Good Morning! Monday April 18, 2011

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. It's clear at the moment, and will be mostly clear today. It will be very warm, around 80, and just a little breezy. I'm hoping the wind won't hamper clean up work from the weekend's storms.
Yesterday: It was kind of an "off" day here. I didn't get anything really accomplished. It was a sad anniversary, and I guess I felt a little blue. In the afternoon DH and I rode to town to check on his son, and stop by the grocery store. Then we rode out to my friend's house to check on them. We saw a lot of damage from the storm path, which was very sad to see ... but also an amazing number of people already out and helping with clean up and repairs.
Today: We have a very early appointment in Raleigh, so have to head on out quickly. Since we don't know how long it will take, no plans are made for the rest of the day. If we get back in time, I'll work on getting my plants back out where they belong, and try to finish up my sewing project. :)

Today is "Adult Autism Awareness Day" ... "International Amateur Radio Day" ... "National Stress Awareness Day" ... "National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day" ... "Passover (Jewish - begins at sundown)" ... "Pet Owner's Independence Day" ... "Third World Day" ... "Anniversary - The House That Ruth Built" ... "Anniversary - Paul Revere's Ride" ... "Patriot's Day (Mass. and Maine)" ... "Independence Day (Zimbabwe)".

Quotes of the Day:
"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on."
-- Robert Frost

"Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome."
-- Arthur Ashe

"Holding onto anger is like grasping onto a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else. You are the one who gets burned."
-- Gautama Buddha

Today in history:
In 1775, American patriot Paul Revere began his famed ride through the Massachusetts countryside, crying out "The British are coming!" to rally the Minutemen.

In 1923, Yankee Stadium opened in New York.
