Good Morning! Saturday August 22, 2009

Good morning! It's a lovely summer morning. I got to "sleep in" a little, but it's still a touch misty out. I can see the brightness where the sun is burning through. The forecast for today is only upper 80s and mostly cloudy ... good chance of storms later. Hopefully, not until after I do some errands this afternoon! LOL!
Last night was yet another lazy, get-nothing-done type night. I have no excuse - TV was mostly reruns (I watched a "Criminal Minds" marathon. That's just sad! LOL!) The only thing I "accomplished" was a to-do list for today .... so hopefully I will get everything done I need to. I have laundry and cleaning to do this morning, errands and window-shopping (just looking, no spending) to do this afternoon. If I get done, then the whole rest of the weekend is working on sewing projects; and maybe even some craft projects.

Today is "Be An Angel Day" ... "Southern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day".

Quotes of the Day:
"Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to vex your mind. "
-- Leonardo da Vinci

"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple. "
-- Dr. Seuss

Today in history:
In 1851, the U.S.-built schooner America outran a fleet of Britain's finest ships around England's Isle of Wight in an international race that became known as America's Cup.

In 1881, American humanitarians Clara Barton and Adolphus Solomons founded the National Red Cross.

Today's birthdays include
- French composer Claude Debussy in 1862
- Charles Jenkins, inventor of airplane brakes and the conical drinking cup, in 1867
- Writer, critic Dorothy Parker in 1893
- Heart surgeon Denton Cooley in 1920
- Science fiction writer Ray Bradbury in 1920
- French fashion designer Marc Bohan in 1926
- Gulf War hero and retired U.S. Army Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf in 1934
- Actress Valerie Harper in 1940
- Actress Cindy Williams in 1947
- Singer/songwriter Tori Amos in 1963

Everyone have a Great Saturday!
