Good Morning! Tuesday September 28, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's still cloudy, but should at least partly clear later today. We might have some morning showers first. Today will be low 80s, breezy, less humid (once the clouds start moving out). Boy did we ever get some much-needed rain! And the powerful heat grip seems to be broken now. There's more rain coming later this week ... we seem to be making up the deficit all at once!
I finally remembered what I meant to do after work yesterday. I went to a local outlet store that offers senior discounts (15%) on Monday. I wanted to get something to wear to the fast approaching family wedding. I'm just no good at decisions! LOL!
I didn't get much done once I got home ... still felt "soggy" around the edges. I watched Dancing (Jennifer is still my favorite, but only by a narrow margin over a few others); and managed - barely - to stay awake for H50.
Tonight is another "good" night. I hope to find a burst or two of energy and get some things done during commercials at least. :)

Today is "National Good Neighbor Day" ... "UN Wold Maritime Day".

Quotes of the Day:
"It's a recession when your neighbor loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours."
-- Harry S Truman

"The best things carried to excess are wrong."
-- Charles Churchill

Today in history:
In 490 B.C., the Greeks defeated the Persians at Marathon. A Greek soldier named Phidippides ran more than 26 miles to tell Athenians of the victory and died after his announcement. His feat provided the model for the modern marathon race.

In 1892, Mansfield University was the home team for the first night football game at Smythe Park in Mansfield, Pa.

Today's birthdays include
- Frances Willard, founder of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, in 1839
- CBS Chairman William Paley in 1901
- TV variety show host and columnist Ed Sullivan in 1901
- Heavyweight boxing champ Max Schmeling in 1905
- Cartoonist Al Capp in 1909

- Musician Ben E. King in 1938
