Good Morning! Wednesday September 22, 2010

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's starting out a bit cloudy, but at least some of that will clear. Today will be partly sunny, low to mid 90s, and humid. And, there are at least 3 more days in the 90s coming up. The weather guru (who just loves numbers) gave some statistics last night ... last Feb. was coldest on record; and May, June, July, and August were either hottest or 2nd hottest. Sept. could go either way at this point ... but not much month left, and more 90s to come. Fall is "officially" here, but summer is sure haning on!
Last night I got a little bit of sewing and decluttering done. The new season of NCIS started, so I "worked" during commercials. I don't even know yet who got voted off Dancing (but I know it wasn't JG).
I don't remember what's on tonight. It would be nice if there was one night without something good on! LOL! But I use the TV as a "tranquilizer". Hopefully I'll work on the sewing at least. I'm starting to make a tiny dent in the "to do" pile, so need to keep working on it. I can do something fun for myself when I finish the current overdue project! :)

Today is "American Business Women's Day" ... "Autumnal Equinox" ... "Fall Begins Northern Hemisphere" ... "Dear Diary Day" ... "Elephant Appreciation Day" ... "Hobbit Day" ... "International Day of Radiant Peace" ... "Long Count Day" ... "National Centenarian's Day" ... "Spring Begins Southern Hemisphere" ... "Anniversary - Emancipation Proclamation" ... "Anniversary - Ice Cream Cone Birthday" ... 'Autumnal Equinox Day (Japan)" ... "Independence Day (Mali)" ... "Moon Festival (China)".

Quotes of the Day:
"Why are our days numbered and not, say, lettered?"
-- Woody Allen

"There ain't no free lunches in this country. And don't go spending your whole life commiserating that you got raw deals. You've got to say, 'I think that if I keep working at this and want it bad enough I can have it.' "
-- Lee Iacocca

Today in history:
In 1985, more than 50 rock and country stars, headed by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, staged the 14-hour Farm Aid concert for 78,000 rain-soaked spectators in Champaign, Ill., raising $10 million for debt-ridden U.S. farmers.

Today's birthdays include
- English statesman and wit Philip Dormer Stanhope, earl of Chesterfield, in 1694
- English chemist and physicist Michael Faraday in 1791
- Filmmaker Eric Von Stroheim in 1885
- Humorist Frank Sullivan in 1892
