. It's supposed to stop raining by then, so we may try to watch that. We might ride around to see Old Salem ... wait and see on the getting out anywhere part! LOL! It's so lovely to have the extra time, so we don't have to rush home tonight like we've always had to (and I'm completely ignoring all the unfinished stuff waiting for me at home! LOL!).
Today is "Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe" ... "Poinsettia Day" ... "Constitution Day (Russia)" ... "Guadalupe Day (Mexico)" ... "Neutrality Day (Turkmenistan)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Oh sleep! It is a gentle thing, Beloved from pole to pole"
. -- Samuel Taylor Coleridge
"I appreciate people who are civil, whether they mean it or not. I think: Be civil. Do not cherish your opinion over my feelings. There's a vanity to candor that isn't really worth it. Be kind."
-- Richard Greenberg
"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness."

Good Morning! Saturday December 10, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It's very gray out, but not as cold. I think rain (or worse) may be a possiblity in the next day or so; but temps in the upper 40s or even 50s mean pretty much rain. I don't think we have a lot of "outside" stuff to do, so it doesn't matter too much. :)
Yesterday: We actually got away from the house pretty much on time, and went (3 hours) to my DB/DSIL's house. We got here in time for lunch, and then just sat around relaxing for the afternoon. Last night we had a minor bout of "excitement". We had planned on going to a certain restaurant. We got there and the parking lot was empty, no exterior sign lights. But .. the inside lights were on. My SIL walked up to the door ... which was unlocked ... but not a person inside! Strange!! We checked next door, the manager sent someone over to check it out, and then called the police. We waited until they got there, told them what we saw, and we left. I wonder if there will be something in the papers??? Anyway, we went elsewhere and had the most wonderful wings! And then he took us through the light park to see the displays (hour wait in line to get in! Yikes!). It was a lovely evening.
Today: Everyone slept late, and we're all being lazy. I think we might go out later ... maybe to a historic site, maybe some shopping ... and maybe nothing! LOL! Whatever we do, it will be a nice day, and so relaxing to just forget about all the things undone at home! LOL!
Today is "International Shareware Day" ... "National Day of the Horse" ... "UN International Mountain Day" ... "Anniversary - UNICEF" ... "Admission Day (Indiana)" ... "National Day (Burkina Faso)".

Good Morning! Friday December 10, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's not yet light, but the forecast for today is for upper 40s and mostly sunny. It looks like maybe more rain (maybe even "S"???) might be coming later in the weekend; that's a "wait and see" for sure!
Yesterday: With all the running around I had to do ... pay bills, pick up prescriptions, etc. ... I didn't get nearly as much done at home as I had hoped. Still, it's looking much better. I still have a "hot spot" in the living room I have to figure out what to do with; but I have one room "complete" and Christmasy. LOL!
Today: It's very early because I hope to get an early start traveling. I'm mostly packed, just have some "last minute" stuff to throw in. In just a few hours I plan (you know me and my "plans"! LOL!) to be on the road. :)
Today is "Human Rights Day" ... "National Salesperson's Day" ... "Nobel Peace Prize Day" ... "UN Human Rights Day" ... "Admission Day (Mississippi)" ... "Constitution Day (Thailand)".

Good Morning! Thursday December 9, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. The cold air is (temporarily at least) moving on; today will be mostly sunny, and a bit warmer with low 40s. This has been such a strange year of record highs and lows! Some "normal" will be nice. :)
Yesterday: I played a lot of the "hurry up and wait" game, but in the end I did manage to get a few things accomplished. Some cleaning got done; some laundry, some gift wrapping. Sadly, the "big" tree could not be resurrected (like a horse, it has a broken leg and had to be shot! LOL!). I did some re-arranging, and will make some more changes next week. In the end, I will like the arrangement better anyway. :)
Today: This will be a very busy day. All the errands I didn't finish all week have to be completed; a few gifts have to get final touches; and I really need to get as much as possible cleaning and decorating finished. Tonight I pack .. yay! :)
Today is "Chanukah (Jewish - 8th & final day, ends at sundown)" ... "UN International Anti-Corruption Day" ... "Independence Day (Tanzania)" ... "Republic Day (Tanzania)".

Good Morning! Wednesday December 8, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and sunny again, and will be a tiny bit warmer: mid to upper 30s. Maybe it will even get up to 40! Wow, if the wind would just stop blowing out here, we might even get the last few outside decorations done. :)
Yesterday: It was a busy day for sure. I worked all morning on trying to straighten what I could in the house (lost cause, as my "big" tree committed suicide! LOL!), and worked on some wrapping. In the early afternoon I had an important errand to run, and didn't get back until mid evening. Then a friend and I went to see a Festival of Trees (there must have been at least 3 dozen trees, each one different and unique, all gorgeously decorated. If any of my readers live at all near Smithfield, NC, you really should try to see those trees ... Health Center ... today is the last day!), and then we went shopping for a few "odds and ends" and some groceries. By then I was so tired, I know I forgot things! LOL!
Today: I have one more day of running around doing errands and paying bills. Hopefully on the way home (or just after I get home) I can pick up the things I forgot last night. I guess this afternoon will be spent trying to reconstruct that silly tree! LOL!
Today is "Chanukah (Jewish - 7th day/8th night)" ... "Feast of the Immaculate Conception (Catholic)" ... "Take a New Year's Resolution to Stop Smoking (TANYRSS)" ... "Anniversary - John Lennon " Shot" ... "Constitution Day (Uzbekistan)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
-- Thomas A. Edison
"Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good."
-- Thomas Sowell

Good Morning! Tuesday December 7, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear so far, though may be partly cloudy later. It's very cold; high will only be mid to upper 30s ... and it's quite windy right now.
Yesterday: I had a very busy day, trying to get caught up with things, get unpacked and "settled", and figure out all the things I still need to do! I got laundry done, a minimal amount of straightening, and some errands done. I am so grateful for my "little elf" who just keeps right on decorating for me! :)
Today: I still have some catching up to do, and more errands to run. I still have Christmas shopping to do, and groceries to buy, and gifts to wrap. I'm hoping tonight to get to a Festival of Trees to see all the pretty trees and get more ideas! LOL!
Today is "Chanukah (Jewish - 6th day/7th night)" ... "Pearl Harbor Day" ... "UN International Civil Aviation Day".

Good Morning! Sunday December 5, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear, and perhaps not quite as cold as expected. Last night's moisture is pretty much gone, and it looks to be a lovely wintery day.
Yesterday: We had a fun-filled busy day with a surprise ending. In the morning, my DIL and I went to a craft fair. There were a lot of beautiful and unusual items. Some people are SO creative! :)
We did a little bit of shopping .. some things were very expensive, but we found several nice and unusual items that were very reasonable.
We came home, grabbed a quick lunch, and all (5) of us headed back to town for the parade. It was not big, but nice, and we just had a really good time laughing and waving.
Then we walked through town to some of the lovely shops. A lot were closed by then, but we stopped in a few, and did a little bit more shopping. While we were walking around town, a few snowflakes started drifting down!
As it got dark, we walked over to the waterfront park, where we had a great spot to sit on the steps and watch the flotilla. While the boats were going by, it started really snowing hard.
How totally amazing that was ... I had know it was snowing to the west, nearer home; but we are near the coast! It was so beautiful. Towards the end of the flotilla it began to be more of a rain mix, so we had to head home.
All in all it was a busy and wonderful day!
Today: I had thought I was going home today; but DS would rather take me in the morning before he goes to work. So, I don't know what today will hold. I believe we'll go to their church this morning. Possibly we'll go to some local B & B open houses this afternoon. Or, we might even go to another craft show. Whatever, it'll be fun. :)
Today is "Chanukah (Jewish - 4th day/5th night)" ... "Bathtub Party Day" ... "UN International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development" ... "Anniversary - Montgomery Bus Boycott Begins (Rosa Parks)" ... "Discovery Day (Haiti)" ... "King's Birthday and National Day (Thailand)" ... "Krampuslauf (Austria)".

Good Morning! Saturday December 4, 2010
Good Morning! It's a wonderful morning. The sky looks a bit "milky" right now, and there's a possibility of precipitation by tonight.
What kind is anyone's guess; but I'm guessing frozen rain! :) It's going to be very cold ... feeling Christmasy weather!
Yesterday: I had one more quiet day here alone. I found things to do: washing dishes (not many since we had eaten out), laundry, re-organized my suitcase.
Mostly I played on the computer and watched HGTV (Christmas specials).
Today: We're going to have a full day now. We're going to a craft show, a parade, and tonight the flotilla (boat parade). And who knows what else we might find to do in between! LOL!
Today is "National Dice Day" ... "Saint Barbara's Day".

Good Morning! Friday December 3, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and sunny, and very cold! The forecasters here (2 hours from home) are saying the "s" word for Sunday ..
just "a few stray flakes" .. but I really don't believe that will happen.
Yesterday: I had another quiet day, just me and the dogs and the bird. The dogs slept all day, and then got crazy when everyone else got home! LOL!
Last night we went to the middle school Christmas band concert (my DGD is 1st flute in 7th grade Intermediate Band - I might have mentioned that before? LOL).
I totally enjoyed the whole performance (unlike some rude people, we did not leave early). Afterwards, we went out to a Chinese buffet - yum!!
We got back here and found out one of the dogs had raided my suitcase for something to chew up. Hmmmm.
Today: So far this is another quiet day. I find a few things to do .. fold some laundry, wash a few dishes. Mostly, I just watch TV, read, play with the computer.
If I were at home I'd be finding a lot of things, and sewing - it's kind of hard to do nothing! :) Tonight we're supposed to go on a trolley ride through historic New Bern.
I'm looking forward to that, even though it will be cold!

Everyone have a Great Friday!
just "a few stray flakes" .. but I really don't believe that will happen.

Good Morning! Thursday December 2, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear; the clouds seem to have blown away. It's very cold .. according to the forecast, will be upper 40s at home.
Since I'm nearer the coast right now, it may be a bit higher .. but still very chilly. It's December, it's supposed to be cold! :)
Yesterday: Once I got "settled", it was a very quiet day. I played on the computer, read, watched TV. When everyone got home from work and school .. it was still pretty quiet. :)
The grands had big hugs for grandma ... and then disappeared into their rooms! LOL!
Today: This will be another quiet restful day. The dogs mostly nap until afternoon, and then we'll play the "out-the-door-and-back-in-again" game. I have to be careful that the little one doesn't get under the fence and run away.
I'll find a few things to do around here, and mostly just read and watch TV. Tonight is the school band program, and I'm looking forward to that.
Today is "Chanukah (Jewish - 1st day/2nd night)" ... "Special Education Day" ... "UN International Day for the Abolition of Slavery" ... "National Day (United Arab Emirates)" ... "National Day (Laos)".

Good Morning! Wednesday December 1, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It started off gray and rainy, but it's already working on clearing off. It also started warm, but it's supposed to drop during the day, and be quite chilly by this afternoon.
This is not totally bad, as we need rain; but wow, was there ever a lot of fierce wind last night!
Yesterday: I was really busy, even though it was also mostly cloudy. The rain held off until dark, but it was very bery windy. Still, we got most of the outside decorating done. There are just a few things left that can't be completed in the wind! Last night I got laundry caught up, and packing done.
Today: I got up nice and early, and we (DS & I) left the house by 7:15. I'm now at his house, he's gone to work, the dogs have settled down, and it's peaceful and quiet. Today I will do a few little things around here to help out; work on a scheduling project; and just be generally lazy. :)
Today is "World Aids Day" ... "Day With(out) Art" ... "Bifocals at the Monitor Liberation Day" ... "Chanukah (Jewish - begins at sundown)" ... "Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Annual Lighting" ... "Rosa Parks Day" ... "Special Kids Day" ... "UN World Aids Day" ... "Anniversary - Playboy" ... "Independence Day (Portugal)" ... "National Day (Romania)".
