Good Morning! Sunday, August 2, 2009

Good morning! It's a wonderful summer Sunday morning! It actually was bright and mostly clear when I got up (2 hours ago), but it's darkening rapidly. The forecast for today is upper 80s and rain. I hope this isn't one of the days when the storms pass me by, my yard could use rain! :) Of course, a rainy day also makes it harder for me to get my long list done, but I will try to do what I can. I've gotten a good start this morning ... before it gets too hot ... I've mopped (yet again) the kitchen floor, a load of laundry washed and in the dryer, and the living room ceiling fan cleaned. I plan to clean the fan in here too, but since it's over my sewing table, I need to find a sheet to put under it first. And then, of course, will have to wash a load of sheets! :) Hopefully I can get to the easier - and more fun - things when the afternoon heats up.
Yesterday we played hookey all afternoon! LOL! We went to a friend's young son's birthday ... ate pizza and cake and other yummy stuff, and made Christmas plans - a perfect day for me! :)

To my sister Barbara ... where ever you are this weekend ... today is "sister's day" ... I love you!

Today is "Sisters' Day" ... "Anniversary - Signing of Declaration of Independence Official" ... "American Family Day in Arizona (Arizona)" ... "National Day (Macedonia)".

Quotes of the Day:
"Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another."
-- Madonna

"The roses, the lovely notes, the dining and dancing are all welcome and splendid. But when the Godiva is gone, the gift of real love is having someone who'll go the distance with you. Someone who, when the wedding day limo breaks down, is willing to share a seat on the bus."
-- Oprah Winfrey

Today in history:
In 1776, the Declaration of Independence, adopted on July 4, was signed by members of the Continental Congress.

In 1870, the Tower Subway, the world's first underground railway, opened in London.
