Good Morning! Sunday September 12, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's gray and misty out now, though not "dark". Today will be upper 80s, cloudy off and on, with chances of both morning showers and afternoon storms. It rained some last night, but only a few light showers. Not even enough to come inside out of! I do hope we get a shower today, but I will be outside watering later anyway.
Yesterday was very busy. The errands got done, and all afternoon was spent power washing. I have to admit, I did very little of it, because the gnats here seem to bother me the most. They drive me crazy (and if anyone knows how to get rid of them - the outside kind, I don't have them inside - please let me know!!). Anyway, the porch looks amazing! The walls along the driveway side are also clean and shiny. OK, not "shiny"; but fresh and clean! LOL!

Today is "National Grandparent's Day" ... "National Hug Your Hound Day" ... "Video Games Day".

Quotes of the Day:
"Generosity with strings is not generosity; It is a deal."
-- Marya Mannes

"The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause."
-- Mark Twain

Today in history:
In 1609, Henry Hudson discovered what is now known as the Hudson River.

In 1940, near Montignac, France, a collection of prehistoric cave paintings, believed to be 15,000 to 17,000 years old, were discovered by four teenagers who stumbled upon the ancient artwork after following their dog down a narrow entrance into a cavern.

In 1992, Endeavor rocketed into orbit on NASA's 50th shuttle flight; a $140 million Japanese-sponsored science mission featuring married astronauts and a menagerie of fish, frogs and other critters.
