Good Morning! Thursday August 5, 2010

Good morning! It's a wonderful morning! Right now it's pale and sparkly out, though later it will partly cloudy, and around or just over 100! And, heat index reaching 105 or more. Yikes! But the good news (for me) is that the storms that moved across the state during the night did NOT miss me for a change! Wow, did it rain (and thunder and lightening ... in the wee hours of the morning). This morning everything is fresh and clean and soaked ... a good beginning for a very hot day. There's the usual possibility of afternoon storms.
Last night I did a little better. I had some sheets and towels to be folded and put away, and that's done. And, I have finished all that I can do so far on the sewing project. I don't have enough blocks done yet, but I can start sewing on what I have. Yay! Tonight, however, other things need to get done. I will have to go by Wally World for some things Jimmy didn't get yesterday. That gets the evening off to a late start; and I have a chair to de-construct. And, I'm sure, there'll be other things I've forgotten. :)

Today is "National Underwear Day" ... "Homeland Thanksgiving Day (Croatia)".

Quotes of the Day:
"I hope that while so many people are out smelling the flowers, someone is taking the time to plant some."
-- Herbert Rappaport

"Don't think there are no crocodiles because the water is calm."
-- Malayan Proverb

'Education... has produced a vast population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading."
-- G. M. Trevelyan

In 1858, after several unsuccessful attempts, the first telegraph line across the Atlantic Ocean was completed.

In 1884, the cornerstone for the Statue of Liberty was laid.

In 1957, Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" began airing nationally.
