Good Morning! Tuesday January 18, 2011

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning. It's a little overcast, but not supposed to be rainy past this morning. It will be lower 50s again, see-sawing between warm and cool.
Yesterday: In the end, we got a lot done, but it was a crazy day. I hadn't planned any errands, but ended up having to go pick up meds ... which turned out not to be something needed right away. Oh well, it got done. The decluttering got done. Of course, all the things that need to find new homes (as in donated, recycled, etc) got stashed in the van in the yard so they're out of the house! LOL! There's a lot of trash, too, but I'll get that today.
Today: It's been a busy morning, with laundry, dishes, bagging trash. Shortly we'll leave for Duke for yet another day of sitting around clinic waiting rooms! I'll probably finish my James Patterson book and be looking for something else! LOL!

Today is "Pooh Day" ... "Rid the World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks Day" ... "Anniversary - Lewis & Clark Expedition Commission".

Quotes of the Day:
"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backward."
-- Lewis Carroll

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
-- Arthur C. Clarke

"We are advertis'd by our loving friends."
-- William Shakespeare

Today in history:

In 1983, The International Olympic Committee restored Jim Thorpe's Olympic medals to his family. They had been rescinded for Thorpe's having played professional baseball. He won gold medals in 1912 in the pentathlon and decathlon.

In 1995, officials in Paris announced the discovery of a magnificent display of Paleolithic cave art in southern France.

In 1997, Norwegian Borge Ousland completed a 1,675-mile trek across Antarctica, the first time anyone traversed the continent alone.
