Good Morning! Merry Christmas! Saturday, December 25, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It's still bright and sunny, even though we're under a winter storm warning. They're saying we'll have flurries later today, and snow tomorrow. It's cold enough, so we'll see!
Yesterday: It was a lovely, relaxing day. We sat around doing not much of anything all morning, and then watched "It's A Wonderful Life". I did some last minute shopping with DS. Then we had the MOST wonderful dinner, turkey with all the trimmings. After dinner we went for a "jingle bell pajama ride" (which has evolved since the grands were quite young). We rode around looking at some beautiful lights while drinking hot chocolate.
Today: The kids were up long before 7:00, and almost beside themselves with excitement. They got their heart's desires this year. :) Now the mess is (mostly) cleared away, and a french toast casserole is in the oven (and smelling quite yummy!!). DS is "playing" with his new (red!) food processor; DIL is picking up trash, and trying to keep everyone sane; DH has gone back to bed. We will watch more movies, eat lots of junk food as well as a great dinner (which is already cooked, so no extra work today!), and wait for the snow! :)
Merry Christmas!!!

Today is "Christmas Day" ... "Birth of Jesus Christ" ... "A'phabet Day" ... "Constitution Day (Taiwan)".

Quotes of the Day:
"Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness."
-- George Sand

"I can't understand it. I can't even understand the people who can understand it."
-- Queen Juliana

"After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say "I want to see the manager."

In 1818, the first known Christmas carol was sung at Oberndorf, Austria. It was "Silent Night, Holy Night," composed by organist Franz Gruber and the Rev. Joseph Mohr.

In 1938, after auditioning hundreds for the role, producer David O. Selznick chose British actress Vivien Leigh to play Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind."
