Good Morning! Thursday January 13, 2011

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. Most of the snow and ice is gone, but what's left is reflecting the pale pink and gold sky where the sun is just coming up. It stayed clear yesterday, and will be today, but only upper 30s. We're heading toward a "warming" trend (so far, we've had the 3rd coldest January ... too many records being set!).
Yesterday: Since it was a work day, the only thing I got done was one load of laundry. I did get to watch the Dance show. I was later getting to sleep, because the speech made everything run later. It's OK, today is my Friday! LOL!
Today: One more work day this week. I did clear off my sewing table last night (again), so hopefully I will work on quilt blocks tonight. :)

Today is "Old New Year's Eve (Russia)" ... "Liberation Day (Togo)" ... "Tyvendedagen (Norway)".

Quotes of the Day:
"Some days you're a bug, some days you're a windshield."
-- Price Cobb

"Never does the human soul appear so strong and noble as when it foregoes revenge and dares to forgive an injury."
-- Edward Chapin

"Don't confuse being 'soft' with seeing the other guy's point of view."
-- George Bush

Today in history:
In 1854, Anthony Faas patented the accordion.

In 1910, radio pioneer and electron tube inventor Lee Deforest arranged the world's first public radio broadcast, a performance by the New York Metropolitan Opera.

In 1990, L. Douglas Wilder takes office in Virginia, becoming the first elected African-American governor of a U.S. state.

In 1997, U.S. President Bill Clinton awarded the Medal of Honor to seven black soldiers for their courage in action in Italy during World War II. It was the first time the medal was given to black WWII servicemen.

Today's birthdays include
