Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still very dark out, and will be cloudy and rainy all day. Amazing that just a few days ago we were having record-setting highs in the 90s ... and today will only be low 70s! I know some areas are getting so much rain that there are dangerous flooding issues; here, we have to watch for high water on the roads (and in the driveway!). Otherwise we've had no problems, and are so very thankful for the rain!
The downside of the rain, of course, is that it makes me very lazy. And you all know I didn't need any extra help with that! LOL! So, last night ... I watched 2 shows that I love; read enough email to find out who got eliminated from Dancing (no big surprise there); and got to sleep early! But rainy weather is such good sleeping weather ... I still didn't want to get up this morning.
Tonight, I think I might have to make a quick run by the grocery store. I won't be watching TV so much, so hopefully I'll at least get aa bit more sewing done. :)

Good Morning! Tuesday September 28, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still cloudy, but should at least partly clear later today. We might have some morning showers first. Today will be low 80s, breezy, less humid (once the clouds start moving out). Boy did we ever get some much-needed rain! And the powerful heat grip seems to be broken now. There's more rain coming later this week ... we seem to be making up the deficit all at once!
I finally remembered what I meant to do after work yesterday. I went to a local outlet store that offers senior discounts (15%) on Monday. I wanted to get something to wear to the fast approaching family wedding. I'm just no good at decisions! LOL!
I didn't get much done once I got home ... still felt "soggy" around the edges. I watched Dancing (Jennifer is still my favorite, but only by a narrow margin over a few others); and managed - barely - to stay awake for H50.
Tonight is another "good" night. I hope to find a burst or two of energy and get some things done during commercials at least. :)
Today is "National Good Neighbor Day" ... "UN Wold Maritime Day".

Good Morning! Monday September 27, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! It started raining late yesterday afternoon, and hasn't stopped since! Today should be right around 80, a "cool" change from the long stretch of 90s (which seem to be over - but who knows what could happen in October!), cloudy all day with showers and storms. It feels like we're making up a 4 months deficit all at once! One minor "down" side of all the rain, a dead tree fell in our yard. But since the only "casualty" was the clothesline, at least it's no longer something to worry about! LOL!
Yesterday was very busy and fun. We didn't decide until "last minute" ... watching the weather; but went to Raleigh to the Home and Garden Show (and flea market - you know - while we were there!) Even though 99% of what was there was way over our financial capability (and that's not even counting that my house is rented! LOL!), we did get some great garden ideas, and had a lot of fun. We walked so much, I'm still tired ... hmmm ... rainy Monday .... should I take a "sick day"? LOL! (no ... no one else does my work if I don't go in. oh well.)
I think I'm supposed to do something after work; but unless I remember what it is, I'll just be going home. I know I like shows that come on tonight (Dancing and Hawaii Five-O), but hopefully I can get a few chores taken care of before 8:00 ... and work on sewing at least during commercials. :)
Today is "Ancestor Appreciation Day" ... "Family Day - A Day To Eat Dinner With Your Children" ... "Saint Vincent de Paul Feast Day" ... "World Tourism Day" ... "True Cross Day (Ethiopia)".
Quotes of the Day:
"The problem with any unwritten law is that you don't know where to go to erase it."

Good Morning! Sunday September 26, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. As of last night they were saying it would be mid 70s and cloudy today, though the most of the coming rain won't be until late evening. That's OK, as long as we get some! The cooler weather is so overdue and welcome! Maybe now we can have "real" fall (although I generally tend to think of October as "really" fall, so it's still a week off).
Yesterday turned out very nice. My friend came for lunch and a visit, and then we rode over to a quilt shop, and to a local country store. It's too bad it's hard to find time to do it more often; but then, perhaps it wouldn't be as special. Last night I had a lovely long conversation with my son ... which is always special, because it's so rare! LOL!
Today I might go to a Home and Garden show; I don't know for sure yet. It might turn out to be a great day to divide between the sewing machine and a book. :)
Today is "Gold Star Mother's Day" ... "Johnny Appleseed Day" ... "National Good Neighbor Day" ... "Hunting and Fishing Day" ... "Shamu the Whale Day" ... "Walk Like A Zombie Day".

Good Morning! Saturday September 25, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's a bit later than "usual" (but a little early for a Saturday), and brilliant sunlight is flooding in my window, reflecting on the computer, blinding me! LOL!! This will hopefully be our last upper 90s day. The weather is changing, and today will be partly cloudy and humid. There's a chance of showers by late afternoon, though the big change seems to be coming tomorrow. Still, today will be a lovely day although we'll probably set yet another record high temp for the date.
Last night was pretty nearly as I expected .. meaning after I got home with groceries I didn't want to bother with anything else! :) But, I did do a small amount of cleaning, and even some prep work for lunch today.
A friend is coming to visit for lunch, and then I think we're going on a "field trip" to a quilt shop. I have a few things yet to do this morning, but not too much ... except putting things back together after I shut Maggie in the kitchen! LOL! She thinks any flat surface is an invitation for her to knock off what ever is on it. Christmas decorating is going to be interesting! And ... if anyone is interested (like me) ... Christmas is THREE MONTHS from today! Will you be ready? I will. :)
Today is (actually, these are for yesterday since I accidently posted today's yesterday ... that's what happens when you get in a hurry! LOL!) "Hug a Vegetarian Day" ... "Love Note Day" ... "National Punctuation Day" ... "Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving (Pa)" ... "Constitutional Declaration Day (Cambodia)" ... "Heritage Day (South Africa)" ... "Independence Day (Guinea-Bissau)".

Good Morning! Friday September 24, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. There's a bit of mist that will quickly burn off. Today will be mid to upper 90s, sunny, and less humid. It's still a few days before hope of rain. I got almost everything watered last night. If everything can just hang in there a few more days, a break (low 80s!!) is coming.
Last night I did much better than usual. I found a little burst of enthusiasm from somewhere (sure wish I could find it more often! LOL!). Besides the watering, I got 2 loads of laundry completely done, and some sewing progress done. Well, now that I write it down, it doesn't look like all that much. But, 3 of my top favorite shows started a new season last night ... so I got everything done during commercials! LOL!!
Tonight I have to go for groceries after work; and I usually don't get much else done on grocery night. So, hopefully at least I can get to some sewing ... and there are more new shows (and an old favorite moved) tonight to check out. :)

Good Morning! Thursday September 23, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still grayish with just a hint of pink .. but that's just because morning keeps coming later. When the time changes, it will be lighter (but I'll be coming home in the dark!). Today - the first day of fall - will be a record-setting upper 90s, mostly sunny, and humid. I believe we set a record high yesterday; and at least 2 more days of upper 90s coming. We might get rain by Sunday, but I'll still be watering before then.
Last night I was not as busy as I would have liked ... especially since it was not a "good" TV night for me. I did a very little sewing, and even less decluttering (which mostly consisted of chasing the kitten off places she wasn't supposed to be! LOL!). I shut down everything early and got to sleep earlier (although it didn't really count, since I woke up again and watched the news!)
Tonight I plan to at least get laundry caught up ... as usual, on Thursday night and my favorite jeans (for "casual" Friday) are in the laundry basket! :)
Today is "Celebrate Bisexuality Day" ... "Checkers Day" ... "Harvest Moon" ... "Innergize Day" ... "Kingdom Unification (Saudi Arabia)".

Everyone have a Great Thursday!

Good Morning! Wednesday September 22, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's starting out a bit cloudy, but at least some of that will clear. Today will be partly sunny, low to mid 90s, and humid. And, there are at least 3 more days in the 90s coming up. The weather guru (who just loves numbers) gave some statistics last night ... last Feb. was coldest on record; and May, June, July, and August were either hottest or 2nd hottest. Sept. could go either way at this point ... but not much month left, and more 90s to come. Fall is "officially" here, but summer is sure haning on!
Last night I got a little bit of sewing and decluttering done. The new season of NCIS started, so I "worked" during commercials. I don't even know yet who got voted off Dancing (but I know it wasn't JG).
I don't remember what's on tonight. It would be nice if there was one night without something good on! LOL! But I use the TV as a "tranquilizer". Hopefully I'll work on the sewing at least. I'm starting to make a tiny dent in the "to do" pile, so need to keep working on it. I can do something fun for myself when I finish the current overdue project! :)
Today is "American Business Women's Day" ... "Autumnal Equinox" ... "Fall Begins Northern Hemisphere" ... "Dear Diary Day" ... "Elephant Appreciation Day" ... "Hobbit Day" ... "International Day of Radiant Peace" ... "Long Count Day" ... "National Centenarian's Day" ... "Spring Begins Southern Hemisphere" ... "Anniversary - Emancipation Proclamation" ... "Anniversary - Ice Cream Cone Birthday" ... 'Autumnal Equinox Day (Japan)" ... "Independence Day (Mali)" ... "Moon Festival (China)".
Quotes of the Day:

Good Morning! Tuesday September 21, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. There's no mist this morning, but it does seem faintly overcast. The forecast is for mostly sunny, and around 89. It wouldn't take much to reach the "90" mark, which is forecast for the next 4 days at least. We're easily setting a lot of new records. Someone told me they had seen signs that predicted a cold winter. I will wait and see. :)
There's a very very slight chance of rain today ... which means, of course, I need to water tonight.
Last night I found a tiny little burst of energy, and cleaned a ceiling fan, and put up a load of towels. And ... I put a bit of time in on the sewing machine! Yay! New shows started, so I was happy. The new season of DWTS (my favorite, right from the start, is Jennifer Grey); and I like the new Hawaii Tive-0.
Tonight I think the new season of NCIS starts ... so I'm thinking I'll probably miss each week's Dancing results show. Hopefully, this will mean I get more sewing done. And yes ... I need to "get a life"! LOL!
Today is "UN International Day of Peace" ... "UN Opening of General Assembly" ... "World Alzheimer's Day" ... "Independence Day (Armenia)" ... "Independence Day (Belize)" ... "Independence Day (Malta)".
Quotes of the Day:
"We are each responsible for our own life - no other person is or even can be."
-- Oprah Winfrey
"It is dangerous for a national candidate to say things that people might remember."
-- Eugene McCarthy
Today in history:
In 1893, the first successful American-made, gasoline-operated motorcar appeared on the streets of Springfield, Mass. It was designed and built by Charles and Frank Duryea.
In 2001, a telecast by top movie stars and musicians raised more than $500 million for survivors of the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
In 2001, Deep Space 1 flew within 2,200 kms of Comet Borrelly.
In 2003, the spacecraft Galileo approached the fringes of Jupiter's atmosphere and then was directed to destroy itself in a high-speed plunge.

Good Morning! Monday September 20, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's still misty out, and the sky is pale pink and gold. I don't mind that the daylight is coming later now; but I do long for some fall weather! Forecast is for 90ish today, mostly sunny. There are at least 5 days into the 90s predicted in the next 7 days. It looks like we'll make our "90 at 90" record this year; and still no rain in sight. A hot, dry fall, with leaves starting to drop, means being very careful and observant!
Yesterday I ended up running the soaker hose most of the day. Some of the shrubs look like I've already lost them, which would just break my heart; but we'll see if they show any signs of reviving after hours of soaking. I got a load of laundry done, got most of my dusting done (ceiling to floor), baked some bread, and did a bit of decluttering. But more than anything I was lazy again. I don't know how I ever expect to get stuff done around here! LOL!
I'm not sure, but I think this week begins a new season on TV. Since most of my evenings are spent here with my computer, sewing machine, and TV, I do hope there's something "good" on! :)
Today is "International Women's Ecommerce Day" ... "National Woman Road Warrior Day" ... "Anniversary - Rock of Chickamauga" ... "Respect For the Aged Day (Japan)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Once the game is over, the King and the pawn go back in the same box."
-- Italian Proverb
"Drive thy business or it will drive thee."
-- Benjamin Franklin
"My grandfather once told me that there were two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was much less competition."
-- Indira Gandhi
"No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets."
-- Edward Abbey
Today in history
In 1519, Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan began a voyage to find a western passage to the East Indies.

Good Morning! Sunday September 19, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's bright and clear, and today will be low 90s, sunny and humid all day. Yesterday was supposed to be low 80s, but I suspect some areas might have made it to 90. My plants, even with watering, are really suffering in this heat that just keeps on. It's a strangely hot summer, and the plants really aren't used to this. I may soon start taking plants inside, even though I usually wait for cold nights before I do that.
Yesterday was busy, although (as usual) I didn't get done what I thought I had planned. I did, however, accomplish one important task that I had been worrying about. And, in the process, I got a lot of new Christmas ideas. Oh, yeah, y'all knew I really needed that! LOL!
Some outside things got done ... my porch looks nicer. Some watering is done, and I'll finish that today.
I couldn't use my computer last night (mouse died in my room - yuck!! - had to wait for the Lysol to work!). So, I read some more. :)
Today I'll play catch up again. I borrowed a long-handled duster, with which I can reach the corners of the ceiling, and the ceiling fans; so the house will get a really good dusting today, hopefully followed by a really good vacuuming.
Today is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day" ... "Saint Gennaro Feast Day".
Quotes of the Day:
"To get something done, a committee should consist of no more than three men, two of whom are absent."

Good Morning! Saturday September 18, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's bright and clear, and might not get quite to 90 today! We had a brief shower last night ... almost not even enough to call rain. I heard that some other areas had storms, but that missed me. Today will include watering!
Last night we went out to dinner ... just because it was Friday night. :) Then I read some more until I got too sleepy. I had a rare treat .. Miss Maggie chose my lap for a nap. She rarely does that (I think I fidgit too much for her! LOL!)
Today I have all the week's worth of cleaning to catch up on. I have a load of laundry started; next thing is to make a list (because I guess I'd forget to breathe if I didn't put it on a list! LOL!). So, I'm off to be productive, and hope everyone has a good weekend! :)

Good Morning! Friday September 17, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright out, but the sky is still pink ... days are getting noticeably shorter now. I know a lot of people don't agree, but personally - I love the stretched out DST! Today will be #85 to hit the 90s. It will be low 90s, partly cloudy, more humid. There's a chance of showers (which means probably nothing at my house!) ... tonight may be a watering again night.
Last night I took the night "off". :) I did one load of laundry; but other than that, I turned off the TV and the computer and read my book until I was too sleepy to read any more. It was very restful! It's Friday, and despite "good intentions" I probably won't get much done tonight. Tomorrow I'll be trying to play catch up ... as usual I'm afraid. Eventually I will have longer weekends and shorter work weeks ... hopefully then I'll get more chores done and still have time for fun stuff! :)
Today is "Citizenship Day" ... "Constitution Day/Pledge Across America" ... "National POW/MIA Recognition Day" ... "Day of the National Hero (Angola)".

In 1983, Vanessa Williams of New York became the first African-American to be named Miss America.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's going to be in the 90s again ... today is the record-breaker ... but at least only low 90s. :) It'll be mostly sunny and a little more humid. There's no rain ... and unseasonably warm ... for at least the next 7 days. OK, we've broken the record, could we get on with fall now? LOL!
I did get the plants watered last night. I moved them back to the porch (some still in the yard from cleaning), put the empty pots "away" (as away as I have anywhere for them), plus a good drink ... including the fish pond, since the pump isn't working.
I also got some more progress made on some paperwork, but very little esle. I did watch the AGT final, and was quite pleased that the young man won. The little girl is phenominal, but I just can't believe a Vegas show is the place for a 10 year old opera singer! I tend to agree with the judges though, the other acts will probably end up in Vegas too.
Tonight, I have no idea what's on, so maybe I'll get some work done for a change. I don't think any new shows start until next week. Then again, if I get home "tired and drained", I won't much care if it's reruns or not. Perhaps I'll just read! :)
Today is "Ann Bradstreet Day" ... "Mayflower Day" ... "Women's Friendship Day" ... "UN International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer" ... "Anniversary - General Motors (100 years)" ... "Anniversary - Old Ironsides Saved by Poem" ... "Independence Day (Mexico)" ... "Independence Day (Papua New Guinea)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Nothing is as far away as one minute ago."

"A great many people think they are thinking when they are really rearranging their prejudices."

Good Morning! Wednesday September 15, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's bright and clear with only tiny lingering traces of morning mist. Our mid 90s today will tie the all time record (since they began keeping such records) for number of days in the 90s in a year. Tomorrow looks like it will set a new record! It's mid September, and while warm is "normal", 90s are (for the most part) not! Our few little tastes of fall were lovely ... ready for more! :) And, still, no rain in sight. I had to run errands the last two nights, and got home so late I never even thought about watering. Oops. Sure will have to do it tonight!
I've been on a search for "freezer packs" ... those little thingys you keep in the freezer and use to keep coolers and lunch boxes cold. I've searched 5 stores (and believe me, there aren't a lot to chose from here! LOL!), and can't find any. I didn't think I'd have to leave town to find something so simple, but it looks like I will. Bummer.
Last night I watched AGT, the final 4. I was glad to see the singer I liked was there. I find myself wondering how much influence the judges comments have on the public voting. I agreed with the grumpy judge on his somewhat negative comments; but I do not agree that a Vegas show is appropriate for a 10 year old, no matter how talented.
I guess I better watch tonight to see who wins. Then it's only a week (I think) until Dancing With The Stars starts. Sad to have to plan my housekeeping and projects around TV programs! LOL!! (But, just for the record, I'm favoring Jennifer Grey, simply because "Dirty Dancing" is one of my all time favorite movies!) :)
Today is "UN International Day of Democracy" ... "Anniversary - Greenpeace" ... "Battle of Britain Day (UK)" ... "Independence Day (Costa Rica)" ... "Independence Day (El Salvador)" ... "ndependence Day (Guatemala)" ... "Independence Day (Honduras)" ... "Independence Day (Nicaragua)".
Quotes of the Day:
"Times have not become more violent. They have just become more televised."
-- Marilyn Manson
"If I have learnt anything, it is that life forms no logical patterns. It is haphazard and full of beauties which I try to catch as they fly by, for who knows whether any of them will ever return?"
-- Margot Fonteyn
Today in history:
In 1835, Charles Darwin, aboard the HMS Beagle, reached the Galapagos Islands.
In 1954, the famous scene in which Marilyn Monroe is shown laughing as her skirt is blown up by a blast of air from a subway vent was shot during the filming of "The Seven Year Itch."
In 1971, the environmental organization Greenpeace was founded by 12 members of the Don't Make A Wave committee of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Good Morning! Tuesday September 14, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. We'll be hot again ... if the forecast is even partly right, we'll easily break the heat record. Today, low 90s, sunny, but still low humidity. All the storms appear to be well out to sea and no threat (over than high waves briefly on the shore). There's no more than a faint chance of rain for at least a week. I got home too late last night to water, so will get that done tonight.
Actually, I got most of the errands done that I needed to; but got home too late for much of anything. I did watch (most of) the final 10 on AGT. It's no longer just about talent, that's a "given". It's about who would you watch for a whole Vegas show? Hmmm .... that absurd "prince"; the magician; and the glow-in-the-dark act ... all have an edge there.
Tonight I need to make up for last night: some organizational paperwork, some spot-cleaning, and some work on this week's room to "deep-clean". Yeah, right. LOL!
Today is ... nothng. But tomorrow is "Felt Hat Day".

Good Morning! Monday September 13, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The early morning mist has started burning off, and it's going to be mid to upper 80s, suuny, and low humidity. This is how fall should be! Well, except we sure could use some rain! :) I watered yesterday, but might again tonight.
Yesterday was fairly busy. I didn't do everything I meant to (do I ever?), but I got a lot done. I washed all the windows I could reach outside; baked a cake for a neighbor's birthday; got all the laundry completely caught up; and some general cleaning. Gee, think what I could have done if I was young and energetic! LOL!
Tonight I have to run errands, so by the time I get home I probably won't actually get anything done. Maybe I'll work on a plan for the rest of the week!! :)
Today is "National Boss/Employee Exchange Day" ... "National Celiac Awareness Day" ... "Anniversary - Star-Spangled Banner" ... "Birthday - Scooby Doo".

Good Morning! Sunday September 12, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's gray and misty out now, though not "dark". Today will be upper 80s, cloudy off and on, with chances of both morning showers and afternoon storms. It rained some last night, but only a few light showers. Not even enough to come inside out of! I do hope we get a shower today, but I will be outside watering later anyway.
Yesterday was very busy. The errands got done, and all afternoon was spent power washing. I have to admit, I did very little of it, because the gnats here seem to bother me the most. They drive me crazy (and if anyone knows how to get rid of them - the outside kind, I don't have them inside - please let me know!!). Anyway, the porch looks amazing! The walls along the driveway side are also clean and shiny. OK, not "shiny"; but fresh and clean! LOL!
Today is "National Grandparent's Day" ... "National Hug Your Hound Day" ... "Video Games Day".
Quotes of the Day:
"Generosity with strings is not generosity; It is a deal."
-- Marya Mannes
"The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause."
-- Mark Twain

In 1992, Endeavor rocketed into orbit on NASA's 50th shuttle flight; a $140 million Japanese-sponsored science mission featuring married astronauts and a menagerie of fish, frogs and other critters.

Good Morning! Saturday September 11, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's gray and overcast, and a good chance of rain by tonight. It will only reach the low to mid 80s today .. Wow! It's already nearly mid September ... dare we hope the worst of the summer heat is over? We are 3 days short of breaking the record number of days in the 90s in one year ... a record I think we're OK with NOT breaking! LOL! Then again, there are more 90s in next week's forecast. But, that's a few days off yet, could change.
Last night I was, as I predicted, lazy. I spent a few minutes on organizing paperwork; and I read some. Actually, I read a lot ... and was up too late! So, I slept a little later this morning. Today the plan is to power wash the "public" side of the house, and the cement porch. And anything else we can find that looks like it needs it! LOL! It'll still be warm enough to be ok with getting very wet (and hoping the water will help keep the gnats off!!). With rain predicted, watering the plants isn't a priority ... but it won't hurt them either. There are a few errands to run before we start playing ... uh, I mean working ... LOL!
A special note today: one of my guiding principals here has always been GOOD news. There is by far enough "gloom and doom" already. But, I cannot let this day go without requesting prayers for survivors and families. God Bless America!
Today is "Anniversary - World Trade Center/Pentagon Attacks" ... "911 Day" ... "Libraries Remember" ... "Patriot Day" ... "New Year's Day (Ethiopia)".
Quotes of the Day:
"A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men."

Today in history:
In 1847, Stephen Foster's first hit, "Oh! Susanna," had its debut at a concert in a Pittsburgh saloon and soon became standard for minstrel troupes.

Good Morning! Friday September 10, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. There's no mist this morning, and my yard has a lovely bright golden glow. It'll be upper 80s today, clear, and low humidity. This will be a gorgeous "fall" day! Still no rain, but we may be getting some soon.
Last night was not as productive as I would have liked; but I got a few things done. I worked on paperwork, and a bit of sewing. I didn't get any cleaning done ... boy am I going to have a busy weekend! LOL!
Tonight I probably won't get much done either. I have that "Friday night mentality" ... I know I have tomorrow! :) For the first time in 3 weeks, I only have a "normal" weekend ... so I really need to get busy. Maybe I'll find a little spurt of energy or something tonight. Then again ... maybe I'll pick up a book! :)

Good Morning! Thursday September 8, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's started out very foggy, but bright sunshine is now quickly coming through. The fog is vanishing in layers ... eerie! :) It's to be upper 80s today (no 90s? Yay!), mostly sunny, and less humid. Still no rain though. I didn't water last night because Jimmy had the hose running into the pond (got to get the pump fixed!!). Perhaps tonight I'll get that done.
Last night I didn't get as productive as I hoped; but I did work on some paperwork, and a (tiny) bit of sewing. Hopefully tonight I'll do better ... there are things I wanted to finish this week; and I'm running out of week! LOL!
Today is "Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year)" ... "Wonderful Weirdos Day" ... "Admission Day (California)" ... "Chrysanthemum Day (Japan)" ... "Independence Day (Tajikistan)".
Quotes of the Day:

Good Morning! Wednesday September 8, 2010
Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's misty again, and while there is sun "out there", it's dim. The forecast is for partly cloudy, and a "chance" of showers. It'll be mid 90s again, a little breezy, and more humid. I think after today they're saying the heat will back off a little bit. For today, I'm hoping for some of those showers; but more likely, I'll have to come home and water!
Last night I had to run an errand and stop by the grocery store (looking for something that was much too high priced at Wal-Mart on Monday!). Even with a late start, I managed to do a bit of cleaning, work on some paperwork, and some sewing!
Tonight I'll try to get more of the sewing part done since I don't think I have any "extra" stops to make me later getting home. :)
Today is "Nixon Pardon Day" ... "Perigean Spring Tides" ... "Rosh Hashanah (begins at sundown - Jewish New Year)" ... "UN International Literacy Day" ... "Anniversary - Star Trek TV Premiere" ... "Independence Day (Macedonia)".
Quotes of the Day:

Good Morning! Tuesday September 7, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright already, with only faint traces of mist. It's back into the low 90s today (although we actually made it there yesterday), no sign of rain yet. Between Sunday and yesterday everything got a really good soaking; but will need it again by tonight.
I had lots of "good intentions" for yesterday, but didn't get a lot of things done. The chairs are finished (note, I did not say *I* finished them! LOL!), the laundry is done, and I got enough groceries to make it through the week. I tried to work on organizing paperwork, but couldn't stay awake for that! LOL!
Hopefully tonight will be more productive, there are a lot of things I need to get done! And, TV will be reruns, so not so much distraction. :)
Today is "Another Look Unlimited Day" ... "Grandma Moses Day" ... "Neither Rain Nor Snow Day" ... "Play Days (09/07-09/11)" ... "Anniversary - Google Founding" ... "Independence Day (Brazil)".

Good Morning! Monday September 6, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright, and just a touch breezy. It will be upper 80s, with low humidity, so it will still be a lovely day to be outside. The 90s are on the way back; but we get this holiday first! :)
Yesterday was a pretty lazy day. I got laundry caught up; and I managed to drag some of my fall decorations out of the "attic". I worked on sorting some paperwork, sewed a little bit ... and that's about all. Oh, and most of the things outside got watered!
Today I will try to make up for what hasn't been done yet. I should be cleaning the porch and doors; I don't know what will get done. I have to get myself back in a "mind-set" to go back to work tomorrow. Three long weekends in a row has really spoiled me! LOL!
Today is "Labor Day (US)" ... "Labor Day (Canada)" ... "Unification Day (Bulgaria)" ... "Defense of Pakistan Day (Pakistan)" ... "Independence Day (Swaziland)".

Good Morning! Sunday September 5, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear and bright and breezy, and altogether gorgeous. Today will again be mid 80s. Even though this won't last, it feels so much like fall. :)
Yesterday was very busy; but in the end, I did accomplish the few "important" things I needed to get done. We spent most of the day roaming around antique shops and flea markets. I even got some Christmas shopping done! Jimmy had a busy day too ... it took him 2 hours to untangle the rug he got hung up in the lawnmower! (trying hard not to laugh here!) We decided last night was a good night to go to our favorite restaurant. :)
Today will be busy. There are lots of things I need to do (like watering!!) to take advantage of this brief spell of lovely weather. It will be a great day to turn off the a/c and open the doors too. I also need to finish up the "routine" things (that I probably should have done yesterday), so that I can begin to tackle "The Plan". I won't follow all my special projects here, but anyone who would like to follow along is welcome to check my blog ... http://mychristmascountdown.blogspot.com/

Good Morning! Saturday September 4, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's a bit later than "usual", and the sun is shining brightly; plus, there's a bit of breeze. It's only going to mid 80s or so today. This will be a perfectly gorgeous day, just what "fall" should be! LOL! I know it isn't true fall yet, but it always seem like it *should* be in September. Fall is my favorite season; it makes me think of colorful leaves, mums, a nip in the evening air, smell of wood smoke, crunch of leaves. I know we're not done with the heat yet (a few more 90 plus, record-setting days to go at least), but I'm really looking forward to milder weather soon.
Last night I got laundry started, and a little bit of straightening done. Today, I'll be busy, but in a fun way. I'll be picking up a friend and then meeting up with other friends at an antique mall to browse and dream (and occasionally find a really good bargain!). Later we will probably check out the hughe indoor flea market down the road. Hopefully we'll get back later this afternoon and finish fixing my dining room chairs (I've lost the screws to attach the seats, so will have to get those while we're out!).
This weekend is also "kick of" to my "getting ready for Christmas" plan. Those who know me, know it's a bit late this year (usually starts in August). For the rest of you (and we have several new readers, whom I welcome!), hang on for a fun ride! LOL!
Today is "Newspaper Carrier Day" ... "Animals' Day (Curacao)".

"You find yourself refreshed by the presence of cheerful people. Why not make an honest effort to confer that pleasure on others? Half the battle is gained if you never allow yourself to say anything gloomy."

Everyone have a Great Saturday!

Good Morning! Friday September 3, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. There are still a lot of the heavy clouds that moved in by yesterday afternoon; but as the storm moves on north, it'll clear. We are predicted to have another record-breaking hot day, nearly 100. They're saying relief over the weekend (but we're still heading for a record number of 90 plus days for the year, with more to come next week). This has been a very strange summer; we're not officially in a drought, but it sure feels dry. Watering again tonight!!
Last night I worked more on paperwork than anything else ... gearing up for Christmas organizing. Those of you who have been here a long time know that's how it works! LOL! This year I'm going back to (losely) following the Holiday Grand Plan (a Yahoo group). This weekend is the time to get notebooks, calendars, and supplies assembled. Hmmm ... have to actually get OFF the computer to do that! LOL!! Tonight I may or may not work on laundry, and finish putting the guest room back together. I don't really need it any more; but you know, I'm always hopeful! :)
Today is "National Lazy Moms Day" ... "Independence Day (Qatar)" ... "National Day (San Marino)".

Good Morning! Thursday September 2, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The usual morning mist is there; perhaps it's there most mornings, but daylight is coming later now so I see it more often. It will burn off quickly, as today will be low 90s and mostly sunny. It's very strange to know there's a huge hurricane hovering off shore, and not knowing what it will do; but it's lovely and clear and hot here and we won't feel much if anything from Earl.
It appears there's an end in sight (though temporary) to the 90 plus days. Some rain sure would be welcome though!
Last night I didn't do as much as I thought I should have (well, when do I ever? LOL!); but a bit of sewing, a bit of clearing hot-spots.
Hopefully tonight I'll have found some energy ... although, with a holiday weekend coming up ... maybe not! :)
Today is "Bison-Ten-Yell Day" ... "Calendar Adjustment Day" ... "V-J Day: ,,, "Independence Day (Vietnam)".

Good Morning! Wednesday September 1, 2010
Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Just a short time ago it was completely foggy looking; it's starting to lift now. Everything is still gray, but I can see the sun shining through it. Eerie and beautiful! LOL! It's going to be another mid 90s day, but with less humidity. We're watching Earl closely, but I think where I am we'll have little or no effect ... not even rain.
We have now officially had the hottest summer on record (that being since they began keeping such records ... I think in the mid 50s). That is counting June, July, and August as the summer months (yes, I know, it's not "technically" correct). I don't remember the count, but way more days in the 90s than not! I am really ready for fall now! :)
Last night I did nothing. Really. I was so tired ... I barely stayed awake to see NCIS! So perhaps today I'm a bit more rested, and tonight will get some more sewing done. I really want to get some sewing projects done, so need to get b
- Symphony conductor Seiji Ozawa in 1935
